Sevan Matossian (00:00):
Oh yeah. Where is John Ring? Bam. We’re live. I thought we were going to open the show with Tyler talking about the Heat One app.
Matthew Souza (00:05):
I thought we were too. Well, we got,
Sevan Matossian (00:09):
I want to remind me to show you guys something when Tyler’s off the show later and we’re off the show. We got a surprise for Tyler, for Guap Palooza.
Matthew Souza (00:17):
Is it a We don’t. Do we want to show that now?
Sevan Matossian (00:19):
No. Do we?
Matthew Souza (00:21):
I thought it was
Sevan Matossian (00:22):
We save it.
Matthew Souza (00:24):
Oh, okay. I thought it was to hype that.
Sevan Matossian (00:26):
It’s to hype it.
Matthew Souza (00:28):
Did you watch it?
Sevan Matossian (00:29):
I did. It’s so good. It’s
Matthew Souza (00:31):
Good, huh? Yeah,
Sevan Matossian (00:32):
It’s fucking crazy. Good Ask Will.
Matthew Souza (00:34):
Okay. Will might even be new
Sevan Matossian (00:36):
Sheriff in town. Will Branstetter
Matthew Souza (00:38):
Will brand. CEO Will Branstad.
Sevan Matossian (00:41):
Andrew Hiller is here from Hiller Fit. He will be weighing in on why? It’s just me and Danny. Danny Spiegel living in his head and he’s not inviting in any other hot chicks for me to hang out with. Fucking kind of getting bored of each other in here. Hiller Andrew Hiller will be weighing in today on such topics. Is it good for Rich Froning to row for 24 hours, 5,000 meters an hour for 24 hours? Bill Grundler is here. CrossFit Inferno the oldest guy on the show
Matthew Souza (01:13):
By far. Yeah,
Andrew Hiller (01:16):
By far.
Sevan Matossian (01:18):
Four. Co-owner with Get With the programming. That’s the podcast where they talk about programming and we stole their idea and put in a JR. Howell and Fucks that other guy’s name. The s mt P, the formerly
Matthew Souza (01:33):
SSP guy died formerly known. As
Sevan Matossian (01:36):
Known as what happened to his business. Bill. Did that dude settle on a name? Taylor?
Matthew Souza (01:41):
Yeah. What do we got? What is it? Sentinel Rock Hard programming. Yeah. Oh,
Sevan Matossian (01:47):
Is it rock hard programming?
Matthew Souza (01:48):
Should be right. Dude,
Andrew Hiller (01:50):
That would be way cooler.
Sevan Matossian (01:53):
It’s not too late.
Matthew Souza (01:55):
That would be very Puy esque, right? Maybe
Andrew Hiller (01:57):
Rock
Matthew Souza (01:57):
Solid. Ooh, rock solid. Okay. Solid.
Sevan Matossian (02:02):
Grennan will be weighing in on such topics as why is Roman Koff getting a pass and when he was just in South Korea, isn’t that where he has to supposed to do a semifinal but he’s doing it in the US again?
Andrew Hiller (02:15):
Ooh, spin wrote an article on that.
Matthew Souza (02:16):
He did. How is that? I didn’t read it yet.
Andrew Hiller (02:19):
Spins articles are all good to the point. No fluff
Sevan Matossian (02:22):
And we tried to invite a spin on the only person who can read, but what was it? It’s a happy anniversary spin. He says it’s a 17th year anniversary. You think he’ll be married for 17 years? John, nice of you to show up, buddy. Now you take the show seriously. He’s a senior analyst, just big dicking everyone coming in a drone free time,
Matthew Souza (02:42):
Eating a waffle.
Sevan Matossian (02:44):
I appreciate you not eating on my show, taking this one more seriously.
John Young (02:47):
Yes sir. I apologize. Young Jay sometimes takes over and it makes me a little couple minutes late.
Sevan Matossian (02:57):
Hey, and John Young will be talking about whether you can have a classic hot chick body and win the CrossFit games or if you have to have some weird abnormalities, that will be his.
Bill Grundler (03:09):
Wow.
Andrew Hiller (03:10):
What were the abnormalities this year in the years previous?
Sevan Matossian (03:14):
I dunno. Giant ass, big thighs, whatever. Neck. Twice as thick as someone else. I don’t know. For a genetic freak,
Andrew Hiller (03:25):
Isn’t it? What’s the classic hot chick
Sevan Matossian (03:28):
Body? Well, Bella Martin said that chick’s name today. The Asian Chick
Andrew Hiller (03:34):
Low’s. I
Sevan Matossian (03:35):
Don’t even know what it is anymore. Here’s the thing. Stal. Yeah. Here’s the thing. My shit’s all been so fucking turned tops and turvy and turned upside down. I don’t even know. There isn’t one anymore for us I don’t think. As men in the CrossFit space, we have completely lost our way. We are no longer able to stereotype or generalize with women’s bodies.
Andrew Hiller (03:54):
What do you mean?
Bill Grundler (03:55):
Yeah, whatcha talking about?
Sevan Matossian (03:57):
I feel like there’s a variety of women. All we give a shit about is that they exercise and perform con functional movement, executed at high intensity, don’t eat a bunch shit food and then we’re happy with however their DNA is expressed in their body. We don’t care. We don’t care if they have big thigh, small thighs, giant cannonball shoulders. We don’t give a fuck. We just want someone who’s healthy.
Bill Grundler (04:21):
I think you’re saying it. You are in your normal crude way of course, but I think what cross,
Sevan Matossian (04:28):
I apologize for that by the way. Sorry.
Bill Grundler (04:29):
No, you don’t have to. That’s all right. Classic. Apologize
Andrew Hiller (04:32):
For being here,
Sevan Matossian (04:33):
Right? I hate myself.
Bill Grundler (04:36):
What CrossFit’s done is that I hate
Sevan Matossian (04:37):
My new haircut.
Bill Grundler (04:38):
Yeah, I love that new haircut. You look like a young man now. A young, did
Andrew Hiller (04:42):
You ever see that video?
Sevan Matossian (04:44):
Which one? I’m letting Bill. Go ahead. Bill. We were going to leave you finish Bill.
Bill Grundler (04:47):
It’s all good. I was going to say that what CrossFit is done with the way the workout is, the way the training is, the way the eating style is changing things up all the time, not letting your body settle into a particular sort of routine is it makes whatever your body type look like look attractive. So we see short stout looking hot. We see tall and thin looking hot. We see swimmer body wide shoulders looking great. We see big thighs and it looks great and I think that the confidence and these women, they stand up tall, they look beautiful, and that’s what CrossFit I think does. And I have two daughters. I love the fact of a strong, confident female and I think that CrossFit does that, so I think that’s what you’re talking about. It’s not that we don’t care. I don’t think that any man wants to see an unattractive female.
Sevan Matossian (05:38):
I would say for me personally, I thought we just said the same thing. I don’t care if a chick has a thick, I’m not. No, we yeah, we
Bill Grundler (05:44):
Did. We did. Not that we don’t care. It’s not that I just care if you work out and you eat right. It’s that CrossFit. The women that are in our space and the things that do, whether it’s our affiliate members or the athletes or whatever the methodology makes these women and the guys too, it makes us look great. So I’ll take it.
Sevan Matossian (06:08):
I’ll take it. Hillary, I did 30 clusters for time today.
Andrew Hiller (06:10):
I want to know Corbin’s time.
Bill Grundler (06:13):
How was that PVC pipe?
Andrew Hiller (06:18):
I want have on to do that one again. Apparently we used to do it all the time.
Sevan Matossian (06:22):
I almost did it today with 65 pounds, but I did the workout that I was supposed to do with Jeffrey Birchfield, another Andrew Hiller classic. I did as many air squats as I could in 10 minutes, 2 75.
Andrew Hiller (06:31):
That’s a Haley Matossian workout. Now she’s done it the most.
Sevan Matossian (06:35):
She’s taking over. Hey, have all of you guys seen Hiller’s video where he did a 1 55 squat? Clean grace loved it. Have you seen it work? By the way? Don’t look John, if you have.
John Young (06:49):
Unfortunately I have.
Andrew Hiller (06:51):
Oh damn. John’s supposed to do it again because I’ve smoked his ass now.
John Young (06:54):
Have you seen it? So listen, I did this workout. Look,
Sevan Matossian (06:58):
I have a question for you. Don’t look. Go ahead, John.
John Young (06:59):
I did this workout and I had a faster time than Hiller and then he did it again and now his time is faster.
Sevan Matossian (07:05):
Okay, hold on. Don’t say anything. I want to ask Susa something. Do you think that Hiller Susa beat Jason Khalifa’s time in 2008? Yes. Damn.
John Young (07:17):
Do you know what Jason Khalifa’s time is
Sevan Matossian (07:19):
With confidence?
Matthew Souza (07:20):
No, but I know it was in 2008 and the Tide has risen so much since then that it doesn’t matter.
John Young (07:25):
Dude, you would be shocked if he
Sevan Matossian (07:26):
Did amazing. You would be blown
Bill Grundler (07:28):
Away. It’s freaking
John Young (07:29):
Alone, so I won’t say Hiller’s time, but his first time was 3 0 2 and my time was 2 53 and Khalifa’s time was faster than that.
Sevan Matossian (07:43):
Really? No. Shit. I didn’t know that after. Yeah,
Andrew Hiller (07:48):
I texted Jason.
Sevan Matossian (07:50):
I think you’re still right. SU’s, right, right. Because Hiller smashed right the second time. Yeah. Did you
Matthew Souza (07:54):
Still beat him, Hiller?
Andrew Hiller (07:56):
Yeah, I beat him
John Young (07:57):
By five seconds. Five seconds
Andrew Hiller (07:59):
From
Sevan Matossian (08:00):
2008 before what he says. Let’s ask Tyler. Tyler, do you think that, did you see Hiller’s video today where he did Squat Grace with 1 55? Oh, you did? Yeah. Okay. 2 41. Susa, were you going
Andrew Hiller (08:15):
To ask? You said he would do it.
Tyler Watkins (08:17):
You were going to ask if I think he could beat Kpa.
Sevan Matossian (08:20):
Yeah,
Tyler Watkins (08:21):
I thought going into it he could for sure.
Sevan Matossian (08:25):
Dude, 2 41 is nuts. Yeah,
John Young (08:27):
I think you all need to do the workout first and then judge it because it’s,
Sevan Matossian (08:34):
I used to do it in 15 minutes all the time. Twice a month. I would do two on the minute. Two on the minute.
Matthew Souza (08:41):
Wasn’t there an open workout like that? Wasn’t it like an am wrap of
John Young (08:44):
Yeah, five minute am wraps at 1 65, squat, clean and jerk. What
Matthew Souza (08:48):
Was the best score
Sevan Matossian (08:49):
On that?
John Young (08:50):
I think Rich was 51 reps and I think that, I don’t know if that’s the best score, but I think if it wasn’t, it was top three in the
Sevan Matossian (08:59):
World.
Matthew Souza (08:59):
Damn. Oh, jr. Howell knows 11.3. Of course. Of course. It’s just
Sevan Matossian (09:03):
Like favorite
Bill Grundler (09:03):
Workout. Yeah, JR liked it. We’ve talked about that one before. Yeah, that one is so good. So good.
Sevan Matossian (09:09):
Oh shit. Here we go. Wow, I think you can beat your 2008 final games time right now. Probably not. Damn. What
Bill Grundler (09:18):
Was great when he did it back then is it was just grab classic Jason. There was no thought about it. What was great is in your video sev, Dave’s like, yeah, this is only for the finalists. You I,
Sevan Matossian (09:35):
Oh yeah. He
Bill Grundler (09:35):
Was so far behind and they set him on that timeframe, how they started, everyone at that stagger and then he just mauled everybody. No
Sevan Matossian (09:45):
Contact.
Bill Grundler (09:46):
So one just
Sevan Matossian (09:47):
Picked it up and dropped. Just
Bill Grundler (09:48):
Picked it up. It was so, it was so dumb strong. It was awesome. It was awesome.
Sevan Matossian (09:55):
What did you think you guys after? I don’t know how easy Susan can find it, but after Hiller’s done with the workout, 20 minutes later he’s breathing really, really fucking hard and I’ve done some horrible shit, but I can’t remember breathing that hard after 20 minutes. I mean it literally, that was nuts. Did you see how hard he was breathing you guys? Did you think that was normal? I was concerned about it, yeah. No,
Bill Grundler (10:19):
Totally. Did you see the last 10 reps? I was impressive that you, there’s always a point when you get around, especially when you look going at that number, anything like that, whether it’s the squat, clean thrusters or the clusters or the clean jerk setup. That last 10 reps, that last part where you’re getting into it and you want to stop to take a breath for a second and you didn’t and I’m like, damn. He’s just grabbing and going and so if you’re going to put yourself in the hole that deep, yeah, those last 10 reps are going to put 20 minutes of pain on you afterwards. For sure.
Sevan Matossian (10:51):
Hey, why did you go in the sauna?
Andrew Hiller (10:55):
It’s colder here and it was hurting the cold air was
Sevan Matossian (11:05):
What’s that bump on you though?
Andrew Hiller (11:07):
Which one? Ouch. Oh, that’s a trap. Yeah, those things are getting big.
Matthew Souza (11:14):
That’s a trap of sour.
Andrew Hiller (11:16):
Ouch. And then from doing ring dips
Sevan Matossian (11:22):
4 99 to get John a decent ring light, he’s on it.
Andrew Hiller (11:26):
What do you mean? I think my lighting looks good right now.
Sevan Matossian (11:28):
Me too. It ain’t bad. Hey, no, no. Let’s just take the four bucks and be cool. Five bucks will Branstetter. What’s the deal with the surprise for Tyler?
Matthew Souza (11:39):
You were correct. I went back and read the text.
Sevan Matossian (11:41):
Oh, okay. Okay. You were right. He doesn’t get it for a few more days.
Matthew Souza (11:46):
Mm. All right. Pay attention to your mailbox.
Sevan Matossian (11:48):
I don’t
Matthew Souza (11:48):
Get what? Yeah, exactly. Pay attention to your mailbox.
John Young (11:54):
There’s a workout. I’d like you to try Hiller if you’re up for it.
Matthew Souza (11:57):
Is
Andrew Hiller (11:57):
It squat snatches?
Matthew Souza (11:58):
No, no. Said this.
Sevan Matossian (12:02):
Did we want to bust you out? Okay, hold on. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Then we’ll give it a little run here in a minute. We’ll give it a run and then we won’t play it again until Waterloo. Go ahead. Finish the conversation. Go ahead.
John Young (12:13):
So microphone just dropped. I got it. Now I got to hold it. So
Matthew Souza (12:18):
Wait, what the fuck? Do you have a headset on with the mic? But you hold the mic?
John Young (12:22):
No,
Sevan Matossian (12:22):
No stereo.
John Young (12:24):
Now this I don’t use. It’s just the headphones that I have use. I’m using this
Matthew Souza (12:28):
Micro. You could unconnect that, right? You can unconnect that.
John Young (12:31):
Can you? You just unscrew it?
Matthew Souza (12:33):
Yeah.
Sevan Matossian (12:33):
You just Not now. Not now.
Matthew Souza (12:39):
Come
John Young (12:40):
On. Alright, you ready for this? Ready for this Hiller? No, I’ll text it to you later if you want it. 15 berry box jumps. 20 thrusters with 1 15 12 box jump box jump overs. 15 thrusters with 1 35, 10 bur box jump overs. 10 thrusters with 1 55. Eight bur box jump overs. Five thrusters with 180 5. 15 minute am wrap in the remaining time after you get done with that max ring Muscle ups Max, your score is ring muscle ups.
Andrew Hiller (13:09):
Did you get 30?
Sevan Matossian (13:11):
We just
John Young (13:11):
Lost 30. I have 31. That’s an amazing guess. I got 31
Andrew Hiller (13:15):
Autism.
John Young (13:19):
I was really, really pleased with my score, but I feel like your ring muscle up prowess, you’ll just, you’ll die. I think you would enjoy it.
Sevan Matossian (13:25):
How much time did you have left?
John Young (13:27):
I had about four and a half minutes.
Sevan Matossian (13:31):
Jeff Bako $5 to get grundler out of his double wide. I like my tiny home. Don’t worry about it, bro.
John Young (13:38):
I mean you could push that first part and have five plus but you’re trying to save some for the, I took a big break before the 180 5 thrusters just so I could go right into the muscle ups and I just try to hit four every 30 seconds.
Andrew Hiller (13:50):
Ken Walters. There is no time remaining.
Sevan Matossian (13:53):
Guys, real quick, I’d like to show you something, but first I’d like to introduce you to someone and then we’ll go straight into this video. You ready su?
Matthew Souza (14:00):
I’m ready with it.
Sevan Matossian (14:02):
We have Mr. Tyler Watkins here from the Heat one App regular guest on the show. Heat one is having, its sort of its fifth coming out party. It’s going to be a big one here at Waap Palooza and we’d like to introduce you to the Heat one App Heat, one app Heat, one Heat, one App Heat. Sound it out.
John Young (14:23):
Hey, you didn’t do a very good job saying you’re sponsor the other day, so give him a break.
Matthew Souza (14:27):
Action. Easy, easy. Action, Jay.
Sevan Matossian (14:31):
Action. Yes. Action. Action.
Speaker 7 (14:34):
Oh, give me a break. Come on. How can you not pick Brent Kowski to win this event? Are you kidding me? Don’t you remember 2021? Oh, what do you mean? I’ve literally this. I picked him to win. He did not pick Brent ows. You kidding me? You literally said Pat Downer. What do we need to watch the receipt back? You kidding? Are you kidding? Dude, you’re an idiot. You hear yourself talking right now, dude. Oh my. These commentators are idiots too. Gosh, I know more about Cross within all these. You not even paid stairs the last five years. You don’t want to lose you. Look, cry baby God.
Speaker 8 (15:12):
Is this you or someone you love? Download the Heat One app on the app store, Google Play Store, or by scanning the QR code on the screen. Heat one is going to the big leagues for 2024 Tier Waap Palooza. Pick your top 10 men, women and teams and play in a shot collar league where you can pick the winners for each event. Create a league with your friends, your gym, and also play in the Worldwide League where you have a chance to win $14,000 in prizes. Play now for free by scanning the code on the screen
Sevan Matossian (15:50):
And get to scan it in time. Come on.
Tyler Watkins (15:55):
That’s awesome. That is so good. So good. Will Branstetter
Sevan Matossian (15:59):
Is a stud for putting that together. We will get a QR code that will be on the entire show and we’ll hold it in the upper right or left hand corner corner that will take you to maybe we’ll do one for. Does anyone use Google phone? Maybe we’ll do one for Android and one for no.
Tyler Watkins (16:15):
We have one that does both.
Sevan Matossian (16:17):
Okay, cool. So we’ll have one QR code. It’ll take you to where you’re supposed to go and you’ll be able to download that. Tell us about the app. Why do one people want to do it? Tyler, why do people want to play Heat One during water?
Tyler Watkins (16:27):
At first I thought Will was going to stop after you win $14,000. I thought he was going to stop there. I was like, no, no, no, no, no, no.
(16:37):
You can win prizes. Of course, we’re going to be giving away $2,000. Pliability is going to give away a bunch of prizes and then you’re going to win VIP tickets to next year’s Water Palooza in Miami. So that’s why you play. It’s super easy. You pick your top 10, everybody thinks they know the best Top 10 at the very least, you’ll be able to beat John Young and then you can pick the athletes that you think are going to win each event. Both of those are going to be able to do prizes. We’re going to do individuals and teams and that’s why you should play.
Sevan Matossian (17:07):
So the easiest version for someone like me is I go there, I download the app, I pick the top 10 guys and top 10 women and it’s easy. You just slide ’em around. It’s a really easy interface and then I enter and I just need to submit my email. Do I have to pay any money?
Tyler Watkins (17:22):
Nope. No money. You just go to the app store, sign up and you’re good to go.
Sevan Matossian (17:26):
Fantastic. Chrissy. Will is putting in overtime. Oh and Kate Foster wants to know how much you paid Will for that is will getting a cut of every donation made or the money given to Heat one up? What’s the percentage split? How much are you giving me? Tyler Dean Foster wants to know financials.
Tyler Watkins (17:45):
Will’s paid. He’s paid in thank yous and probably a stake something later. Hard
Sevan Matossian (17:50):
Cockies
Andrew Hiller (17:51):
Actually gave him a Sandy. Yeah, Casper the Friendly Ghost hired him.
Sevan Matossian (17:58):
Stand the Friendly Ghost Wad. Zombie dollar 99. You can get a Heat One shirt. Oh you can get a heat one shirt on ate.com VN DK eight.com.
Tyler Watkins (18:10):
I’m excited about those. We’re going to get some, there’s a regular shirt, like a regular T-shirt feel, and then a Comfort Colors shirt. I really am stoked about the comfort colors one. And then we’ll also be giving away T-shirts at Water Palooza. They’re waters only. You’ll never see ’em again.
Andrew Hiller (18:29):
We’ll also
Tyler Watkins (18:30):
Be giving away Stevon Beanies.
Sevan Matossian (18:32):
No, no, we’re giving them away for $25.
Andrew Hiller (18:37):
Yep.
Sevan Matossian (18:39):
Jonathan Ortega will also, this is just in for the Heat one app. Jonathan Ortega will be doing free nude photo shoots for two lucky winners. So if you win, we will send Jonathan over to an outhouse near you. You’ll disrobe and he’ll shoot you for free.
Tyler Watkins (18:57):
I cannot enforce that, but thank you. Will
Sevan Matossian (19:00):
I alrightyy since we’ve just completely,
Andrew Hiller (19:09):
Sorry, that was Will’s living room. There you go. That’s Will’s living room.
Sevan Matossian (19:16):
Ah, that’s scary.
Tyler Watkins (19:16):
Is that three pictures of Taylor? Jesus,
Sevan Matossian (19:19):
But is that, that looks like a room where you got a wipe shit down from bodily fluids and shit. What was that?
Tyler Watkins (19:24):
Oh damn.
Andrew Hiller (19:24):
That’s Dexter’s kill
Tyler Watkins (19:25):
Room. Jesus
Sevan Matossian (19:26):
Crime TV
Andrew Hiller (19:27):
Show.
Sevan Matossian (19:30):
I was looking on Danielle, I know you guys are way, way, way big time, but let’s start somewhere just completely not big time. I was looking at Daniel Brandon’s Instagram. I don’t know why. Just accidentally popped up.
Tyler Watkins (19:44):
Yeah.
Andrew Hiller (19:44):
Accident as always.
Sevan Matossian (19:45):
For what else popped up when you’re looking at it, his being saw her dog. I really liked the camo. I saw the dog. I saw the friend. I saw the friend and the dog. I saw the Wow. How are her feet doing that? Off the shoulder? She’s got one sock on. Is Danielle Brandon crying a lot? She’s here. Yeah, a lot In this picture or just a lot in general? No, just in general. Just in general. Is she crying a lot? I feel like a couple months ago she was trying to bring crying in. She made some video and she was crying and it was like, Hey, it’s okay to cry. And then here I’m just randomly going through her account and she’s crying again. I feel like this is the third crying video
Tyler Watkins (20:33):
In how long?
Sevan Matossian (20:34):
I don’t know. In two months than I post. It’s more than I post. That is a lot, right? I think most girls
Andrew Hiller (20:39):
Cry that much
Sevan Matossian (20:40):
In two months.
Tyler Watkins (20:41):
Type A folks cry a lot when people who win. Yeah. People who are obsessed with winning cry a lot. My son cries a lot.
John Young (20:51):
Raz.
Tyler Watkins (20:53):
I bet he cries. I bet he cries. Men cry also holds him. I know, but I just bet it’s
John Young (20:59):
Not a lot. That’s all I’m saying.
Sevan Matossian (21:02):
Do you remember the last time you cried Tyler?
Tyler Watkins (21:05):
Yeah.
Sevan Matossian (21:06):
When was that
Tyler Watkins (21:07):
Wedding? Oh.
Sevan Matossian (21:07):
Oh,
Tyler Watkins (21:09):
You must be a winner. Very nice. That was the easy one though. That was the easy
Sevan Matossian (21:13):
One. That was good. Your own wedding.
Tyler Watkins (21:15):
Yeah.
Matthew Souza (21:16):
I don’t have a button for that.
Sevan Matossian (21:18):
Susie, you remember the last time you cried?
Matthew Souza (21:23):
Yes. S
Sevan Matossian (21:25):
If it’s a death, don’t tell me.
Matthew Souza (21:27):
I won’t tell you.
Sevan Matossian (21:32):
About eight months ago I was at the beach and I left my kids one wheel there and I left and I just bought it. It was like 1400 bucks or something. And then I went back to get it and it was gone.
Tyler Watkins (21:45):
You cried.
Sevan Matossian (21:46):
Not there. I came
Tyler Watkins (21:47):
Home.
Sevan Matossian (21:47):
I came home and I told my wife I need a few minutes by myself and I just went into the bedroom and shut the door and laid on the bed and some water came out of my face. I don’t know if it constitu crying
Tyler Watkins (21:56):
That happened between the dog and now. Oh, two
Sevan Matossian (22:01):
Cries. Yeah. Well thank you. Well, thank you.
Tyler Watkins (22:04):
I think I cried for you that day. Jesus Christ.
Matthew Souza (22:07):
Grace got sad because we were at the point walking and we saw your posters.
Sevan Matossian (22:11):
Oh, with the missing one wheel
Matthew Souza (22:14):
And she was like, wait, that’s what you’re telling me about. And I was like, yeah. She’s like, oh no. It came real when she saw the poster on the side of the pole or whoever it was down there.
Tyler Watkins (22:23):
Yeah, you cry. Homeless people cruise around, lost a little skateboard. 14 skateboard.
Matthew Souza (22:29):
Fucking expensive hill. It’s
Tyler Watkins (22:30):
Fucking skateboard.
Sevan Matossian (22:31):
But I feel like I let my son down. So what do you think, Danielle? What do you think?
Tyler Watkins (22:37):
She cry. What
Sevan Matossian (22:37):
Do you think she’s crying about here? What do you think she’s crying about here?
Tyler Watkins (22:41):
She probably lost a skateboard.
Sevan Matossian (22:42):
We want to know
Matthew Souza (22:44):
The one wheel hill.
Sevan Matossian (22:45):
We want to know why she’s crying.
Matthew Souza (22:47):
I do, but I know. I know why.
Tyler Watkins (22:50):
Oh really? She accidentally poked herself in the eyes and she’s just showing you It’s
Matthew Souza (22:53):
A lot of life change. It’s a lot of life change. A lot of figuring out. I remember that age.
Sevan Matossian (22:59):
John, why do you think she’s crying? I know this is kind of your specialty.
Tyler Watkins (23:04):
You should call her on the phone right now and ask her.
John Young (23:08):
I do not know. Probably relationship stuff.
Tyler Watkins (23:11):
Yeah,
Sevan Matossian (23:12):
She’s at that age. If
John Young (23:13):
I had to guess, that’s what I would say.
Tyler Watkins (23:15):
Here’s the more important question. Why did she post it?
Sevan Matossian (23:19):
That’s interesting too.
Tyler Watkins (23:20):
This is just what’s going on her lap right now. So the people
Bill Grundler (23:23):
On this show would ask and sit there and why is she crying?
Tyler Watkins (23:28):
Why is crying
Bill Grundler (23:28):
Up? It’s just a hook. It’s a hook. It’s a hook to get people to ask why are you crying?
Sevan Matossian (23:36):
She’s crying because she heard you say women who didn’t finish higher at the 2023 games than the 2022 games should quit.
Tyler Watkins (23:45):
You did say that
Sevan Matossian (23:47):
I ever s sinned. That comment
Matthew Souza (23:48):
Posting The crying post reminds me of when somebody posts their hospital wristband and they’re like, I don’t want to talk about it. You’re like, why the fuck did you post that?
Sevan Matossian (23:57):
Right.
(24:00):
Okay, moving on to serious topic here. Roman Koff receives region exemption for 2024 game season. This is in the barbell spin on Instagram. It’s the barbell spin. It is the fastest news source. We all know that already in the CrossFit space. What’s going on? We just go over the rule book and you can live. You have to live somewhere three years in order to call it home for you. So why is he getting another exemption? We already know his regional that he’s supposed to go to or his semi-final he’s supposed to go to is in where? In South Korea. And we know that he can go back and forth there without going back through Russia. I think that was the first time why he got an exemption if he went to South Korea. He might have to go back through Russia before he comes to the United States to get some sort of stamp. And he doesn’t have to do that now. And so why would he get another exemption? He hasn’t been in the States for three years. Right? So does anyone know? Does anyone care?
Tyler Watkins (25:02):
Has anyone read Spin’s story?
Sevan Matossian (25:04):
No. Does he have a story? Story? Oh, for the full story?
Matthew Souza (25:08):
What about headlines here, Tyler, we’re about headlines. Okay,
Tyler Watkins (25:13):
Before we look into that, maybe there’s something else at home in Russia that he doesn’t feel good about going back home.
Matthew Souza (25:21):
Just got to call Rosa and figure it out.
Bill Grundler (25:23):
I tell you what though. Every time you do an exemption thing like this, especially when it’s one of the high-end athletes, it blurs the line of when it’s going to be fair or not. And it turns into like, are we doing it because it’s this guy? And what if it was someone else? Would they get that same? I understood why they gave it to him before. I don’t think he needs it now. And I think that with the rule book, they need to stay as hard and as fast as they can. Otherwise it just gets muddled. I think that was a mistake unless there was some other reason in there.
Sevan Matossian (25:54):
Roman Coffee, do you think
Tyler Watkins (25:55):
Tia gets exemption?
Bill Grundler (25:59):
Tia’s been here a long time.
Sevan Matossian (26:02):
She just bought a $7 million gym building in Nashville. I dunno if that counts for anything. Romanoff is the first athlete who has been confirmed to receive a region exemption for the 2024 CrossFit game season. He’s a citizen of Russia receiving an exemption to compete out of the North America East region again this year. The region exemption was confirmed by his coach Kudo.
Tyler Watkins (26:26):
Can you say that last name?
Sevan Matossian (26:29):
Oh no, no, I cannot. Just two weeks after the 2024 CrossFit Games rule book was published as outlined in section 1.08, proof of sustained residency political hardship restrictions from attending their expected semifinals due to immigration or visa status. In looking at Reni cough’s situation, however, it’s unclear which of the three bullet points applies to the current third fittest man on earth. Reko received a visa in February of 2022. This visa allowed him to enter the United States and travel for any competition in the country for the next five years. Something he had been unable to do since the first time he qualified for the CrossFit games in 2018. Somewhere in here maybe it says, okay, so now fast forward to today. The reason for credit cough’s exemption is unclear Credit cough has only lived in the United States since February of 2022. One year short of the three-year requirement. So we don’t know. Yeah. Does anyone know? I’m not looking at the comments. Has anyone said anything in the comments?
John Young (27:37):
The fact that he was in South Korea for a two day workshop and then came right back is a really bad look for him to get this exemption because it’s not holding him back. He can go to South Korea and come back. He’s shown that he could already
Sevan Matossian (27:56):
In this article, bill.
John Young (27:59):
No, it doesn’t matter for him.
Sevan Matossian (28:00):
John, let me reiterate what you’re saying because it says here in the article from barbell spin, Koff has not lived in the United States for three years and traveling to South Korea where the Asia semifinal will be held is not an issue. So the article agrees with you. Go ahead.
Bill Grundler (28:16):
I was just going to say, I don’t think it’s, he has every right to go and try for an exemption. For
John Young (28:22):
Sure, for
Bill Grundler (28:22):
Sure. But it’s a big mess up for CrossFit to say, yeah, okay, you don’t have any issues. But sure, we’ll go ahead and give you an exemption because now why wouldn’t anyone else get an exemption
John Young (28:33):
If Tia and Ellie don’t get an exemption? Why did Roman get one and they didn’t? Because their situation is no different at all. I think you either give it to ’em all, but if you give them to ’em all, then what’s the point of having the rule? Why? So it’s whatever it means. Nothing. Roman’s going to be here. I think he should be forced to go to South Korea. Why? Because that’s the rule.
Matthew Souza (29:04):
Fuck the rules stupid. And it puts up so much barriers for the athletes in terms of time
John Young (29:08):
With you to grow, but then don’t have the rule, right. I’m with you. I’m
Matthew Souza (29:15):
With you. Yeah, the rule’s stupid.
John Young (29:17):
But if you’re not, you cannot enforce the rule on Tia and Ellie if you’re not going to enforce it on Roman is what I’m saying. There needs to be even across all fields, all people. It doesn’t matter how big you are, nobody’s bigger than Tia, but it doesn’t matter what your name is. I get it. Last year there was a freaking war going on.
Matthew Souza (29:39):
It’s still
Sevan Matossian (29:40):
Very John lives.
John Young (29:41):
I know he showed that he could go to South Korea though he did it. He already did it.
Sevan Matossian (29:48):
The concern was is that he was going to go to South Korea last year and not be able to come back unless he went back through Russia. Now we know he can go back and forth. I think we all, is there anyone who doesn’t thinks that the three years.
