Who is going to win the CrossFit Games? We KNOW!

Andrew Hiller (00:01):

Right, right, right.

Sevan Matossian (00:02):

Bam. We’re live me skinny Susa and Caleb

Mattew Souza (00:08):

Farmer’s Tan.

Sevan Matossian (00:10):

God. Hillary, you look skinny as shit. What’s up with you, dude?

Andrew Hiller (00:14):

What do you mean

Mattew Souza (00:15):

All I

Sevan Matossian (00:16):

Look skinny? Maybe just a shirt or something. Maybe it’s your haircut.

Mattew Souza (00:20):

That’s a double XL tank.

Andrew Hiller (00:23):

Are you flexing?

Sevan Matossian (00:24):

No. My bicep hurts from doing so many curls from trying to look good for the games. My left bicep is killing me. Don’t roll your eyes at me fool.

Andrew Hiller (00:33):

My left bicep. The unworked six month bicep has been overworked this month.

Mattew Souza (00:38):

Yes. Yes. Straight from good to overuse injury.

Sevan Matossian (00:42):

You have arrived what feels like the final show of the year of whatever. I don’t know. Not the calendar year, but some year, right Caleb? Some year,

Mattew Souza (00:53):

Some year.

Sevan Matossian (00:54):

We’re getting close to the, yeah, some we’re getting close to the final. This just feels like the final show until we start the new season of the Seon podcast. Not even the CrossFit game season. Just the Seon podcast season.

Mattew Souza (01:09):

Season two.

Sevan Matossian (01:10):

Yeah. Yeah. Is it season two or three or four?

Andrew Hiller (01:17):

Season three. The season three finale.

Sevan Matossian (01:20):

I do feel like somehow though we’re crossing like we’ve entered puberty.

Mattew Souza (01:24):

Yeah, adolescents for sure.

Sevan Matossian (01:26):

Yeah, adolescents. That’s fair. That’s fair. We can walk, we can tie our shoes. We can get some simple parents. What?

Mattew Souza (01:33):

Talk you to our parents.

Sevan Matossian (01:34):

Yeah. Get some simple shit out of the fridge. Peel a banana,

Mattew Souza (01:37):

Make eggs.

Sevan Matossian (01:39):

This have on podcast.

Andrew Hiller (01:41):

Can you boil an egg? Can you hard boil an egg?

Mattew Souza (01:44):

No. That comes five years from now. We can’t

Andrew Hiller (01:46):

Do that yet. We don’t know how to do that.

Sevan Matossian (01:47):

Alright. Maybe we, maybe we’d probably get slapped for it. A season two sporty Beth comes on the pod. That’d be awesome. I would love that. No, I’d be season five. Really? That long?

Andrew Hiller (01:59):

I thought we

Mattew Souza (02:00):

Were on. She starts to go downhill.

Sevan Matossian (02:01):

I think I’m going to see her at the games and we’re going to hug and it’s going to be good. I seriously think that,

Andrew Hiller (02:09):

I thought you weren’t going to see anybody.

Mattew Souza (02:10):

So does Caleb.

Sevan Matossian (02:11):

I mean, I’ll hug her through the fence or something.

Mattew Souza (02:15):

One of these moments. Maybe on the other side of a glass or something.

Sevan Matossian (02:18):

Yeah, just like, what’s up? Give her a high five. Look at her

Mattew Souza (02:22):

Sevan Matossian (02:23):

Gaze and then someone five minutes later will report me for attacks.

Mattew Souza (02:30):

Look, there he is.

Sevan Matossian (02:32):

I’m going to wave at someone and someone’s going to report me for intimidating them. Excuse me. You’re 12 inches taller than him. Yeah, I know, but you should see that man Bunny has, oh, I’m so pissed at the, I’m so pissed and so proud of the Mayhem Boys. Season two un cancelable.

Andrew Hiller (02:51):

Yeah, that’s cool. I saw that

Sevan Matossian (02:55):

Angelo’s a beast.

Mattew Souza (02:57):

Andrew Hiller (02:58):

Something that was from him, right? UNC Cancelable

Sevan Matossian (03:01):

I think so. He’s something special

Mattew Souza (03:03):

With the stash.

Sevan Matossian (03:05):

How hard did they really push

Andrew Hiller (03:06):

That concept though? I don’t think they pushed that concept hard enough. They

Sevan Matossian (03:10):

Haven’t really tried anything. They’re working though. They’re walking that way. Angelo’s walking fast and Rich is walking medium and Rory’s kind of got put his arms on their shoulders and like, easy buddy. There’s no hurry. As they walk out, we got sponsors. Is Rich and Angela want to walk into The Deep End

Andrew Hiller (03:30):

Show is brought to you by Manscaped.

Sevan Matossian (03:37):

If you are going to the CrossFit games this year, first of all, congratulations, you are going to have an absolute blast. Some of the nicest people ever congregating in one place. The weather’s going to be fun. Just accept the heat and sweat it out. Bring water, bring a good attitude. It’s a safe place for kids and family and it’s cool. It feels almost like a homecoming. It’s definitely not just a sporting event. It’s got a little bit of a grateful dead vibe thing going to it. Country fair and as a spectator there, if it’s your first time, welcome, congratulations. And if you’ve been there lots of times, you already know I’m preaching to the choir. It’s a great place to bring kids of all ages from your, I don’t know, three or four year old actually any age to your 16 year old. I mean it’s just really cool, healthy, wholesome. And on top of that, CrossFit’s going to be providing, provides a bunch of cool stuff. There’s the vendor villages, there’s all the eateries, there’s the different venues, there’s the vendor village, there’s the affiliate lounge, and then of course there’s all the different events going on. The adaptive, the age group, the individual, the teenagers, the whole Chiang. When I say age group, I always feel like, I mean the upper people, teenagers should get their own

Mattew Souza (05:09):

And they got specific stuff for kids.

Sevan Matossian (05:11):

They do

Mattew Souza (05:11):

Specifically for kids. Yeah.

Sevan Matossian (05:13):

Tell me me.

Mattew Souza (05:14):

Well here, let me put this up real quick. So we got some graphics for us and the QR code that you guys are going to see big on your screen for a moment is to the CrossFit Games onsite app. And first I know what you’re thinking. Oh shit, I got to download another app, but trust me, I did it. I went through it. It organizes everything for you. It displays all the stuff from the classes they’re going to have that you could take as if you’re at a normal affiliate to the coaching stuff, to the affiliate walkthrough, to the main kind of events here, which we’ll talk about, which is the five K run and then the benchmark. So here’s

Sevan Matossian (05:43):

Your I’m ready, I’m ready, I’m ready. Here it is.

Mattew Souza (05:46):

So you could go on there, find that thing, download it.

Sevan Matossian (05:51):

And what is this app called again? The CrossFit games event guide?

Mattew Souza (05:54):

Yeah, it’s the onsite one. There’s two. You’re going to see the CrossFit and you’re going to see the CrossFit games event says onsite and it’s blue rather than the black and white. So it’s black and blue or

Sevan Matossian (06:04):

I guess I just accept all of these fan experience weather alerts. Oh look it, wow. Weather alerts, affiliate owners, entertainment, schedule changes, announcements. You can click enable all. I’m going to accept all of these.

Mattew Souza (06:14):

And so you could also, once you guys get in there, you’ll see the different categories. Whether you want an affiliate experience where you could go in, you’re going to take a class with a bunch of your friends. You could do some of the, they have gymnastics courses going on. They’ll have the Olympic weightlifting stuff going on, tons and tons of stuff, and they have all the list of the vendors in there. So if you click the vendor, it’ll bring up everybody who they have. So I know if you guys like me, want to try

Sevan Matossian (06:37):

That every, I don’t see vendor. I don’t see vendor. I see featured places, featured news, individual competition, team competition.

Mattew Souza (06:43):

So ready for this? Click the hamburger.

Sevan Matossian (06:44):

Oh, I see the hamburger, upper lifting corner. You

Mattew Souza (06:47):

Get the hamburger and then when you click it, you’ll see what Caleb has on screen here. You got schedule. The affiliate schedule is actually just straight up taking classes. So I imagine all the seven ISAs, you guys should rock the c o shirt and all go take the 8:00 AM together. They have one specifically for coaches too, so if you’re an L one through an L four, you could go and go get the coaching experience where I’m sure they’re going to be teaching a little bit more about the nuances of coaching the class and there’s a breakfast for you at the end. I’m kind of jealous to be honest because when I went to the games just as a spectator without a job, this would’ve been dope.

Sevan Matossian (07:22):

Hey, let me ask you this. Will you bring that back up Caleb and then click on, I know this is falling into the weeds here, but click on affiliate schedule. Oh, I can’t click. It’s

Mattew Souza (07:34):

Just a graphic. Yeah,

Sevan Matossian (07:35):

He just has the pre. Oh, it’s just a graphic. Okay. Okay. It says affiliate schedule and then it says CrossFit class 8:30 AM and then it says 19. I wonder if that means 19 people are already signed up.

Mattew Souza (07:46):

Yeah, I mean I’m sure they have to cut off at some point.

Sevan Matossian (07:49):

Take a group class with one of our four certified CrossFit level four coaches. Wow. 8:30 AM on Tuesday, August 1st you can take a class with four certified level fours and then you can even click this button and it gives you a little reminder

Mattew Souza (08:02):

And so you could add it to your schedule so you guys could go in there and build your schedule of what you want to do and when you want to do it, and it’ll give you all the alerts as well.

Sevan Matossian (08:10):

Oh, and this is cool too. It’ll tell you if you don’t want to look up by event. You can also look up by area. So if you want to know what’s going on in the beer garden, I do click the beer garden

Mattew Souza (08:22):

And I’ll break that. It’ll break it down. But the big thing is is got the global five K run. It’ll be happening on August 4th on Friday between one 30 and two 30 Central time.

Sevan Matossian (08:34):

August 4th. What is that Thursday?

Mattew Souza (08:35):

August 4th. That’s Friday.

Sevan Matossian (08:37):

Mattew Souza (08:38):

Yeah. So you could go in there and you’re going to run the race and that would definitely be cool to do. You got a whole hour to do it. So even if you just want to just get a small sweat and not seriously try to run it, it’s still a great opportunity to get sweaty, shake a leg or as they say in this thing here, apparently Don Fall’s going to run it. They said you could compare your time his.

Sevan Matossian (08:58):

I want to go back to one more thing about this app. I want to tell you guys about one more thing on here. I just realized that schedule right there. I know Susa just said it, but I didn’t really understand what he was saying until I clicked on it. You can go through here and pick all the stuff you want to do and organize it by time. And as you do that and click all the different things you want to do, it makes a calendar for you and that’s your schedule. So you could fill your whole day up with stuff you choose from the app of stuff to do, and it will build a calendar for you and give you 15 minute alerts right before there starts. So if you want to see event number three and then you want to work out and then you want to go see a presentation somewhere else, you can pick all those things and then it’ll just make a schedule for you. This is pretty sick. Has it been like this every year? I’ve never used the app.

Mattew Souza (09:44):

I can’t speak to that. I don’t think so. I mean, it looks like they really got it together this year. The other cool thing too is they got that thing affiliate walk. So if you guys want to check out what a well run affiliate is with a collective of data from everybody who’s going to be walking you through there, meaning a bunch of the L four coaches, I’m sure Austin Mall will be there, stuff like that. They’ll walk you through what that experience of onboarding a new member should look like. And I think it’s open to everybody. I’m not sure, but you may have to have an L one for that, but if you don’t, you should just go check it out. I mean, we have people all the time that want to talk about, oh, I want to open a gym or whatever. Learn more about it. There you go.

Sevan Matossian (10:22):

What do they have for the kids? Is that the five K?

Mattew Souza (10:25):

Yeah, if you go, I think to the workouts or something. No, they have specific stuff for kids. Hold on. So they got the food of the drink one.

Andrew Hiller (10:37):

Madison. I always, it was chicken, but kids could run a five K because it’s basically twice as far. They’re so short.

Mattew Souza (10:44):

I mean I’m sure you could take the kids that run a five K, you got a full hour to do it. Hill’s going to be there. Apparently you’re bear crawling it, which is dope.

Sevan Matossian (10:51):

Wow. Hill is your bear crawl, your five K

Andrew Hiller (10:54):

Versus John Young.

Sevan Matossian (10:57):

I did hear that. Craig Ritchie and the buttery bros are running the five K, which is cool.

Mattew Souza (11:02):

Sevan Matossian (11:04):

Sponsors for this are Haven, sugar Wad, Zen Planner, H W P O, proven Mayhem athlete, GORUCK Mag Pool, rp, Renaissance Puritization, US Border Patrol, Yeti Bear Complex, perfect Hydration, O two Hydration, Rosti Ice Barrel two Pood Wild Health, US Army Surface Coat Trifecta, GShock and Jocko. Joco. Jocko. Jocko Joco.

Mattew Souza (11:32):

Nailed it.

Sevan Matossian (11:33):

Thanks. And go. What momentous.

Mattew Souza (11:40):

Oh wait, it looks like they’ll have classes in specific other languages. Italian hour, Portuguese hour. They got a q and a with Dawn in here. CrossFit, weightlifting,

Sevan Matossian (11:50):

Cave dasra. Was this part of the contract Chevy? No. What happened was is that we were trying to get someone on from CrossFit to do that and I wanted to do it. I don’t want to fully be immersed and support the event. I want be, I want to give you guys information. So I was like, you

Mattew Souza (12:12):

Guys want the fucking behind the scenes or not people? Yeah, you want a young board here or what? Young board here or what?

Sevan Matossian (12:17):

And while you guys are doing all that fun stuff, I’ll be in the athlete warmup area filming someone crying. But either way,

Caleb Beaver (12:27):

Someone is sacrificing his training schedule to get behind the scenes.

Sevan Matossian (12:33):

So that’s that. But

Mattew Souza (12:36):

It is cool. It is cool. So take advantage of it. He

Andrew Hiller (12:38):

Sacrificing future jiu-Jitsu championship for the behind the scenes for everybody.

Caleb Beaver (12:43):

Yeah, they’re going to be a week behind.

Sevan Matossian (12:45):

What is this? Craig Ritchie cut a tendon in his hand. That’s not true, is it?

Andrew Hiller (12:49):

It’s true.

Mattew Souza (12:49):

I think it is. I think it is.

Andrew Hiller (12:52):

Yeah. It’s gnarly. I think you just put up a video on it. You roll over the

Sevan Matossian (12:55):

YouTube too. Oh dude, I’m so sorry. Can you hold a camera?

Andrew Hiller (13:00):

You can’t hold a ball. How

Sevan Matossian (13:00):

Bad is it? Did he do it? Did he do it while in the States? I’m so

Mattew Souza (13:05):

Sorry. Well, we know what you were watching.

Sevan Matossian (13:08):

Oh, spin.

Mattew Souza (13:10):

Sevan Matossian (13:10):

Up? Can’t get enough of us. That’s right. Hey, was he in this country when it happened?

Andrew Hiller (13:16):

I don’t believe so. No.

Sevan Matossian (13:17):

No. Oh, well that sucks.

Mattew Souza (13:20):

Probably got all the details in the video maybe. Alright,

Sevan Matossian (13:23):

You want that

Mattew Souza (13:23):

Stuff? He had

Andrew Hiller (13:24):

Thousand people tell him to make the Matt Fraser comparison video. You know how Fraser mentioned in a couple of different places that he wouldn’t cut vegetables leading up to the games just in case he didn’t want to cut his hand and then not be able to compete. Craig, Craig should have had as a jazz cut all his vegetables for him.

Sevan Matossian (13:46):

Ya yas.

Andrew Hiller (13:50):

You ever had a pinched nerve and then your fingers going numb? Yeah. Oh, it sucks.

Mattew Souza (13:56):

Yeah, you were pretty sincere when you said that. That sucked. It felt heartfelt from you. Oh, not bad. I pinch my nerve three

Sevan Matossian (14:02):

Times a week

Mattew Souza (14:03):

In his video with the one about Matt.

Sevan Matossian (14:07):

That’s Craig Ritchie’s hand. God, he’s got some thick hands. Is he on? I think they’re

Speaker 5 (14:11):

Swollen. Oh, he has a Megan Fox thumb.

Mattew Souza (14:13):

Go back a Megan Fox thumb. What is that?

Caleb Beaver (14:17):

Megan Fox? No, he look at the next picture. He doesn not have a Megan Fox thumb.

Mattew Souza (14:21):

What is that? What’s a Look

Caleb Beaver (14:23):

It up. Look

Mattew Souza (14:24):

It up on Google. Hold on. I don’t know. Caleb. To the rescue.

Sevan Matossian (14:28):

Poor Craig. That sucks. That sounds horrible. Yeah.

Mattew Souza (14:33):

At least he’s got the hustle made sock. So he’s still getting that product placement in there.

Andrew Hiller (14:40):

What’s wrong with it?

Mattew Souza (14:41):

The thumbnail? It’s a midget. It looks like a normal thumb butt. Oh, I see.

Speaker 5 (14:46):

Come on, find a better one. Caleb, come

Mattew Souza (14:47):

On. Oh,

Sevan Matossian (14:48):

Are you kidding me? That one’s enough. I get it best. I understand she got a toe on her hand. Exactly.

John Young (14:57):

Oh, it does look like a toe.

Sevan Matossian (14:59):

It’s fine. Be nice. Hey,

John Young (15:02):

It’s all good.

Sevan Matossian (15:04):

Imagine staring

John Young (15:05):

Down at that thing, huh? Yeah, imagine. Imagine that touching your dick. Imagine that there. It’s somebody was saying

Sevan Matossian (15:14):

How long I used to have fun on this show.

John Young (15:17):

Have we talked a lot of CrossFit yet

Sevan Matossian (15:19):

So much.

John Young (15:21):

Actually a decent amount. I’d say

Sevan Matossian (15:24):

So ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Games prediction show. I think we should get right into it, into the meat of it. Like no Dilly Dowling. I would like to say a couple truths before we start and then there’s something else I’d like to do. I’d like to take the men and the women and put ’em into three tiers on something we could agree upon.

John Young (16:00):

Okay? I tiered my rankings sheet whenever they bring it up. I’ve already tiered

Sevan Matossian (16:06):

Them. And to how many tiers?

John Young (16:08):

It’s about five.

Sevan Matossian (16:09):

John Young (16:10):

So we can do that into a three, but they’re already color coded. So once we start, Caleb can bring that up and then we can talk about it.

Sevan Matossian (16:17):

Okay, so there’s a couple truths I want to let you guys know about before we start. Everyone who’s listening now, listen carefully. If you’re a woman in the CrossFit games this year and you don’t do better than you did last year, you should quit.

John Young (16:33):

Okay? I agree.

Sevan Matossian (16:34):

Mal is gone. Haley’s gone. Tia’s gone. If you can’t improve from last year, just get the fuck out. Join the W N B A.

John Young (16:41):

So when Danielle Brandon gets six plays, you shut it. She should,

Sevan Matossian (16:45):

John. There’s an exemption for everyone.

John Young (16:47):

There’s an exemption.

Sevan Matossian (16:51):

Number two, Laura Horvat is the absolute front runner. She of all the women, if you did not pick Laura Horvat to win the CrossFit game for the women this year, then you are lying to yourself and it’s an emotional pick like I picked Annie to win it, and you’re just lying to yourself. Laura is the front runner the most. She’s more likely to win the women than Justin Madero is to win the men. She is guaranteed the win. If she doesn’t win, it’s because the programming shitty or something. Are you

John Young (17:22):

High? I disagree with

Sevan Matossian (17:24):

That. I’m just sharing you guys truth.

John Young (17:27):

That’s your

Sevan Matossian (17:27):

Truth. Listen, I’m just telling you guys truth. I’m just telling you truth. This year there’s something bigger going on than crowning the fittest woman on earth.

What will happen after at the end of this year is we will know who the greatest Icelandic athlete who ever lived is. Whoever finishes hire Katherine, David’s daughter Annie Thor’s daughter, will be the greatest Icelandic athlete who’s ever walked the planet man or woman. And I personally find that huge, especially in our sport. They each have two victories at the CrossFit games and this is a battle for legacy for them, for each of them. And if one of them wins the game this year, they put themselves into a class that no one else is in. You’ll have Matt and Tia and Rich in their own class, and then you’ll have either Kain or Annie in their own class and then you’ll have Justin Mendo, et cetera. Unless Justin were to win too. Go ahead Mr. Taylor. I’m just telling you guys the

Taylor Self (18:33):

Truth is Hatt Thor Bjornsen. That’s what I was going to say.

Sevan Matossian (18:36):

He is. Come on, come on, come on. Say Come on

John Young (18:41):

Magnus. For Magnusson is way better than half Norm. If we’re going to talk strong man

Sevan Matossian (18:45):

Talking, I’m not the greatest athlete ever to Both those women are 10 times athletes that those fucking one trick ponies are no

Taylor Self (18:52):

Shot. Dude.

Andrew Hiller (18:53):

They’re not.

Taylor Self (18:54):

He’s like six eight.

Sevan Matossian (18:56):

Here we go. Let

Taylor Self (18:57):

Me, are you with me? Hiller?

Andrew Hiller (18:59):

I’m with you. And I’m also against John Young. John Yo’s High.

John Young (19:04):

There are strong men that were better than Hathor won one world’s strongest man. At least pick the best Icelandic strongman competitor. There’s been. He

Taylor Self (19:12):

Looks like fucking Odin reincarnate dude. He’s like six eighth. His six pack goes down to his falls. It’s

Sevan Matossian (19:19):

Crazy. Guys. CrossFit, bring it back. Bring it back. All right.

Andrew Hiller (19:23):

500 kilo deadlift.

John Young (19:26):

That was Eddie Hall. Hathor was 5 0 1.

Taylor Self (19:30):

Sevan Matossian (19:34):

If there is no swim this year in the CrossFit games, I keep hearing this. I was listening to the Talking Elite Fitness podcast and the men’s and women’s reviews and there keeps being this thing. There’s not going to be a swim. If that’s true, we have to rethink everything. How? I don’t know. Especially in the men’s competition. It’s going to get really weird. It’s going to get really weird in the men’s competition. If

Taylor Self (19:58):

There’s no swim,

John Young (20:01):

Taylor Self (20:01):

A bike.

John Young (20:02):

If Vener wins and there’s no swim, I bet people will say it’s because there was no swim.

Taylor Self (20:08):

They’d be right.

John Young (20:09):

Taylor Self (20:11):

Fucking dude. Very

John Young (20:13):

True. I don’t think he’s underserving if that happens though.

Sevan Matossian (20:16):

Okay. Okay. And we’ll get to all that shit in a second. I’m just dropping some bombs. Ricardo Garcia, Mars $50. Sup fellas. Amazing sequence of podcasts. Seon Horvat always seems like she could lose some weight. Is it just a body type thing or what? Any thoughts? I have no idea. I think her body is, I’m not allowed to talk about her body. I’ve left that phase of my life.

Taylor Self (20:39):

You’re done talking about CrossFit girl’s bodies. Give it a week and a half.

Sevan Matossian (20:44):

Yeah, please give me two weeks. I know for 50 Rs I should be saying something. I find her body perfect.

Taylor Self (20:50):

Is that a South African? Is that Rand?

Sevan Matossian (20:52):

I don’t know. No, it’s ru

Taylor Self (20:54):

Ru rubles.

Sevan Matossian (20:55):

Rubles. But I will tell you this, Laura Horvat, she’s the most likely to win out of the men and women period. She’s the shit. But the weird thing is, and I think John Young get on board in this, is there’s really the athlete who has the least amount of holes is also Justin Maderis on the men’s side.

John Young (21:16):

I would

Sevan Matossian (21:16):

Agree. Out of the men and women, he has the least amount of holes.

John Young (21:20):

I would agree.

Taylor Self (21:22):

But there are probably seven or eight athletes who have a way better ability

John Young (21:25):

To hit one way more strengths.

Sevan Matossian (21:29):

Okay, that was good. What

Taylor Self (21:32):

Does Emma bad at? What does Emma Carey bad at staying happy?

John Young (21:36):

Well, Vel with the overhead, her overhead’s not great.

Taylor Self (21:42):

She has a great snatch and cleaning jerk

John Young (21:44):

At school. Veatch is 2 95, but we’ve seen him fail over and over again on overhead stability and endurance. I think it Carrie, similar. It’s not bad. It’s not bad. It’s

Taylor Self (21:54):

Just, I don’t think her stability is, she might not have as beautiful a position as some other athletes, but I don’t think she really, I don’t know of a weakness that she has and that was a joke. Or her staying healthy thing, obviously. So I just want to clarify. Big joke, guys.

John Young (22:07):

Chill. You go back and broke. She was a third to last in the handstand pushup event after Laura Horvath. Then it was her some overhead stuff. She’s, it’s not bad. It’s just not great.

Taylor Self (22:19):

I bet she can hurt better than any of the women in the field maybe. I mean, Laura seems like quite the savage, but Emma seems like, I don’t disagree with you dark places.

Sevan Matossian (22:32):

Let me also say two more things to keep in mind when you think about this year’s CrossFit games. Think about which athletes, this is their last year. Which one, which athletes is this? This could be

Taylor Self (22:44):

Sevan Matossian (22:45):

But ones we don’t even know. Annie, is this Annie’s last year?

John Young (22:48):

Well, if she does worse than she did last year, according to you,

Taylor Self (22:53):

Dude, we’re good then. Bro. Michelle didn’t make it last year, so we’re square.

Sevan Matossian (22:57):

It is just, and this one’s really going to trip you out. How about this? Lemme throw this out there to add more provocative elements. Truth elements. The dark horses are a trip this year. Emma Lawson is the ultimate dark horse because what if she got 5% better dude

John Young (23:13):

To to a dark horse to win? Is

Taylor Self (23:15):

She a dark horse? I feel like a dark horse is people that not a lot of people talk about.

Brian Spin (23:22):

Can you define dark horse? I think there’s six women that are, and she’s one of ’em that are all

Sevan Matossian (23:25):

Favorites. What I mean is if Emma Lawson could, after the first day, we could all be like, oh shit. I knew she was going to win. I mean, you know what I mean?

John Young (23:32):

I don’t think

Taylor Self (23:34):

I would say, I would not call Emma Lawson a dark

Sevan Matossian (23:38):

Horse. I would. I call her Canadian. I know, that’s why it’s weird. Why wouldn’t you call her a dark horse? I want to argue this with you. Why wouldn’t talk

John Young (23:46):

It’s a win or a

Sevan Matossian (23:46):

Podium to her? No, to win. To win. To win.

Taylor Self (23:49):

Because she’s talked about so much. A lot of people pick her to win. Therefore, how is she a dark horse?

Sevan Matossian (23:56):

Okay, lemme tell you why she’s a dark horse. Because there’s so much unknown. Same with Gaza. Someone said Gaza’s, we know that something has happened in the, we know that there’s a potential for something to have happened in the off season this year with Emma Lawson that’s greater than any other athlete in the field.

Taylor Self (24:16):

Fair, fair,

Sevan Matossian (24:17):

Fair. And then you could could throw a Gaza and Emma Carey in that too, right? I mean, we have three massive dark horses lurking in the top 10.

John Young (24:26):

I think Emma is less of a dark horse. Emma Lawson, than the other two that you named.

Sevan Matossian (24:31):

No one’s going to fall. No one would bet their life that there’s no way Emma Lawson wins this.

Taylor Self (24:36):

I’d say Karin’s more of a dark horse.

Sevan Matossian (24:38):

A karin’s dark horse too. We have no idea. I agree. There’s so many dark horses this year.

Brian Spin (24:43):

I think Emma’s the third best returning from last year’s games. I don’t think you’d call her a dark horse, but we just may not be talking about her as much.

Sevan Matossian (24:50):

Wait, wait, wait. What place? No, she’s not the Oh, returning from last year. Right, right. But also a hundred points away from Laura Horvat.

Brian Spin (24:58):

Sure, but that’s still podium

Sevan Matossian (25:00):

A good point. And spin’s. Piggybacking also off the fact that, yeah, if you don’t improve this year, quit.

Brian Spin (25:08):

That’s the theme I guess.

Taylor Self (25:12):

Is it?

Sevan Matossian (25:13):

It’s not the truth for the men though. It’s not the Andrew Hiller’s shirt. 1999.

Taylor Self (25:20):

Oh shit. Something

Sevan Matossian (25:21):

Like that. I hate this question. What’s the over under on Hiller kissing? Hip and steel next week?

Taylor Self (25:27):

Kissing. No fighting.

Sevan Matossian (25:29):

No, no kissing

Taylor Self (25:31):

With your hand.

Sevan Matossian (25:32):

Fighting. Taking Betts locally in Madison. I’ll refer it. 1 million views. Seven. Jesus,

Taylor Self (25:38):

Dude, that would be

Sevan Matossian (25:39):

Sick. No, no socks and gloves. No. No. Yes.

Taylor Self (25:43):

Yes. The backyard. U S C, Hiller V Hip and

Sevan Matossian (25:46):

Steel. No.

Taylor Self (25:47):

Well, first of all, that would be you kick them out. Someone booted Who got booted? Me you. Oh, whoops.

Sevan Matossian (25:58):

I just told you. This is the nicest event. This is like the Grateful Dead show. Hiller’s going to be wearing tie dye with a joint behind his ear.

Taylor Self (26:06):

A what? It’s going to be Woodstock

Sevan Matossian (26:09):

A joint.

Taylor Self (26:10):

Woodstock. 99.

Sevan Matossian (26:14):

Alright. Does anyone else want to drop any truths out there? Does anyone want to lay out the landscape

Brian Spin (26:21):

Steel? I think we’re going to miss some big names on Saturday.

Sevan Matossian (26:28):

No shit.

Taylor Self (26:29):

Brian Spin (26:30):

I think so. Who,

Taylor Self (26:32):

Let’s get into it.

Brian Spin (26:33):

You’ll see. It’ll, let’s go through

John Young (26:34):

The predictions and then we’ll get into it then.

Taylor Self (26:38):

Is yours color coded too?

Sevan Matossian (26:39):

Brian? How can you say that? Spin when we don’t even know what the first three workouts are. Do we don’t know what the first six are even. I’m

Brian Spin (26:43):

Probably by that is the people that were going to do well on Saturday. That will not make it.

Taylor Self (26:49):

I did the pick chipper today.

John Young (26:52):

How was it? With what?

Andrew Hiller (26:54):

The flip

Taylor Self (26:54):

Andrew Hiller (26:55):

Oh, how’d it go? Wait, I didn’t

Sevan Matossian (26:57):

Understand what been said.

John Young (26:58):

Did you go 15 instead of 10 Taylor?

Taylor Self (27:01):

No, I loaded it heavier.

John Young (27:03):

Sevan Matossian (27:05):

I don’t understand what youre saying. Aren’t there workouts Thursday and Friday and then Friday night there’s cuts. Yes.

Brian Spin (27:12):

I’m saying what we’re going to see is some athletes that we really want to see on Saturday doing the lift, doing the run, doing the gymnastics. We won’t see

Sevan Matossian (27:26):

Those are on Friday. Is that what you’re saying? Can someone pull up the

Brian Spin (27:28):

Schedule? I’m saying the cuts will eliminate people that we want to see

John Young (27:32):

From the top two. They’re going to be the first people to get cut.

Sevan Matossian (27:35):

Yes. Right, right. I understand that. But do we know workouts that are any of the workouts that are one through six?

Taylor Self (27:41):

Yes. We know workout number two and we know Helen and we know we

John Young (27:45):

Don’t know where that is though.

Taylor Self (27:49):

Brian Spin (27:50):

Couple days.

Taylor Self (27:51):

It’s definitely a fact. It’s definitely Thursday, Friday.

Brian Spin (27:54):

It’s not a fact, but it’s, you look at the schedule and that would point to it.

Sevan Matossian (27:59):

Okay, we’ll get the schedule up in just a second. Oh, here we go. Okay, so Thursday the pig chipper and then Friday we don’t know anything.

John Young (28:08):

I assume Helen will be on Friday then

Taylor Self (28:11):

Only three workouts this year.

Andrew Hiller (28:14):

Taylor got any P T S D from that pig or no?

Taylor Self (28:16):

No. None at all. Okay. I slipped in the sand in aromas. It wasn’t the pig, the pigs.

Andrew Hiller (28:23):

So the PTs D is the beach. You can’t go to the beach anymore. It’s not the pig it’s Right,

Taylor Self (28:28):

Right, right. Exactly. P T S D from California because of all the, yeah, seven

Sevan Matossian (28:34):

Nose. He got folded over. He got smooshed. So his face was in his crotch.

John Young (28:39):

How was it Taylor?

Taylor Self (28:41):

It was a lot of arms for me. It wasn’t super metabolic. Yeah, I mean I wasn’t racing anyone

John Young (28:54):

Taylor Self (28:55):

It’s great. It’s a great workout. Yeah, I felt it mostly in the biceps and then it took me 1451 and the flip sleds definitely a little easier. But I did wall balls a little harder. I did lunging wall balls. How

Andrew Hiller (29:06):

Do you figure what’s harder on the wall ball?

Taylor Self (29:09):

I did lunging, like alternating lunge wall balls.

Andrew Hiller (29:13):

You didn’t do the pig chipper then.

Taylor Self (29:15):

That’s the pig chipper dude. It’s the same thing.

Andrew Hiller (29:20):

Alright guys. Taylor didn’t do the pig chipper.

Sevan Matossian (29:23):

You did that workout in 1451. Taylor

Taylor Self (29:27):

With’s awesome by the way. And lunges.

John Young (29:29):

And lunging Wall

Taylor Self (29:30):

Balls. Lunging wall balls. You way more upper body. I think lunging wall balls are easier. You can breathe a little more and I dunno, I feel a squatting wall wall gets your heart rate up more. I’ve never even seen a lunging wall ball. Can you believe that?

Brian Spin (29:45):

How long did it take you to do the first 10 flips?

Taylor Self (29:49):

A minute? Five. It’s definitely easier than the pig.

Brian Spin (29:52):

That’s probably about the same time you’ll see the,

Taylor Self (29:55):

No, I don’t think so. I think the fastest You’ll see somebody.
