The Best Way to ENJOY THE GAMES – The Heat 1 App

Sevan Matossian (00:00):

I feel like forever been just coasting off of the behind the scenes. Bam. We’re live. Hey Chase Ingram here from Get With the programming. John Young from JY Barbell Tyler walked ins from the Heat one app, but he goes by a bunch of different names. He’s like Eminem. He’s got all the names in the house. John Young.

John Young (00:14):

Yes

Sevan Matossian (00:14):

Sir. Looking young as ever. John, when you were sick, what is the Go-to workout? You’re sick. You have a cold. You have a cold. It’s been a nagging cold. Third day into it. You can’t deny it anymore. What’s the GoTo workout?

John Young (00:27):

20 cows on every machine for 40 minutes.

Sevan Matossian (00:31):

Oh, I like that. Okay. Chasing room.

John Young (00:33):

Slow and controlled.

Sevan Matossian (00:36):

You have a cold, your nose is stuffy. Third day in and you’ve been in denial for two days. What’s the workout

Chase Ingraham (00:44):

Shirt off outside? Run

Sevan Matossian (00:47):

Texas. Listen to this Texas guy showing off. So run outside with the shirt off,

Chase Ingraham (00:52):

Gets as much sunlight and sweat. Sweat. Raise your body temp. Just get everything pumping. Not hard, right? Just let your body go at a pace that it’s comfortable with. Just long, slow, steady sunlight. That’s all you want.

Sevan Matossian (01:05):

And ideally some good snot, some good drippage, right? Yeah,

Chase Ingraham (01:10):

Yeah.

Sevan Matossian (01:11):

I mean you want,

Chase Ingraham (01:11):

Man, you’re

Sevan Matossian (01:12):

Doing the one finger snot rockets and

Chase Ingraham (01:15):

Yep, yep.

Tyler Watkins (01:16):

Best football games I ever played. I was sick and I wasn’t sick afterwards. I swear there’s something to it.

Sevan Matossian (01:22):

You do snot rockets, John Young?

John Young (01:24):

No.

Sevan Matossian (01:25):

Oh, okay. Not even when you’re sick, you don’t do it like

John Young (01:30):

I blow my nose.

Sevan Matossian (01:32):

Oh, I do snot rockets. Chase.

Chase Ingraham (01:34):

Yeah. Yeah.

Sevan Matossian (01:35):

Hey, I didn’t start doing snot rockets until I was in my thirties, but I put that in the category of owning power tools, you know what I mean? Or being able to drink water out of a cup above your mouth. You know what I mean? Without putting your lips on the bottle. I just throw it in that category of just like you got to be able to do it.

Chase Ingraham (01:53):

That’s a staple. I remember I would go on runs with my dad young 10 to 15. We’d go on beach runs if we’re on a vacation or just around the neighborhood. And that was a thing to always look out for is like you hang back about five to eight feet. Those things were coming from dad either direction about every five to 10 minutes.

Sevan Matossian (02:12):

A snot rocket or a luie.

Chase Ingraham (02:13):

Yeah. Yeah. So I knew to just stay right behind him to dodge the pers.

Sevan Matossian (02:22):

Mr. Watkins, you’re sick, you have a cold. It’s been two days, you’re in denial. But third day it’s like, man, you got a little pressure, snot rocket, some globules are coming up. What do you do for the workout?

Tyler Watkins (02:34):

I’m sitting on a C two bike and maybe running, doing intervals of C two bike and run outside if you can, which you probably can.

Sevan Matossian (02:42):

Yesterday I sat on the assault bike for 400 calories. Why watch the UFC fights? 49 minutes, 400 calories, just chilling. But with way too many clothes on long Johns overheated sweats. Started with socks, took the socks shirt and long sleeve shirt and sweatshirt, but in two glasses, two pints of water before I start to where I feel like my stomach’s going to pop.

Tyler Watkins (03:09):

Yeah, that’s solid.

Sevan Matossian (03:12):

We’re here tonight because as fun as all the sporting events are, the CrossFit games, they open the water palooza, the Rogue Invitational, and of course our very own Taylor Self versus the world. There are things you can do to make them mos Bueno Moss Funner most funnest and that involves the Heat One app and hopefully the founder and creator of the Heat one app here is here. Tyler Watkin. So Tyler, tell us we’re about to kick off the season. I know that Heat One app was heavily involved with. Was that the first event that you guys were integrated in?

Tyler Watkins (03:48):

Yeah, it was the first one. We were part of the production team, yes. Okay.

Sevan Matossian (03:53):

How did John Young do,

Tyler Watkins (03:57):

John, how did you do,

Sevan Matossian (03:59):

How did John Young do? Well, first of all, before we ask how John and what is the premise of it? Is the Heat one app a fantasy?

Tyler Watkins (04:09):

Yeah, it’s based around fantasy. I think it’s much more simple than we try to accommodate for CrossFitters who I think we’ve generally found out that they don’t do fantasy. So at Waterloo it was basically just pick your top 10 and pick who you think is going to win each event. And if you get that, if you get that right, you get their points or well, not even if you get it right, if you got whatever points that they got. And then you accumulate points throughout the weekend and then highest points win.

Sevan Matossian (04:39):

You pick your top 10 for each event?

Tyler Watkins (04:41):

No, just top 10 overall. So it’s two separate games.

Sevan Matossian (04:45):

So there is a game where you pick the winners for the events and then there’s a game where you pick the top 10. So one of them is kind of like an entry game. Picking the top 10 for the event is like you’re just someone’s mom or dad playing and picking for every event is like you’re a CrossFitter, you follow the athletes, you know what they’re good at, what they’re not good at

Tyler Watkins (05:05):

Top 10

Sevan Matossian (05:05):

Was, or you think you do or you think you do.

Tyler Watkins (05:08):

Top 10 was like, I grew up, well grew up, I listened to Chase’s shows, listen to your shows. And inevitably that’s what people say, who’s your top 10? And so it’s like, okay, let’s just make a point system so you can have that. And so that gets people into the app and then it’s like the next thing people ask is who do you think is going to win this event? And so then we built that game.

Sevan Matossian (05:31):

Okay,

Tyler Watkins (05:31):

So we changed it a little bit for the open. The open is so difficult.

Sevan Matossian (05:39):

Okay, tell me, me, me, me. Tell me, tell me.

Tyler Watkins (05:41):

So there’s this idea of prop bets going on. We’ve been casting them out on our heat. One Instagram channel, who takes the first half of the workout, who’s going to wear pink socks? There’s all kinds of stuff like that out in the sporting world. And so again, we want to meet our customers where they are and it’s like they basically just think about matchups and they think about other little silly things. And so we came up with a prop style, be game for the open.

Sevan Matossian (06:11):

God, you already lost me son of it. What’s prop style? What’s that mean? Do you know? Wait, hold on before I ask, do you know what that means? Chase prop style betting?

Chase Ingraham (06:19):

Yeah, little side bets.

Sevan Matossian (06:20):

Okay,

John Young (06:22):

Over under Emma, Carrie or Danielle. Brandon.

Chase Ingraham (06:27):

Even smaller than that, a prop bet is like you bet on the coin toss for the Super Bowl, is it going to come?

Tyler Watkins (06:33):

Yeah, the coin toss is a good one.

Chase Ingraham (06:35):

Will Dave Castro have, is the national anthem going to take two 30 or less or two 40 or more based off who’s seeing it? So open prop bets is like, is Dave Castro’s explanation going to take three minutes or less or something like that? Little bets along the sides

Sevan Matossian (06:51):

And you choose those so you pop those up. If I have the app, those pop up and then I can weigh in with the group.

Tyler Watkins (06:57):

Yes.

Sevan Matossian (06:57):

Okay.

Tyler Watkins (06:59):

So we know it is actually good that you’re struggling with it because a lot of people I think in CrossFit aren’t familiar with an over under or the idea of a prop bet. So what we’ve done is we’ve basically just manufactured matchups two athletes to watch. And you pick which one you think is going to do better in 24.1, 24.2, 24.3, and we’ve created a point system so you get more points as you get those corrected.

John Young (07:22):

We made it as easy as possible. It works just like how March Madness works when you fill out a bracket in March Madness and even my mom fills out a bracket for March Madness and she doesn’t know the teams, but she picks what she thinks is going to happen and that’s how it works on this too.

Sevan Matossian (07:39):

I felt my testosterone grow up just learning about what a prop bed is. Okay, well listen, before we get too much further into this, if you don’t have the Heat one app on your iPhone, you go to the app store and it’s super easy to find, just type in heat one and get it now because we’re going to walk you through this and this is going to get you invested in the events more and it’s going to allow you to have more fun. And then it’s also going to get you more involved with the C word community. And so you need to download that and it’s also available for the people who use Android, but I don’t know how you do that. I guess you go to Google. I don’t know how you do that. Android, that’s the free phone, right? Sorry, I can’t resist. I know, I know. People in the comments are going to be like, you’re such a tool for chasing the iPhone. I know, I know. Okay, this is like a brand new start right now. What’s going to happen now as the CrossFit game season comes, what do we expect? What’s the first thing now that’s going to pop up for the Heat one app? How we can get involved?

Tyler Watkins (08:46):

Go ahead and share it or I’ll share it. Okay, I got it Or there you go. So you’ll go into the Heat one app. Of course we have the sexy download screen. Thank you goad for sponsoring us by the way, for the open. You’ll go in here and you’ll see these live announcements, right? So first thing

Sevan Matossian (09:01):

You see, go slow. I see him. Brent Falkowski, Ben. So what’s that mean? 27%? 27% of the people think he’s going to win, have already voted. So you’re

Tyler Watkins (09:09):

Going fast. Yeah. The people who have already picked,

Sevan Matossian (09:12):

I’m excited already. I like this already.

Tyler Watkins (09:14):

Jeff Adler, 73% of people have picked Jeff Adler to win. You’re going to get 70 points if you get that right. If you get it wrong, you don’t lose any points, you just don’t get the 70 points. Does that make sense?

Sevan Matossian (09:27):

Why do you get more points if Brent wins? Because that’s a ratio that’s always changing because fewer people picked him. So it’s some sort of Vegas odds, the way the odds change in a fight. As I’m watching the fight

Tyler Watkins (09:38):

Hypothetically, that’s how it would work, but we sort of had to seed it on our own. But think about Brent in the open. Brent’s not classically a great open athlete and so we have to give him more points than Jeff to make it sort of more even on if you want to pick him or not.

Sevan Matossian (09:55):

Okay. Okay. Basically.

John Young (09:57):

So if the chiefs are minus seven to win in a football game, they should win by a touchdown and you pick the other team, right? The other team has to just get within seven, so it’s more risky to pick that team, right? Same thing here.

Sevan Matossian (10:13):

All these,

Tyler Watkins (10:14):

Go ahead.

Sevan Matossian (10:16):

When’s the last time I can pick? Once they make the announcement for the workout, can I still pick?

Tyler Watkins (10:21):

You got till 3, 2, 1, go.

Sevan Matossian (10:23):

Okay, and so are you standing there ready to push a button to stop all

Tyler Watkins (10:28):

Adam? My developer is, but yeah, we’re standing there ready

Sevan Matossian (10:31):

To go. Okay, and will the points change after they announce the workout? Yes.

Tyler Watkins (10:36):

No, no, no, no. They’ll stay the same because if we’re locking it up as the event starts, it’s not going to matter anyway. You’re going to get the 7,110.

Sevan Matossian (10:46):

Okay, so I have mine open right now. How would I pick, and I guess I’m logged in already, right? Yep.

Tyler Watkins (10:53):

As soon as you’ve already downloaded the app. So you’ve already created your profile. As soon as you download the app, you’ll create your profile super easy, we’ll get your email and that’s about it. You’ll create a name and then you’ll be able to make your pick. So then you would just click on either Jeff or Brent there.

Sevan Matossian (11:09):

Okay. Before I do, I want to ask some questions. Chase, who did you pick? Who did I pick? Yeah,

Speaker 5 (11:18):

Between Jeff and Brent. I took

Sevan Matossian (11:19):

Jeff. Okay. And who did you pick? John?

John Young (11:23):

I picked Jeff as

Sevan Matossian (11:24):

Well. And Tyler, who did you pick or is it not appropriate for the founder of the app to tell?

Tyler Watkins (11:28):

I’m picking Jeff. Yeah. Okay.

Sevan Matossian (11:30):

I can’t. Are both Brent and Jeff healthy?

Tyler Watkins (11:33):

Yeah.

Sevan Matossian (11:33):

Okay. I’m picking Brent. As far as I know I’m picking Brent

Tyler Watkins (11:36):

Short of rowing. Is there something that Brent can beat Jeff in?

Sevan Matossian (11:42):

Well, you can watch get with the programming they do shows that discuss topics of wall balls.

Tyler Watkins (11:48):

Balls. Here

Sevan Matossian (11:48):

We go. Rowing. God damn it, Tyler, Tyler can change my choice once I pick Brent

Tyler Watkins (11:55):

All the way up till 3, 2, 1, go.

Sevan Matossian (11:57):

Okay, so for the show I could pick Brent for political reasons, but later when no one’s looking I can switch to Jeff. I’m going to switch to Jeff. Okay. So I pushed Jeff and it switched to Jeff.

Tyler Watkins (12:06):

Yep, there you go.

Sevan Matossian (12:07):

Now use that. Okay, and I’m switching back to Brent

John Young (12:10):

Double unders

Tyler Watkins (12:13):

John’s. So

John Young (12:14):

I’ve just named six things that Brent can beat Jeff at. That’s all I’m saying.

Sevan Matossian (12:17):

Hopefully

Tyler Watkins (12:18):

HQ’s listening

Sevan Matossian (12:20):

And now I see for the women it’s on the same day and it’s Alexis rap versus and Alex Gza. And you guys have a Gaza as the favorite because you get five points less if she wins, is that correct?

Tyler Watkins (12:37):

That’s right. No. So yeah, Alex gets a hundred points. If you get Alexis, you get 105. We feel like that’s a pretty even matchup depending, we don’t know what the workouts are, so it’s really hard for us to set these lines. If we knew the workouts, we would set the lines probably very differently, but not knowing the workouts makes it very hard.

Sevan Matossian (12:59):

Hold on a second. I do not have, who has a touch of sm? That is not me. Normal.

John Young (13:10):

I think he’s talking about me. Tyler said rowing and I said rowing immediately.

Sevan Matossian (13:15):

Okay. Yeah, that’s fair.

John Young (13:16):

I’m a little bit tuned out right now, I apologize. That’s

Sevan Matossian (13:19):

Fair. No, no, that’s

John Young (13:20):

Good. Good.

Sevan Matossian (13:21):

You got a sm, you’re good. Okay. Okay, so I’m going to pick Gza.

Tyler Watkins (13:27):

Good choice.

Sevan Matossian (13:28):

Okay, thank you.

John Young (13:29):

Now I have a question, Tyler.

Sevan Matossian (13:30):

A lot of people don’t get that affirmation from the owner of the company but me. Who did you pick?

Tyler Watkins (13:38):

Who did I pick? I think

Chase Ingraham (13:41):

I think it in as well. Kyle was just so high on her in the last conversation I had with him. I was like, all right, I’ll roll with that.

Sevan Matossian (13:47):

Okay, so you had some proximity bias. John, who did you pick?

John Young (13:50):

Were you sent the same videos that I was sent Chase?

Tyler Watkins (13:53):

No.

John Young (13:54):

All right, that’s cool. I picked Kaza as well.

Sevan Matossian (14:00):

And Tyler, who did you pick?

Tyler Watkins (14:03):

I picked L Alexis Raps.

Sevan Matossian (14:05):

Okay, Alexis,

John Young (14:06):

Lemme ask this question. Go for it. Are you allowed to change all the way up into they start the announcement?

Tyler Watkins (14:14):

Yeah. So

John Young (14:15):

When you hear

Tyler Watkins (14:15):

Three, one go.

John Young (14:17):

Okay, so the second handstand pushups is announced. If it is announced, which it won’t be, but if it is, I can switch to Alexis Raptors.

Tyler Watkins (14:27):

Yep,

John Young (14:28):

Okay.

Sevan Matossian (14:28):

Which would be smart. She’s the best in the world at that, right?

John Young (14:32):

Yes sir.

Tyler Watkins (14:32):

Yep.

Chase Ingraham (14:33):

I dunno why I’m guessing I have the app right in front of me.

Sevan Matossian (14:35):

God, I want to question That’s totally, I want to ask a question that’s totally inappropriate for this show, but how is Alexis Raptors maybe we could for different shows, so good at handstand pushups because she’s, I don’t know if this is the word, her ratios are like, she’s like a normal looking girl and I would figure that the best in the world at that, at handstand pushups wouldn’t be normal looking, you know what I mean? She doesn’t got stubby arms, her torso to legs and she doesn’t have weird forearms. She’s so normal.

Tyler Watkins (15:06):

She was a gymnast as a kid too, wasn’t she?

John Young (15:09):

Yeah, but there are a lot of gymnasts as a kid and they don’t do handstand pushups like her.

Sevan Matossian (15:13):

Yeah. Alright, we have to get her on the air and ask her. Okay, so Chase, are you going to tell us who you picked? Was it Gaza?

Chase Ingraham (15:21):

Gaza? Yes.

Sevan Matossian (15:22):

You have a confirmation and what does this mean? A brailler tender? We can’t see the app.

Tyler Watkins (15:28):

Not sure.

John Young (15:29):

I think they want you to zoom in.

Sevan Matossian (15:32):

Oh, like on this?

Tyler Watkins (15:33):

Oh yeah, I’ll try.

Sevan Matossian (15:36):

Maybe

Chase Ingraham (15:36):

Pull up on your phones.

Sevan Matossian (15:37):

Yeah, yeah.

Tyler Watkins (15:38):

Follow along on your phone

Sevan Matossian (15:40):

If you’re not watching on tv. Yeah, you need to follow along on your phone. Sorry. Okay. Braylin tender fitness competitor. I have a 30 20 vision thanks to Sun gazing and I can’t even read that. Okay. Alright. Okay. Heat one app is, okay, this is Tyler’s boss, Brailer tender fitness competitor. If you change your phone to dark mode, it should be easier to read.

Tyler Watkins (16:04):

There you go.

Sevan Matossian (16:05):

Okay. Look at that. Already support.

Chase Ingraham (16:09):

You can’t see it just normally.

Tyler Watkins (16:13):

I don’t think that’s true. We put a lot of time into the light versus dark mode.

Sevan Matossian (16:18):

Okay, hold on Bonnie, settle down. Settle down here, you settle down. Go pee or something if we’re moving too slow for you, take a piss or something.

John Young (16:25):

Yeah, wait until we get to tee it Bonnie.

Sevan Matossian (16:27):

Okay, so that’s the live announcement. 24.1 and then, oh look at this. Holy shit. Oh, let’s scroll down to the most important part. So then there’s the live show down. So that’s Thursday night,

Tyler Watkins (16:40):

Friday night, that would be Friday night. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Sevan Matossian (16:43):

But the live announcement is, oh yeah,

Tyler Watkins (16:45):

The live announcement is

Sevan Matossian (16:46):

And do we know what time they’re going? Chase

Chase Ingraham (16:49):

11. Well 11:00 AM Pacific is when the show starts, but typically the announcement for the open workout won’t be until noon Pacific because they’re doing this multiple event thing, which you don’t have a whole lot of details on yet, but I know the show starts at 11 and typically the announcements has always been at noon with the new time slot.

Sevan Matossian (17:11):

Okay, so that’s something else to take into consideration when you’re choosing is the fact that they will have already done workouts and we will have not seen them. Do those workouts

Chase Ingraham (17:20):

Know what they are too? So that might change people’s picks.

Sevan Matossian (17:24):

We already know what they are.

Chase Ingraham (17:26):

No, no. We’ll know what they did prior to so that might sway what they did and what the event actually ends up being for 24.1 and could sway your picks depending on how you look at

Sevan Matossian (17:35):

It. So if the,

John Young (17:37):

Go ahead Simon.

Sevan Matossian (17:38):

If the first workout, Cindy, we know that probably the open workout doesn’t have pull-ups in it.

Tyler Watkins (17:43):

Yes

Chase Ingraham (17:46):

That. Because we can still pick, I think what Tyler is saying is they can announce the event and we can still change our pick. It’s up until they say go it locks. So what I’m saying is that maybe they do Cindy for the first workout. How is that going to affect people’s performance with the event that they announce? I’m not worried about what the movements are. I’m worrying about what the first event may do for the athletes.

Sevan Matossian (18:10):

Well, okay, but I’m saying if the first workout has handstand pushups, then it’s probably safe to assume that 24.1 won’t have workouts and so therefore don’t pick wrap this pig gza. Wait, hold on, hold on. We’ve already seen limitations of the Heat One app, I apologize on behalf of Tyler Watkins group, black John Young. Will the Heat one app work on my phone with Cricket Wireless and the engineer at Heat one app has responded. Sorry, we don’t support your kind. Yeah, I don’t know if I like the wording on that. That’s the word. Big trouble.

Chase Ingraham (18:43):

Does it work on 3G?

Sevan Matossian (18:45):

Adam? Adam, we will be posting data on how the votes change as workout details are released. We will be posting data. Well we can see how the votes change. Is this data updated in real time?

Tyler Watkins (18:59):

Yep. Okay,

Sevan Matossian (19:02):

So I voted and it didn’t change. Brent,

Tyler Watkins (19:05):

We need more people to vote. Well it’s your one vote.

Chase Ingraham (19:06):

Yeah, I know you think a lot of yourself in this state.

Tyler Watkins (19:11):

Same as the election there. Hopefully

Chase Ingraham (19:13):

There’s more than four people on the app

Sevan Matossian (19:15):

Right now. I’m going to stuff the ballot. Okay. Oh and some name calling here. Barclay Dale. You’re a nerd Adam. Damn Jesus crying. Okay. Okay, this is getting too personal here. Okay, so what were you going to say John?

John Young (19:34):

I was going to say that wall balls are probably not in the first workout because of that Instagram posts. They’re talking about the very first workout they’re doing had wall ball targets in it.

Tyler Watkins (19:45):

Did I miss this?

Chase Ingraham (19:47):

Yeah, they had barbell wall ball targets, barbell

John Young (19:49):

And wall balls.

Tyler Watkins (19:50):

Oh boy.

Sevan Matossian (19:51):

And well I heard the gym that they’re doing the event in only has six foot ceilings. Okay. Live and it has a swimming pool there.

Tyler Watkins (20:04):

Nice on the roof.

Sevan Matossian (20:05):

Yes. So then we go to Friday show and by then you’re warmed up with the heat one app and this is where things get really interesting Taylor self. Oh my god. So are you, if Taylor wins, you get 130 points and if Dallen wins you get 70 points. Are you guys suggesting that Taylor has no chance? I mean that’s twice as many points.

Tyler Watkins (20:25):

I knew we were going to cover this. Taylor is the person to prove here. He’s been out for a couple seasons now and dLAN is very good at the open.

Sevan Matossian (20:38):

The champion CrossFit games champion past and future.

Chase Ingraham (20:43):

Yep. Yep.

Tyler Watkins (20:45):

Okay. I would say so. We’ll see.

Sevan Matossian (20:48):

Oh, Taylor, John Young. Who did you vote for?

John Young (20:51):

I voted for da.

Sevan Matossian (20:53):

Oh. Oh, okay. Well you made it sound like we’ll see Tyler, who did you vote for?

Tyler Watkins (20:57):

Taylor

Sevan Matossian (20:58):

And John. Do you vote strict because your reputation’s on the line even if you’ve wanted to vote for Taylor, would you not? Because so many people are judging you based on your That’s

Tyler Watkins (21:08):

Not true. He changed his picks in the bracket thing we did on spin because I picked somebody and he picked up.

Sevan Matossian (21:18):

So he does have some emotion that’s gotten through the M

John Young (21:22):

And unless the second the workout gets announced, I’ll analyze everything and then make my picks according to that. But just blindly down is fitter than Taylor and Down is good at the open. So I’m going to pick down now if the workout is freaking chest to Bar City and just wheelhouse for Taylor, then I’m going to pick a tailor

Sevan Matossian (21:45):

And we have to assume that it’s going to be Dave comes out, he’s at the whiteboard, he tells us the workout, he throws the pen and then he looks at the athletes and goes, you have three minutes to warm up.

Tyler Watkins (21:55):

And then he looks at the camera and he says, now go to heat one and make your picks.

Sevan Matossian (21:59):

Oh that would be be cool. That would be cool. Is there any chance if you

Chase Ingraham (22:02):

Wearing heat one shirt?

Tyler Watkins (22:04):

Yeah

Sevan Matossian (22:05):

Guys, if you’re in the comments for the live stream, all of you are listening now you guys should do that. You guys should support Tyler Watkins app because the more people the better and you should start writing that and hey everyone, go to Heat one app, go to Heat one app. Who’s your heat? One app picks and let’s just blow Tyler up.

Tyler Watkins (22:20):

Appreciate that.

Sevan Matossian (22:21):

Yeah, I mean it’s the right thing to do. Everyone knows it adheres to John’s strong Christian values.

Tyler Watkins (22:30):

It does. If it benefits me, it is the right thing to do.

Sevan Matossian (22:34):

Okay, Mr. Chase Ingram, let’s get with the programming. Did you pick yet between Taylor and dLAN? I did. And who did you pick?

Chase Ingraham (22:46):

I picked Taylor.

Sevan Matossian (22:47):

Oh the Born Primitive. The guy representing Born Primitive in the Savage ones. I picked

Chase Ingraham (22:51):

Taylor a lot. Kind of the opposite of John is like I’m just going to pick him now so I feel better about just not picking ’em. And then when the workout happens then we’ll see.

John Young (23:03):

I already know which one I’m picking. I am picking Taylor to win one of these Showdowns, but it’s not this one.

Sevan Matossian (23:10):

Do you think that this affects the outcome of the workout at all these numbers the way we choose?

Tyler Watkins (23:18):

I wish that’d be cool.

John Young (23:20):

Well I tell you what, if Alexis rap beats Alex Gaza in the announcement, but then the further one is Ariel Lowen. I’m going to DM Alex Gaza to redo the workout so I can be right in my

Sevan Matossian (23:32):

Wait, I didn’t follow that. Say that again?

John Young (23:36):

Because in the bracket there’s an Alex Gaza versus Ariel Lowen.

Sevan Matossian (23:42):

Oh.

Tyler Watkins (23:42):

Oh. I need to pull that up

John Young (23:44):

And down. If you keep doing these picks, it’s down there.

Sevan Matossian (23:49):

Okay,

Tyler Watkins (23:51):

Yeah, that’s a good point.

Sevan Matossian (23:52):

So we’ll get to the bracket thing. Okay, so that’s different. Okay. And the bracket is based on their overall finish with that workout, not the, I was afraid some porn was going to pop up.

Tyler Watkins (24:07):

No, you’re good.

Sevan Matossian (24:08):

Okay. But the bracket is different because even if Gaza’s time won’t be official for the bracket until it’s official by CrossFit.

Tyler Watkins (24:17):

So for the announcement based

Sevan Matossian (24:18):

On penalties or how many times they do it or all that shit

Tyler Watkins (24:22):

In the announcement portion of this, we’re going to do who wins in the announcement and in the later part, the bracket part we’re going to do based on the open leaderboard itself.

Sevan Matossian (24:33):

Okay. Okay. So just because if Gaza wins here doesn’t mean she’s going to win in the bracket.

Tyler Watkins (24:39):

Okay,

Sevan Matossian (24:40):

Alright. Oh god, this is a lot of pressure.

Tyler Watkins (24:46):

If you don’t pick Taylor, you’re the worst.

Sevan Matossian (24:49):

I’m picking Taylor. Thank you. I’m picking Taylor. Okay, wait, I’m going to pick down, lemme see what happens. Oh, when I picked Taylor it went to 26%.

Tyler Watkins (24:57):

Nice. There you go.

Sevan Matossian (25:00):

Okay. Alright. And when I picked down he goes to 75 and Taylor goes to 25. So the math is right, it adds up to a hundred percent. You’re

Tyler Watkins (25:08):

Right there on the

Sevan Matossian (25:09):

Line. Yeah. Okay. That’s good. Okay.

John Young (25:12):

Is there a way to make, and I don’t mean to make Adam’s job harder, I thought this was how it

Tyler Watkins (25:16):

Works. I already knew that enough

John Young (25:18):

Until you said this is just the points that we picked. The more the people pick a person, the more points the other person would get. For instance, if Dalan shot at 80%, then it’s 140 points for Taylor.

Sevan Matossian (25:32):

We covered that in the beginning. Not yet. That’s next year

Tyler Watkins (25:35):

Iteration too. Okay.

John Young (25:38):

That’d be sweet though.

Tyler Watkins (25:39):

Yeah, I mean we hope to get there to where we can automatically update this stuff. It’s just we’ve got some work to do.

Sevan Matossian (25:48):

CrossFit Taylor injured himself pretending to do a games workout to test for Dave. That’s accurate. I feel like Taylor will end up in hospital before he loses the workout that is live. My pick is purely based on this. Yeah, I mean he’s going to fight to the death Savon. Thank you. Will the Adaptives open announcements be part of the Heat one app? God not if he wants it to be successful. Dear God

Tyler Watkins (26:19):

The answer is no.

Sevan Matossian (26:20):

Listen, liking the Masters in Adaptive is a facade. Listen, that’s a PR stunt, but you’re hating the comments. Thank you for the algo. Maybe in the future, right? As that gets more and more robust. I mean small team, small team,

Tyler Watkins (26:37):

Right? I mean it’s like we got to go on volume here. Where can we get the most eyes and do have a very small team so we can only spread people so thin on this.

Sevan Matossian (26:46):

Okay, and then on Sunday guys, if you didn’t know we’re having a special show

Tyler Watkins (26:54):

Saturday.

Sevan Matossian (26:57):

Saturday, sorry, Saturday. So Thursday we have a show ripping on the open and pumping up our show on Friday. Then Friday we have our show Taylor versus the World. And then on Saturday, if you didn’t know, now you know there’s a special bonus we will be doing a bracket around and we’ll go live with the underdogs. Athletics athletes, people like Ricky Gerard, Alex Gza, do they have any other big name athletes? Yeah,

John Young (27:25):

Grace Walton.

Sevan Matossian (27:26):

Oh, Grace Walton. That’s the swimmer girl. You guys all like

Tyler Watkins (27:29):

Caitlin Van Zeal.

Sevan Matossian (27:31):

Caitlyn Van Zeal. Alright, alright. Okay, so

John Young (27:34):

In there too,

Sevan Matossian (27:36):

What is this? Why are they teamed up? What does that mean? So

Tyler Watkins (27:41):

We just made the call on this actually. So I’ve been going back and forth with Keefer and Kotler on this and Ricky presents a problem. There’s not very many people in the world fitter than Ricky, especially in the Open, but then also in his own camp. So in the underdogs camp, who are we going to put against Ricky in a one-on-one Showdown who’s going to likely beat him or have greater than a 25% chance of beating him?

Sevan Matossian (28:09):

You put who you think is the worst girl out of Caitlyn and Grace?

Tyler Watkins (28:13):

I don’t think so because Grace Beat or Caitlyn beat Grace last year in the open. Then why

John Young (28:19):

Do you put Caitlin with Ricky?

Tyler Watkins (28:21):

Because we think that Grace for two reasons. We think Grace has gotten much better this year and Zain her, our partners, they date and so it’s like I’m not splitting ’em up. I’m not being that guy.

Sevan Matossian (28:34):

Okay. Wow, this is really getting unprofessional. Chase. If there were tiers to the athletes who perform at the CrossFit games, is Ricky in the top tier

Chase Ingraham (28:46):

Currently at the CrossFit

Tyler Watkins (28:47):

Games? Yeah.

Sevan Matossian (28:48):

Yes. Is there anyone above him in that?

Tyler Watkins (28:51):

Above him?

Sevan Matossian (28:52):

No. Who else? And who else is in that tier?

Chase Ingraham (28:54):

Ricky, Roman, Adler.

Sevan Matossian (28:56):

Okay. Not Justin?

Tyler Watkins (28:58):

No,

Sevan Matossian (28:58):

No. Pat, he said Vellner. Oh, you didn’t say Ner? No, he didn’t say no. He

John Young (29:04):

Said Ricky, Roman, and Adler.

Chase Ingraham (29:06):

And then one B is Justin and Pat.

John Young (29:14):

I would say Pat and Kakowski and then Madero is under them.

Sevan Matossian (29:18):

Man, you guys man, pat

Chase Ingraham (29:20):

Kakowski and Madero is under them.

John Young (29:21):

Pat? No, pat Wakowski And then Madero

Sevan Matossian (29:23):

Sports really are what have you done for me lately?

Tyler Watkins (29:28):

That’s

John Young (29:28):

Sports Wakowski depends on programming a lot more than the others, but I would put ’em there still.

Sevan Matossian (29:34):

Okay. And then you can go and then what is this? A heat one bracket challenge.

Tyler Watkins (29:40):

Oh, what are these things down here now? So if you’ve been watching our Instagram channel or watched us on the barbell spin, we made a bracket for this year. If you go to our website, you can actually pull it up The Heat one app or heat one app. So we made an NCAA March Madness style bracket.
