Sevan Matossian (00:00):
It felt like it was almost hailing.
Matthew Souza (00:02):
Yeah, the wind was nuts. Here Grace is setting up an obstacle course at the gym and inside of there. It sounded crazy because it’s like a little tin roof and shit. What’s the
Sevan Matossian (00:12):
Deal with Livermore? You’re in kind of a wind tunnel, right? You’re kind of in a little valley there. I mean, it’s covered with windmills anyway, right?
Matthew Souza (00:19):
Yeah. It’s coming just down off the Altamont Pass too, so it’s right into there, into the valley.
Sevan Matossian (00:26):
God, I’m so proud of last night’s show.
Matthew Souza (00:29):
It did awesome. It was
Sevan Matossian (00:31):
Great. I’m so proud of last night’s show. So proud. Yeah,
Matthew Souza (00:36):
Man, what a stud.
Sevan Matossian (00:38):
Taylor.
Matthew Souza (00:39):
Yeah,
Sevan Matossian (00:40):
Yeah, unreal. Thank him. And dLAN, the fact that they did all that and asked for nothing in return is crazy,
Matthew Souza (00:48):
Crazy, crazy.
Sevan Matossian (00:49):
I know. dLAN had to fly out there, stay the night, go in someone else’s gym as hard as he can. He’s the fittest man in America, so I mean, he acts cool, but he’s putting it on the line. I mean, he should be proud of his score. Sub six is insane.
Matthew Souza (01:07):
Oh, I think he definitely was, and I think he was stoked. The fact that he got that fast and he got to go next to Taylor, who has the fastest time now, you know what I mean?
Sevan Matossian (01:17):
Crazy. That’s
Matthew Souza (01:17):
Perfect for him.
Sevan Matossian (01:20):
I wanted to show you something that I thought was kind of important to talk about. There’s this, it’s kind of a running joke here, but lemme see if I can
Speaker 3 (01:36):
Hold Jeff Adler. He looks a little thicker than
Sevan Matossian (01:40):
If I can refresh this a second. So I’m going to play this for you guys. This is from Hiller’s Instagram yesterday. It’s sporty. Be the first thing. Or Bethany Johnson, whatever her name is. Bethany. She says, it’s funny when we call her Supporty Beth, I feel like I’m making fun of her, even though that’s her name, right? That’s what she wants people to call her.
Matthew Souza (02:02):
That’s what she chose. Yeah.
Sevan Matossian (02:04):
Yeah. That’s funny. I feel like I’m being
Matthew Souza (02:07):
Mean to her.
Sevan Matossian (02:08):
Yeah, like it’s facetious or something or sarcastic. Okay, here we go. Listen to this.
Beth (02:12):
I feel so sorry for this guy. It, it’s never okay to comment on someone’s
Speaker 3 (02:15):
Body. What about Jeff Adler? He looks a little thicker than we’ve seen him,
Speaker 5 (02:21):
Right? We saw him yesterday and that was the first thing I noticed, and we talked to his coach and partner, Carolyn, and we asked him is he bigger? And she said, yeah, he’s a little chunky, so I wouldn’t call that chunky.
Sevan Matossian (02:31):
First of all, I kudos for Hiller for letting this play out so that the Lone Ranger and Annie can redeem themselves. If he’d have cut it there, he could have cut it there and misrepresented, but he didn’t. He let it play out. So kudos to Hiller for that.
Speaker 3 (02:45):
If that’s chunky, I’m in trouble,
Speaker 6 (02:48):
But I’ll take an example of the person that we’re
Sevan Matossian (02:52):
Talking. Okay. Before we go there, my stance on it, I’m okay with the double standard. This is going to be confusing for some of you. I’m totally okay with the double standard. I think that there’s nuances between, oh, we’ll come back to it. Hold on. Look. Who’s here? Yo, what’s up dude?
Taylor Self (03:13):
What’s up? Is my audio okay?
Sevan Matossian (03:14):
Dude, so good. Even better. Your face is good.
Matthew Souza (03:18):
You were hurting last night in that press conference, let’s call
Taylor Self (03:21):
It. Yeah, I am not going to be able to look at a perfect bar for a year. I think that’s what it was. I had one an hour before. Dude, there’s so much fat in those. The only other time I’ve thrown up from a workout was seven years ago and I did a salt bike sprints after I had some almonds and cottage cheese and the fat. Just not a good idea.
Sevan Matossian (03:41):
Hey dude. In hindsight, when you reflect on that, what are your thoughts? Just on anything, the night, the buildup, the actual workout, as you reflect on it, you had any reflections? Coolest
Taylor Self (03:52):
Part for me was our members getting to watch down, meet him. We have, I
Sevan Matossian (03:59):
Saw the video of him playing with little kids. That was dope.
Taylor Self (04:04):
I mean, there are members here that have been here for 13, 14 years that watch Spencer through his years of the games and are just huge fans. So to be able to just have that really is huge to be able to put on a good performance for you.
Sevan Matossian (04:23):
I’m so proud. I’m
Taylor Self (04:25):
So proud. Just really appreciate the opportunity. I think that truly was best case scenario for me. Sorry, talent.
Sevan Matossian (04:34):
It was cool. How long before the workout was gone. You mean you were like, oh, after you were done you’re like, I’m Taylor Self who just did a workout and it’s fucked up. How long before you were just Taylor Self again?
Taylor Self (04:48):
Oh, an hour later we were at dinner and I was fine. I had talk.
Sevan Matossian (04:52):
So you ate?
Taylor Self (04:53):
Yeah, I had three tacos at Condado Taco, awesome place in Charlotte. I actually sent JR the address in Google Maps and we get there, there’s two in Charlotte and I get there, I’m waiting for five minutes, I call. I’m like, where the fuck are you? And he’s like, he’s like, you know what? I didn’t have the Google Maps app, so I just searched it in iPhone maps and I think we went to the wrong one. I had to drive across town, but we had tacos. It was good. Hung out. It was cool. I am signed up for the open, Christine Young, just so you know for
Sevan Matossian (05:23):
Sure. Why? What does she say? Oh, is Taylor not signing up for the Open Up? Have you put your score in yet? Have you put your score in?
Taylor Self (05:29):
No, I haven’t. I’ll probably wait. Even though that video’s public, I just, for everyone who goes, I hate when people gate keep their scores shut. This is the thing. And what Down said last night is true. When you know something’s possible, it makes it easier for you to do it. Look at the sub four minute mile. It was impossible. One guy does it years later, 10 guys do it now. A world record, if you want to be good at running a mile a sub four, you have to be. So just knowing something’s possible makes it easier for you. So all these little fuckers are probably going to go redo, watch that video, whatever. But no, I’m not going to post it probably until Monday because it is a bucket list item for me to win an open workout.
Sevan Matossian (06:12):
Oh, that’s cool.
Taylor Self (06:13):
That would be cool. Are they giving money away? I could use
Sevan Matossian (06:16):
Them. 2024. 2020 $4. I think it’s whatever the year is. Oh fuck
Taylor Self (06:23):
Yeah, dude.
Sevan Matossian (06:25):
I think that’s a Greg Glassman throwback. I think Greg came up with that. That’s five months of a
Taylor Self (06:30):
Car payment for my new car.
Sevan Matossian (06:33):
Five months.
Taylor Self (06:34):
Yeah. Wait, what is that? 400 bucks.
Sevan Matossian (06:36):
Wow. Wow. Is that, yeah, that’s a cheap car payment. That’s good. I like that. Good. Good math.
Matthew Souza (06:42):
Yeah, checks out.
Sevan Matossian (06:43):
Hey Susa, will your typical gym goer be sore after they do the open workout?
Matthew Souza (06:48):
Oh yeah. Their back’s going to be a little, dude that was
Taylor Self (06:50):
A little sore. I didn’t think I would be sore at all. My back’s a little sore.
Matthew Souza (06:53):
Yeah, yeah. I mean obviously they’re not putting in the intensity that Taylor just did, but in their own respective intensity, they definitely are. So I think 90 snatches, they’ll be feeling it a little bit today and tomorrow.
Sevan Matossian (07:03):
Oh, interesting. Okay. I mean, I didn’t even finish the workout. I don’t feel anything. I just feel like shit
Matthew Souza (07:09):
Coming down, you got to come down and do it in a gym. The difference between you doing it with your camera set up at home, and if you come down here to the gym and you do it with everybody, when the music’s cranking and everybody’s all nervous and I’m there with the camera, you’re going to go 10 times harder than you would at the house.
Sevan Matossian (07:25):
Oh, interesting. Okay. And did you get that Taylor?
Taylor Self (07:30):
Yeah. You definitely, I watched the show back actually because I wanted to comment on something PR said. I do a really good job of putting myself in a place that I don’t think a lot of people can go when I’m alone. So when it’s cameras on you and everybody’s around, you have somebody race against, it just makes it super easy to do that. And I’m normal. I quit workouts. There are workouts, I start around, literally there are workouts where I’m like, I’m not going to go that hard, which is a form of quitting. And then there are workouts where I fill on just stop. I’m like, I’m not doing this today. So when the camera’s on you, it makes it pretty impossible to do that for me. I’m like, there’s no fucking way. I’d rather die than be seen by anyone else do that. If it’s just me, you have nobody to disappoint. But if somebody else is there, if I’m training with a partner, I’m not fucking stopping. Well, for the most part, but JR said on the show last night, he was like, I’m unique in that I can have probably pretty high level of disregard for what it’s going to feel like. I was pretty proud of that. I knew it was going to hurt and I got halfway through and it was really hurting and I was like, you’re not fucking stopping bitch, bitch.
Sevan Matossian (08:46):
I basically had zero intensity. I am not sore. I did not listen to music. And last night before I went to bed, I did 10 cows on the assault bike, 10 fucking, I dunno what you call ’em,
Taylor Self (09:00):
Tri French press.
Sevan Matossian (09:01):
Yeah. And six pull-ups for 10 rounds as I caught up on UFC videos. So I worked out
Taylor Self (09:06):
Six shirt, by the way.
Sevan Matossian (09:07):
Yeah, they did a good job,
Taylor Self (09:09):
Dude. I hope the backdrop looked okay and I’m, dude, it looked great. I’m going to be in trouble. I was cutting the zip ties down this morning and I cut one of the banners, but they sent a lot of them. That was half of what we used, but my bad,
Sevan Matossian (09:24):
I think they’re really stoked. What’s interesting, I was looking in, so that video already has 14,000 views, and so I went over to 24.1 to see what CrossFit games has and they have a million views, but I know that people go there to hear the announcement of the workout, that’s why they’re going over there. They want to hear what 24.1 is. But also then I start reading the comments and the quality of comments are just so different. The group that’s watching this show, it’s such an intimate show and the comments are so well thought out and complimentary, and those ones over there are just like
Taylor Self (10:03):
Asshole
Sevan Matossian (10:04):
Comments. The
Taylor Self (10:05):
Two comments that stuck out to me the most, one last night I noticed it when I was on the stream. Someone was like, damn, I want to try Sentinel training now. So that excited me. Oh,
Sevan Matossian (10:14):
That’s awesome.
Taylor Self (10:15):
Yeah, that was cool. And then well,
Sevan Matossian (10:17):
You represented Sentinel training like a mofo, right?
Taylor Self (10:20):
Yeah, you did. And then the other one was, this lady goes right after that first commercial. She goes, I just ordered a pair of born primitive savage ones. I was like, dude, awesome. Fuck yeah, that commercial was the tactical one. Nuts. That was so cool. It reminded me of the movie Active Valor, and that’s one of my favorite movies ever. Just such a badass commercial. And someone put in the comments here, Savage Ones first. The rad ones. And I have completely, truthfully, I’ve not worn my rad trainers since I’ve gotten these to work out in except for rope climbs because I only have one pair of these and I don’t want to fuck them up. And they’re already kind of dirty. So you see how dirty they are. I’ve had ’em for two weeks. That’s how much I’ve worn them. They’re fucking amazing. And also Rad can suck a cock because two years ago when they dropped at Waap Palooza, I sent ’em a message. I was like, Hey, I’d love to try your shoes out, whatever. I just maybe won the swim workout or something. So it wasn’t like I was a total nobody, but I was kind of a nobody and maybe a douche bag thing for me to do to ask for a pair of shoes. But I was like, is there anything I could do in exchange for you guys sending me a pair of shoes? They just read it and didn’t respond. So you know what rad, fuck you.
(11:38):
And I hope they get zero views with talking Elite Fitness. Your guys head to head matchups are going to,
Sevan Matossian (11:43):
When do those show? I thought they were going to oppose their shit last night. I was so kind, excited to go head to head. I had no idea.
Taylor Self (11:50):
It was kind of, this is funny, asymmetric years. Do you know who I am?
Sevan Matossian (11:56):
Yeah. You know who I am, motherfucker. No. You know how I’m going to be
Taylor Self (11:59):
After they left me on red. I was like, I don’t blame ’em. But no, I love
Sevan Matossian (12:03):
The B Hey, do you like a white toe box? Is that your deal?
Taylor Self (12:05):
Dude, they’re amazing. They are so comfortable. The only thing I was a little worried about is the shoe laces. I double nodded them a ton because on my other shoes, I taped the laces because if they come undone in a workout, that’s all your fault and anything could cause that. But I didn’t tape the laces. I double nodded ’em so comfortable.
Sevan Matossian (12:24):
How about the stepping back thing? Taylor
Taylor Self (12:27):
And the burpee?
Sevan Matossian (12:27):
Yeah. Yeah. 3, 2, 1, go. Someone in the comment says, Hey, they didn’t have their back to the barbell. Yeah, and will kind of unfucked them. Will’s like, yeah, they just didn’t turn around. They took a step back. Whose idea was that?
Taylor Self (12:41):
I asked someone if we could do that. Someone, oh, Bryson, when I was warming up. So if the dumbbell, if I was standing behind the dumbbell right now and this metal piece is my dumbbell, Bryson was like, don’t even turn around, just reach through your legs and grab the dumbbell. So I fucked around with that and then I was like, oh, can I just step back? And he was like, I think so. And I told down, I was like, Hey, we’re stepping back. We’re not turning around. I don’t think it said anywhere in the standards that we had to turn around. It just says start with your back facing the dumbbell at 3, 2, 1, go begin your dumbbell snatches. So we stepped back and all the little ding dongs doing a little loopy do jump and sorry, you’re not as smart as me. If you followed my training program, you’ve now,
Sevan Matossian (13:19):
Yeah, that’s a G. Move those
Matthew Souza (13:20):
Insights. Hey, do you know if that, what happened to the people during the open announcement? What was their score? Valid
Taylor Self (13:27):
Open announcement. Oh, they didn’t start with their back. I heard
Sevan Matossian (13:30):
They got three seconds put on, but I don’t know if that
Taylor Self (13:32):
Yeah, invalidate their score so they can go redo Jeff. Still won’t beat that. No chance.
Sevan Matossian (13:37):
Hey, isn’t that interesting? There’s all these videos out. Everyone’s put out a video tips for 24.1, but I think that’s the best tip I’ve heard right there.
Taylor Self (13:48):
I would disagree. I think
Sevan Matossian (13:49):
If you step back over the
Taylor Self (13:51):
Dumbbell, this is my biggest tip. If you are going to have trouble completing the workout in under 10 minutes and you think you’re going to be over 10 minutes or struggle to even finish it, break the dumbbell snatches from the start and I would go 8, 7, 6 on the first set of 20 ones, 8, 7, 6 on the second set of 20 ones, then 9, 6, 9, 6. And then whatever you have on the last, I think breaking the dumbbell snatch up and taking two deliberate breaths between each set. So you do a set of eight, set it down, one, two, pick it back up, go is the way to go. And that would probably give you the best outcome and step back herpes.
Sevan Matossian (14:24):
I broke all mine up, but I kind of almost went to failure. I got to 14 on the first set and I was like, uhoh
Taylor Self (14:31):
Bryson’s here.
Sevan Matossian (14:32):
He’s going to, oh, nice. Oh nice. Hey, what did he say? What did he think about your performance? Let’s see. Yeah, totally.
Taylor Self (14:41):
Okay, cool. What you
Matthew Souza (14:43):
Guys
Sevan Matossian (14:43):
Plug it in, Bryce? And what did you think of that dude? Were you surprised he got that time? Were you surprised when he got that time? Yeah. Hell
Taylor Self (14:49):
No.
Bryce (14:50):
I was telling everybody I was in the chat the whole time, he was warming up. I was like, Hey guys, Taylor’s about to lay his dick on the table. Show you
Sevan Matossian (14:56):
Guys.
Bryce (14:59):
Yeah, and I was telling Jason before, I told Jason before they were both going to go sub six and he was like, dude, you don’t even know how hard that is. And I was like, I know, but they do.
Taylor Self (15:14):
Jason before the workout was like, oh, I did it earlier, but I’m not going to tell you my time. I’m not going to give you any help. And I was thinking to myself, I was like, he really thinks that him telling me his slow ass time is going to affect what I’m about to do at all.
Bryce (15:28):
When it built your confidence that you could beat him, he didn’t want. Yeah,
Taylor Self (15:30):
Maybe. I dunno. Or
Sevan Matossian (15:32):
It would’ve
Taylor Self (15:32):
Slowed me down.
Sevan Matossian (15:34):
I know that it’s a lot to ask a gym owner to bring in all those cameras to stay open, to let people, extra 60 people come in or 80 people come in and use your shitter, make a mess, all that. How did Andy’s and he’s been around the block, he’s seen it all. He’s probably not too excited by this kind of shit. How did Andy take it? I should buy him something to thank him.
Taylor Self (15:57):
He really loves it. There’s one everybody. The community loves it. One thing that I think we do better than most affiliates is our group of competitive people and like me, or sorry, our group of competitive people and everyone who takes class are all really close. And it’s not like these two cliques, they really support the competitive group and are attached to it. Andy’s a hard ass, so they don’t disrespect anything. Class comes first. So they know that and it’s just a really good group. So when something like this happens, the whole community galvanizes, they get behind it, they all show up, everybody’s drinking beer, hanging out. He loves it. And I mean he took Spencer through eight games,
Bryce (16:44):
Individual
Taylor Self (16:45):
Appearances
Sevan Matossian (16:45):
From through that gym. That’s the gym that Spencer took. Wow.
Taylor Self (16:48):
Through that gym to start. I think initially, honestly, I think Spencer was doing handstand pushups in the bathroom of AB state because they wouldn’t let him do it in the rec center. So that’s what he’s coming from. So he just
Sevan Matossian (16:58):
Loved because it’s dangerous. It’s dangerous to do handstand pushups. I
Taylor Self (17:01):
Don’t know. Don’t mess the walls up probably. But
Bryce (17:03):
He just loves the sport.
Taylor Self (17:04):
So he loves everything about the methodology of the sport. That’s the coolest part about working for him is he both sides of it. And the fastest ever.
Sevan Matossian (17:13):
Bryson, how was Taylor to the buildup as the days got closer? Did you see any change in him? Could you feel him getting a little anxious?
Bryce (17:21):
He was definitely anxious. Just a lot of pacing and asking, changing his mind. I think we decided on step up burpees or jump up burpees seven different times and we’d be like, okay, yeah, I’m going to step up. And then 30 minutes later he’d be like, dude, I just don’t know. I don’t know. And then he’d be like, all right, let’s jump up. He’s like, all right, I’m going to jump up. That’s it, I’m done with it. And then he walked away and then 30 minutes later to come back for another conversation.
Sevan Matossian (17:47):
I was tripping on how anal he, so we would be talking to him and organizing it. We’re like, okay, we’re going to bring an extra cameraman. He’s like, I’m not going to be responsible for that extra person. Or I’d be like,
Taylor Self (17:57):
He knows about that fight, dude. I’m
Sevan Matossian (17:58):
Like, Jesus Christ, there’s going to be, I would text Will on the side. I’m like, what’s going on? He’s like, let’s not fuck with him. He’s tripping.
Bryce (18:05):
Yeah, I mean, I don’t know.
Sevan Matossian (18:06):
And then also one more thing, the start time, it’s going to be at five 15, he’s like on the dot. He’s like, no, no, five 15 we’re like
Taylor Self (18:16):
On the top motherfucker.
Sevan Matossian (18:17):
He started getting really precise and controlling and I was like, oh, he’s feeling it. It’s going down. Before
Bryce (18:26):
They went, Taylor, when me and Will were trying to figure out what was wrong with the audio last night, Taylor came up to me and he was like, Hey, let me know when we’re two minutes from going. And I was like, okay. And then I was like, damn, I really didn’t want that responsibility because it’s
Sevan Matossian (18:41):
Right.
Bryce (18:42):
Be like 90 seconds from going and then I’m going to have to go tell him and then he’s going to like, fuck dude. I thought it was going to be two minutes.
Taylor Self (18:47):
I had to get my lactate buffering. Correct. The thing about it is,
Sevan Matossian (18:52):
Hey, you know why? Because Taylor gives his wife a two minute window before he lets go. He’s like, listen, you got two minutes, you better start working up
Taylor Self (19:01):
20 at least. Anyways, the reason why is a lot of camps, there’s someone to take care of all that stuff. And at our gym it’s 100% personal accountability. It’s always my job to set up my camera, set up my tape lines, set up where I’m going, set up the clock, tell everyone when it’s starting. So I feel like when I’m taken away from that and there’s all this other stuff going on and there’s still not anybody leading that, and not that somebody wouldn’t, but I don’t want to put that pressure on them any more than what I asked them to do. And if they fuck it up, then I’m so pissed at them. So I’d rather just do it all
Sevan Matossian (19:42):
Myself.
Taylor Self (19:43):
Yeah, I’d rather just do it myself and not be mad at anybody. So that’s why I get stressed out is I feel like I’ve, I don’t know, it’s probably a defect I would say.
Sevan Matossian (19:52):
I was also thinking this was it a lot of stress on you too because it is your home gym and you’re coach there so you’re like, fuck, there’s other things you’re thinking about. Are those clients happy? Did you make sure we clean the bathroom before we leave tonight? Who’s going to do? Were you ever able to let go and just be like, I’m here to compete or no, not,
Taylor Self (20:09):
Yeah, I’m able to at some point, but leading what was tough yesterday, our heat started at 4:00 PM and I’ve got four hours to go. So I’m trying to just lay down at the gym and not have this anxious energy just sat me. And meanwhile people are doing the open. I’m like, damn, I should be judging people. I should be cheering ’em on. A little bit of that also the responsibility of feeling like it is Andy’s gym, but I’m a big part of it and I always try to be a really big part of new people who come in and I want the first impression to be amazing. So that’s the responsibility I feel more than anything is I want everybody watching to see the gym and be like, wow, that’s an awesome place. Anybody who came in and there were a good handful of people who I’d never seen before there that were not members of the gym, which was cool, but I want to have a good first impression. So I feel stuff like that.
Sevan Matossian (21:10):
Geez, Louise LAN’s needing, I beat seven age 53. Thank you. I appreciate it.
Taylor Self (21:18):
How about John Young? 41 seconds off of my time, his prediction. You think he’s going to hang up the hat on his expert analysis game?
Matthew Souza (21:28):
He did. He did. He retired. You didn’t see his post on his Instagram.
Taylor Self (21:31):
Retired,
Matthew Souza (21:32):
Hey, of embarrassment.
Sevan Matossian (21:34):
How about Don fall getting a 10 0 3 dude?
Taylor Self (21:36):
Yeah, I made fun of John a bit for that. I think. I don’t blame him. It’s hard to know what I’m capable of because I’m a nobody
Sevan Matossian (21:48):
Sporty. Beth beats Avon. My God.
Taylor Self (21:50):
No, she didn’t. Sporty. Beth’s getting capped.
Sevan Matossian (21:56):
Alright, so next week. Jason Hopper. Bryson, are you Taylor’s right hand man? Right hand brain?
Bryce (22:05):
I don’t know which chain he used to jerk off
Sevan Matossian (22:08):
For the next two weeks. Bryson, what do you think? Will he go just as hard? Do you think Taylor scarred all from that?
Bryce (22:17):
No, I would say the most impressive thing about Taylor, I’ve said this before, since being here and training every day with him, obviously his fitness level is impressive, but the thing that is crazy is every piece is a hundred percent capacity. There’s a difference between a hundred percent effort on a bad day, you’re still putting in a hundred percent effort. That just might be a lower level. Maybe it’s less weight, lower score, slower time, whatever. But it’s like it doesn’t matter if he’s having a bad day, he’ll find a way to get a hundred percent capacity out of it and then maybe pay the price after last night when he was throwing up for 20 minutes.
Sevan Matossian (22:56):
But
Bryce (22:56):
It’s like that’s what, and it’s annoying too because I’ll come in feeling like shit and then I know I hit 70% and it feels like a one or a max and I’m like, ah, come on bro. And then he’s just over there hitting prs after he was just telling me about how he slept three hours,
Sevan Matossian (23:14):
Stuff like that. So he makes it happen. Is he going to put it to Hopper next
Bryce (23:20):
Friday? A hundred percent.
Sevan Matossian (23:22):
Yeah.
Matthew Souza (23:23):
That’s going to be a fun one. The shit talk is going to be epic.
Sevan Matossian (23:26):
Alright. Hey guys, thank you so much for coming on Taylor. Thanks. You absolutely showed up. Thanks. Sentinel training obviously is working. Bryson, thank you. You guys
Bryce (23:35):
Actually absolutely showed up. Thanks Matt. Thanks guys.
Taylor Self (23:37):
Thanks guys. Guys have a good one. Take
Matthew Souza (23:39):
Easy.
Sevan Matossian (23:40):
Taylor Self Sentinel training. Bryson Mont training partner. Crazy. That was nice of them to come on.
Matthew Souza (23:47):
Yeah, that was man, he was hurting. How come these ones aren’t working? Oh, there it goes. He was hurting last night. I was rewatching it on the big screen. I had it playing and stuff at the gym and I was peeking in on it, but I was watching it last night on TV when I got home. That was crazy. He just sit there in such pain and you’re asking him great questions, but I was like, this dude can’t answer any of these question torched right now. Torched. He was just like
Sevan Matossian (24:13):
Torched.
Matthew Souza (24:14):
We all know that feeling. We all know that feeling.
Sevan Matossian (24:17):
Barry Cock Orson, what’s up with this cough? Everyone in my town was sick last month and I thought I had dodged it. All my kids, everyone I know, everyone was hurting almost like it was like a combination between, not like flu sick, but like a combination between a cold and allergies. Everyone’s eyes were fucked up and then last week just hit me. It didn’t go to my lungs at all, but my nose is just not working. Just closed nose. The nose is closed.
Matthew Souza (24:47):
It’s all that cloud seating they’re doing over there.
Sevan Matossian (24:49):
Maybe holy, I can’t believe how much it’s raining. Okay,
(24:53):
I’m going to play this video again, but I want to say something and maybe we’ll see what Susan thinks. I’m perfectly okay with Double Standard. There’s nuances to how you talk about women and how you talk about men. I’m perfectly perfectly okay with Double Standard. There’s ways that I talk to maybe parents treat their sons and daughters different. There’s ways I talk to my male friends different than I talked to my girlfriends. I told you guys about how I was on this text thread. Travis Bet sent me a text, something about his son, I can’t remember what, and I said, yeah, he’s killing it, dude, just make sure he don’t drop a load in anyone and get him pregnant or something like that about ice. And then I saw Katie Henneger was on the thread.
Matthew Souza (25:45):
Oh no,
Sevan Matossian (25:46):
I’d have never said that with a girl on the thread.
Matthew Souza (25:49):
Must have un sent.
Sevan Matossian (25:50):
Yeah, not, oh shit, I should have done that. That would’ve been great.
Matthew Souza (25:54):
And then, or just edited it and changed it. Make sure he doesn’t get some nice young lady too involved with some nice young, yeah,
Sevan Matossian (26:00):
And it’s just different. So I’m okay with that. I’m okay with that. But also along those lines, there’s nuances of like, hey, if you’re a professional athlete, I mean if we saw Fat Formula One driver, we would talk about it. But also there’s no athlete at that level. Every athlete needs to know, and whether they do or not, I know they’re just people. No one’s calling any of them fat. They’re just different. They’re different sizes. They have their thicker season in their thicker season.
Matthew Souza (26:39):
It’s the race car,
Sevan Matossian (26:41):
Right? It is race car. You’re right. So let me play this for you here real quick. And it’s not a big deal, but it’s just fun. It’s not a big deal at all. But I enjoy it. It’s fun. And it’s weird that some people fall off the edge on this. It’s not even walking a fine line. It’s a broad landscape and no one should be getting their feelings hurt. Okay, here we go. I feel
Beth (27:03):
So sorry for this guy. It’s never okay to comment on someone’s
Sevan Matossian (27:06):
Body. Not true at all. Always okay to comment on someone’s body.
Matthew Souza (27:10):
Never okay to comment on someone’s body.
Sevan Matossian (27:13):
It’s always okay. That’s just why would you have a rule like that in your life? But there’s nuances. There’s nuances and there’s double standards and I’m okay with that. But it’s perfectly okay to look at Bukowski’s body right here and type in the chat, whatever you want to say about it. My God, he looks, yeah,
Matthew Souza (27:36):
Perfectly
Sevan Matossian (27:36):
Fine. There’s nothing even a tiny bit wrong with it. Holy crap. Her tits are huge. You whisper to your friend as a girl walks by.
Matthew Souza (27:45):
It’s I would never do that because personally it’s never okay to comment on a women’s body. It’s
Sevan Matossian (27:50):
Perfectly, yeah, okay. Oh my God, I can’t believe how broad his shoulders are.
Matthew Souza (27:55):
Oh my God. I just don’t look at anything. Or
Sevan Matossian (27:57):
It’s crazy that Adrian Bosman weighs 1 65 because he looks like he weighs 180. It’s crazy.
Matthew Souza (28:04):
Yeah. My dad thought he was a CrossFit games athlete.
Sevan Matossian (28:06):
Yeah, he’s so fucking wide this way, but narrow this way. He looks like a fighter. Okay, here we go.
Speaker 3 (28:11):
How about Jeff Adler? He looks a little thicker than we’ve seen.
Speaker 5 (28:16):
We saw him yesterday. That was the first thing I noticed. And we talked to his coach and partner Carolyn, and we asked him is he bigger? And she said, yeah, he’s a little chunky. So I wouldn’t call that chunky. That
Speaker 3 (28:26):
Guy is a no. If that’s chunky, I’m trouble Genetic Beast,
Speaker 6 (28:30):
But I’ll take an
Sevan Matossian (28:31):
Example. So that’s fine. I’m perfectly okay with that. It’s just funny to point it out because that’s coming from the woke crowd and they have all these rules, but do you have any issues with what they said?
Matthew Souza (28:44):
None whatsoever.
Sevan Matossian (28:45):
Yeah, me neither. Yeah, and as a viewer, I actually appreciate it. Okay, so I’m starting to think, okay, he’s coming into the open, maybe he’s five pounds heavier because he’s been working on strength and then he’s going to lose that last five and get to almost emaciated status before the games, right?
Matthew Souza (29:01):
Yeah. And I mean, there’s still just incredible specimens of humans if they get a little thicker, if they get a little, like you said, it’s just,
Sevan Matossian (29:09):
Yeah, and Dan Grow. I wasn’t one of these guys, but yes, most guys like to be called big. Yes, I agree. I think most guys I know do have liked that they want to be seen as big. Yeah. Okay, so here we go. And then this is the great Danny Spiegel. Here we go,
Speaker 6 (29:27):
Of the person that we’re talking about in his recent podcast decided that it was appropriate
Sevan Matossian (29:34):
To, first of all, completely inappropriate not to say who you’re talking about. Just say
Matthew Souza (29:39):
It’s coward as shit. I fucking hate that. It drives me nuts. I haven’t really commented on it before, but fuck. I hate that shit. It’s worse than coward. It’s just like weird passive dresses, shit. It’s whole now. It’s weren’t too good to even say the name. No, you guys look like fricking idiots. And now you’ve fallen so far behind, we’re casting such a huge shadow on you that you’re almost irrelevant. So if I were you, I would spice it up and I would start saying.
