#848 – Live Call In | Don’t Forget About Me

Sevan Matossian (00:17):

Good morning

(00:21):

In. It’s a little abrupt. I need to figure out a way to lower that in 15 minutes. Uh, we’ll be having Kyle on for a few minutes. So talk to us about an event called Wadden on the lock. Is that like the lock, like where like the Lochness monster lives? Uh, registration closes in 10, 11, 12 days, I think. Um, it’s an event he’s thrown there before, I believe. And anyway, I don’t have to make up any details. The guy’s gonna come on in, uh, 15 minutes and we will chat and hear about his, uh, event. He’s, I, lemme see. He’s all, he’s the owner, he’s the affiliate owner of, um, it’s, it’s Kyle Russell and he’s the affiliate owner, I believe, of Peak Fitness CrossFit in a place called, called North Air Shire. Hey, by the way, do you remember, I, we, when we, uh, on the show, uh, there was that post where we kind of cracked a code on, uh, the Lochness monster. It’s really just a giant penis, the penises of, um, some of these large whales or animals that are in the water. Um, they, they put their penises out of the water and they look just like the Lochness monster. Do you remember that? That was a pretty cool post.

(01:48):

So somebody, it’s funny how quickly things can turn. Somebody sent me a, uh, I don’t, I, I guess it was a dm, and they said, Hey, I’ve seen every second counts 10 times. Can I get one of your every second count shirts? And I’m like, sure, no problem. Uh, yeah, I’ll, I’ll send you a shirt. What size are you? And they said, I forget what they said large. I said, oh, perfect. That’s what I have. Large, or they’re medium, I can’t remember. So he sends me his address and I’m looking at it in my dms and I go, Hey, here’s my email address. Why don’t you send it to my email? Because then I, I won’t lose it, right? It’ll be just sitting there in my email and I can just grab a shirt and run over to UPS or FedEx and just be like, Hey, send this to this address, please. And in the email the guy sends me, it says, uh, hey, preferably you have a color besides black, because I don’t wear black. So in one sentence, took me probably two seconds to read that. It went from, oh yeah, I can’t wait to send you a shirt to fuck off. I hope you get hit by a train today.

(02:59):

Just like that. That’s how quickly I, I just, just, just, it’s, it, it’s over done. Uh, you watched our house last night. Holy shit. I’m sorry. Wow. Crazy. Yeah. Crazy town. Banana pants. I lived on that driveway. I dunno if there’s any shots in there of like a motor home on the driveway, but that’s the motor home. I, I basically, I went through three different motor homes while I lived there. Entitled, I’m entitled. I, well, I’m entitled for people just to be nice to me and not say dumb things to me. Listen, the Chevon effect friendly to hostile. Yeah. So quickly. First of all, the only shirt only comes in black. It only comes in one color. It only came in one color. I need to calm down about stuff like that. I, I snapped too easy. I, I could have flipped a script and like understood it a different way. I could have been like, oh, how cool. Now I don’t have to send this guy a shirt cuz it only comes in black. That’s nice. I’m glad he told me ahead of time. So the shirt doesn’t go, uh, to waste. Hmm.

(04:19):

Sorry, I need to close my text messages. The, uh, my text messages are over open on the screen and I keep getting distract dis distracted, distract distracted. Uh, for today’s show, you will need pencil and paper. Uh, pa pen is fine. You will need something to write with because, um, I’m gonna, uh, there’s gonna be a drawing lesson today, a quick drawing lesson at some point in the show. And I, and what I’m hoping for is, is that you guys can draw this picture. Um, it, it, it, you draw it in steps. Three simple steps. And then you guys can make a video of you guys, uh, you guys, you guys use guys, uh, you can make a video of use guys, uh, drawing the picture and then, uh, send me the video on my dms and then I could post them. That’s what I was kind of hoping for. I couldn’t believe how amazing this picture is. You draw it with like, basically making three circles. And I was just like, holy shit, this is amazing. What the fuck? You’re giving us homework kind of. I’m, uh, it’s more like I’m trying to use you to, uh, for, uh, cuz to help me make content for my ig um, uh, I’m not in the mood for Pfizer talk savvy. Okay, fine.

(05:32):

Um, but this is, this is a drawing lesson. And number two pencil would be fine. A pen, just like a a a sheet of paper. It would be great if you could get a sheet of paper and then a pencil, pencil, uh, or pen. It doesn’t have to be anything fancy. And then I’m gonna have you draw this. And what would be even more ideals is if you could film, I don’t know how you’re gonna do it with your iPhone, you drawing it. It’s very simple drawing. We’re now, uh, part of Chevon’s experience that, uh, experiments experi, you’re part of my experience and my experiments. Malcolm Morales, holy fucking shit. I’m on a live show. Uh, black Ink. Uh uh, yes, black Ink would be, is is is more than adequate. Uh, it, it may be even pre, uh, preferred. Yeah, you could hold the phone in your mouth if you can hold the phone in your mouth. I’d also like to see a video of that.

(06:28):

And, uh, Philip Kelly, uh, being smart, thinking ahead. Um, we require everyone use a different color pen for inclusivity. Well, it is actually a picture of a man you’re gonna be drawing. So if you, if black, um, oh, isn’t that funny? We only draw probably it’ll only be black people. That’s interesting. I never, I never thought how, wow. I never realized how racist, uh, drawing was. It only, it’s white paper, but you only draw black people. It’s like anti-white. Um, sev, we do have Kyle coming on in eight minutes. He’s gonna come on for a minute. I’m only letting him on for a minute.

(07:09):

Um, and then, uh, and then, um, I’m gonna kick him off. But, but I am curious about his event and I do like to support events. And if I could help him get even two people, uh, to register, that would be great. I’m gonna show you something that I’m pretty sure is gonna get the show dinged, but you guys have to see it. I don’t, I, I don’t know. I don’t know. Um, you guys have to see this. So here we go. This is gonna be about two minutes long. Don’t worry. This isn’t, uh, this isn’t any Pfizer talk. This is better. I dunno if you remember, there was a guy, juicy, juicy s mullet, excuse me. Oh, I’m gonna lower when I, when I sniffle. Now I’m gonna lower, I I thought about this this morning in the shower, instead of making you guys, uh, hear me do that gross sniffling sound, I’m gonna lower the volume and sniffle and then turn it back up.

(07:59):

There was a guy named Jesse Smk or something in Chicago. He was an actor on that show, the Empire. And, uh, and he, he, uh, black dude, uh, homosexual, uh, gay guy, black actor Chicago, staged a stunt where he had two dudes jump ’em and call him names. That, that, that made fun of the color of his skin and, uh, his preference of genitalia he liked in his mouth. And that while yelling Ma maga country or something. That was his shtick, right? So he, remember we talked about how to get attention. So he wanted to do the, uh, he was gonna do infamous and victim, right? Yeah. Juicy Burger. Juicy Mullet. Anyway, these dudes who were paid to fucking jump him, they, they were on TV recently and they told the story, it’s fucking ridiculous. We live with idiots. We live with fucking complete fucking morons. Um, I I, I hope no one takes offense to that. Uh, anyway, here we go. Uh, listen to these guys talk, uh, about it. Here we go. Take a look at this.

Speaker 2 (09:13):

So we got here with 10 minutes to spare and we had to plan our escape route to survey the land. His building is actually right here.

Sevan Matossian (09:22):

Uh, the title of this piece is The Anatomy of a Hoax. And so these are the two dudes who were paid to jump Juicy s mullet. And they’re like describing the scene

Speaker 2 (09:31):

Right above the stairs that we are going to attack him at. We made sure we got there at 2:00 AM sharp on the dot. On the dot. We had no phones because he

Sevan Matossian (09:41):

A, a beautiful, handsome yolked dudes too. Like these dudes are fucking studs.

Speaker 2 (09:47):

Did not want us to bring any phones

Sevan Matossian (09:50):

Except for that nose ring.

Speaker 2 (09:52):

He said. So we don’t lose ’em. I don’t know if that’s really the reason. That’s him. It’s the him. That’s that. [inaudible] [inaudible] get that [inaudible] Oh, he’s moving fast. Come on, let’s get him, get that [inaudible] get him.

Sevan Matossian (10:04):

So that was, those were the lines. Those were the lines that they said out loud as they, as they, uh, chased him just to, I guess to get in character, make it authentic. As we

Speaker 2 (10:15):

Crossed the street, we said, Hey, to get his attention. Hey Nick [inaudible] Hey, he turned around, looked at us, and that’s when we started yelling, uh, the famous slurs. He wanted us to yell, Hey, aren’t you that empire? [inaudible] [inaudible] Empire F [inaudible] [inaudible]

Sevan Matossian (10:34):

I like how they leave the foot in the nah. So just so you know, I wonder if the guy who beeps that out is just trying to be so accurate with the placement of that beat that we can get a little bit, just a little bit.

Speaker 2 (10:49):

Maga country,

Sevan Matossian (10:50):

MAGA Ko. Hey, it really is, uh, I’m, I’m starting to really understand, uh, the intersection of, uh, uh, American black culture and rednecks. Like, that guy just sounded like a redneck to me. Maga koon tree.

Speaker 2 (11:05):

And then he said, what did you say to me? And then that’s when I threw the first punch at him.

Sevan Matossian (11:10):

And then, can you imagine that guy, Jesse Small said that? What’d you say to me? Oh, right, did you say to me?

Speaker 2 (11:16):

And I threw him to the ground. And while after I threw him to the ground, I had, he had no bruise. I wanted it to look more real. So then I threw him to the ground. After I threw him to the ground, I used my knuckle and gave him a noogie.

Sevan Matossian (11:29):

God, wouldn’t it be great if George Floyd were alive and that they could tell us that was a hoax? Wouldn’t that be awesome? That that was just a stunt that, um, George Floyd and that dude pulled to get some millions <laugh>, that’d be so great.

Speaker 2 (11:44):

So I went like this. Why did I do that? To give him a scar. To give him a mark to make it look

Sevan Matossian (11:51):

Real. There it is. Look at that. An authentic fucking smooch on the face.

Speaker 2 (11:59):

Like he really did get his ass beat.

Speaker 3 (12:02):

All right, joining us now for that first live TV interview

Sevan Matossian (12:06):

And this, and here they are, man. And look, he’s, that guy’s wearing a MAGA hat, but instead of an a, it’s the picture of Africa. Make Africa get great again. That’s kind of cool. I think these dudes are, I think these dudes are born on, on that continent. The one that, uh, with all the countries between Egypt and South Africa smooshed in there. Oh, let me tell you, these guys are fucking happy as shit. This interview’s crazy. These guys are just fucking hot and sexy and positive and these, and just stoked to be there with Hannity. I’m telling you, these guys are cool as shit. It’s fucking ridiculous how cool they are. They’re just dudes, just young dudes who made a bad decision.

(12:50):

It happens. I want to, I want to hear all the juicy details. They, it looks like there’s a whole fucking full-blown documentary on these guys now where they tell the whole story. I wanna hear about how Juicy met ’em and the whole thing. It’s crazy. Hey, the, the first 12 million times I said bad words. I didn’t even know what they meant. I would just go in the bathroom with my friends in the second grade and we would say bad words. I see my kids doing that sometimes I wish they’d go in the bathroom and do it. They don’t even go in the bathroom. They’re just be in the backyard practicing bad words. They’re the ones like, they’ll do stuff like, they don’t even know what they’re doing. They don’t think I’m listening. And I’ll hear one of them call like, you bitch idiot dick. I’m like, what? Hey Uhuh. They’re like, sorry. I’m like, you don’t even know what I’m saying Uhuh about. They’re like, you don’t want us to swear? I’m like, no, I don’t want you to swear and sound like an idiot. You don’t put smush those three words together.

(13:50):

Crazy. They they’re still, they’re still working it out. You know what’s funny is I, I was, I was watching, I watched that Chris Rock and then I went back and watched another Chris Rock. I don’t know, maybe I’m getting old. He does, does comedy, does comedy get dated? Cause I went back and watched an older one and I didn’t like him. I didn’t like it so much. I didn’t, I I wasn’t, I I was, I didn’t get excited. Okay, I’m gonna try to, um, I’m gonna try to, uh, not show any Pfizer stuff to make, um, homegirl happy. What’s her name? Melody sema? No, I confuse her with sema. It’s the chick from the uae. What’s what’s that lady’s name? What the long the black hair.

(14:42):

She, you guys should take a note from her. She has like a good, uh, profile pick. She’s pretty, anyway, I forget, but I’m gonna try to, I’ll try. No, no. Oh, Melissa, thank you Eric. Melissa Odier. Her name is that Melissa, if you leave the show, if you’re touch, if you’re checking out, you let me know. Cause I gotta get some Pfizer talking. You know what, you know I got to. Okay, here we go. Look at this. This is great. Well look at this. And then I think, uh, Kyle from Lochness monster CrossFit is coming on. Um, this is, uh, when your son gets up, when your son gets upset in the division two wrestling semi-finals. This is, this is nuts. This is a special kind of mom right here. Look at this. This is her son. Um, this is her son. Maybe I should leave the audio. This is her son, uh, wrestling. Here, watch this. Oh, can you guys hear it? I can’t hear it. Oh wait, here we go.

Speaker 2 (15:42):

That’s unfortunate to see. But this is the, this is the, this is what happens here, Jim. There’s so much at stake here. Oh, the memories are just lifetime.

Speaker 4 (15:52):

Mom and her glasses did not survive that patch. Her

Sevan Matossian (15:56):

Son gets pinned And look at the mom. That’s unfortunate. She takes her look at,

Speaker 2 (15:59):

That’s unfortunate to see. But this is the, this is the holy,

Sevan Matossian (16:03):

This

Speaker 2 (16:03):

Is what smoke. This happens here. Jim, there’s so much at stake here. Holy memories. Lifetime. This

Sevan Matossian (16:09):

Is

Speaker 4 (16:09):

Crazy. And her glasses did not show survive

Sevan Matossian (16:11):

That I can see this Kyle, look how upset this lady is.

Speaker 2 (16:16):

That’s unfortunate to see. But this is the, this is the,

Sevan Matossian (16:19):

Can you see that Kyle?

Speaker 2 (16:21):

There’s so much at

Sevan Matossian (16:22):

Stake. My son lost the wrestling match. She takes her glasses off and just,

Speaker 4 (16:26):

And her glasses did not survive that patch.

Sevan Matossian (16:30):

Oh my goodness. And that’s unfortunate. Okay, this is getting outta Samantha. What are you doing?

Speaker 5 (16:38):

Oh, I’m sorry. I had to comment on the wrestling video.

Sevan Matossian (16:40):

Okay, fine. Fine. You’re a girl. I thought for sure you really quick. Yeah, please. No, take your time. Kyle’s, Kyle’s working on his tan. We’ll let Kyle work on his tan while you, uh, talk. Go ahead <laugh>.

Speaker 5 (16:51):

I I’m, I’m the same, I’m the same girl from yesterday that called too about the ice thing and anyways.

Sevan Matossian (16:59):

Oh, yes. Yes. Why? How come there’s no kids with they’ve they’ve cracked the code on, um, uh, down syndrome babies in Iceland? Yes.

Speaker 5 (17:06):

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay. So anyways, um, I’m from Iowa. This is a Iowa wrestling video. Okay? Yeah. This is, this is huge news in our state. But this, this young man that got pinned, yes. Uh, I think it was last weekend. He was set to be a four-time national champion and he was set to win this match. And the fact that he got reversed and pinned in the last couple of seconds, that match was like one of the biggest upsets in wrestling history. So, well,

Sevan Matossian (17:37):

Hey, how, how, you’re telling me this happened two days ago? This lady looks like she’s from 1942. What, what, what, what, what kind of look is that? Look at her sweater and her glasses and her hair. This is two days ago in Jesus Christ. Hey,

Speaker 5 (17:51):

Don’t be hating on the mama. She’s, she’s supporting her son. Her heart was broken. I can only imagine how I would feel if that was my child. Um, and you know what? How lovely to have a parent care that much, right? Okay,

Sevan Matossian (18:04):

Fine. A

Speaker 5 (18:05):

Dead parent out there that don’t care at all.

Sevan Matossian (18:07):

You’re absolutely right. How dare I, you’re, you know what? Serious. Thank you.

Kyle Russell (18:11):

<laugh>. My son, she’s, she has alaw.

Sevan Matossian (18:16):

What, what did Kyle just say? Samantha, did you speak what

Speaker 5 (18:20):

He speaks? He sounded like a bunch. Carville.

Sevan Matossian (18:23):

<laugh>. What? What did, oh no, Kyle, what country are you from?

Kyle Russell (18:26):

I’m from Scotland.

Sevan Matossian (18:27):

He’s from Scotland?

Kyle Russell (18:29):

Yeah.

Sevan Matossian (18:31):

Uh,

Speaker 5 (18:32):

Alright.

Sevan Matossian (18:32):

Okay. Thank you. Wish me luck Samantha. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (18:36):

Have a great show Bite.

Sevan Matossian (18:37):

Thank you. God, I so much rather talk about abortions and, and Down syndrome in, um, in, in Iceland and CrossFit, but I will shift gears. Kyle, thanks for doing this, by the way.

Kyle Russell (18:53):

No, thanks for having me. This really appreciate it.

Sevan Matossian (18:56):

I know this was super last minute and I just sent you the text. Uh, it’s all good. Last night. It’s funny cause when I sent you the text I knew you’d be asleep and I was like, oh shit, I gotta check my text right when I wake up and maybe we can get this scheduled in.

Kyle Russell (19:08):

Yeah, it’s good. It’s all good. Can you hear me clear enough? Yeah,

Sevan Matossian (19:11):

I can. Your accent is, is very strong.

Kyle Russell (19:14):

I promise. This is my pest, like slowest voice that I can put on. This is me really trying.

Sevan Matossian (19:21):

Okay. I, and I appreciate that. I, I appreciate, I love Posh. These are, I’m wearing my like $2,800 wooden sun, uh, uh, spectacles made of old skateboards. So do posh for me. Hey, um, so you’re the owner of CrossFit, uh, peak, uh, or CrossFit?

Kyle Russell (19:36):

Yeah, peak Fitness. CrossFit,

Sevan Matossian (19:37):

Yeah. Peak Fitness. CrossFit. I keep wanting to say Peak Fitness 360. That’s the gym in, uh, Florida, right?

Kyle Russell (19:44):

No idea.

Sevan Matossian (19:44):

Oh, okay. Good. Good answer. Great answer, great answer. And and how long have you owned Peak Fitness CrossFit?

Kyle Russell (19:51):

We only opened September 1st, so it’s been crazy. Yeah.

Sevan Matossian (19:56):

Holy shit. How old are you

Kyle Russell (19:59):

Twen? Uh, 30.

Sevan Matossian (20:00):

30. Wow. <inaudible> good on you. And, and you opened a gym and you’re already doing, is this the first, um, uh, of this event? This uh, oh,

Kyle Russell (20:11):

So back, uh, we, I had a small gym, um, which I opened in like 2018, just literally next to the house.

Sevan Matossian (20:20):

No, sorry, go ahead.

Kyle Russell (20:22):

Yeah, just next to the house. And it was just like a personal training studio. I would have myself and like three others in there. Um, and then I was kinda like, at that point and my life where I was like, man, I wanna do something like, like make a step up. Um, and it was between opening an affiliate and starting a big event. And at that point in time, I couldn’t figure out where to, to open the affiliate and where way I was looking to open. It was the way exactly I wanted to put it was was too expensive. And I was like, how, how am I gonna manage that? I didn’t have the, even though I’ve always been self-employed and had businesses, I wasn’t at the point where I was ready to do that. And at that point I thought event was something that was more manageable.

(21:06):

Like, although there’s a lot to it, if you have pretty organized and can write lists and just work your way through lists, that seems more manageable. Um, so that was the route that I went to try and the event. So we out started the event company in like October, 2019 and, uh, the first year, um, yeah, this is, that’s the job. Yeah. Um, yeah, the first year was supposed to be 2020 and obviously then Covid and the Lockdowns knocked that into touch. So we, we, we didn’t end up having it, um, in 2020, but we, we planned it and, and I waited pretty much to the last minute before I finally canceled it. Like a lot of events canceled much earlier on. And I waited until basically we went into full lockdown and people couldn’t go until we, we canceled the event, but we just kept it running until the next year, just postponed it. And then the first year as the festival was, um, 2021. And then, so this, this year will be the third year as the festival for the,

Sevan Matossian (22:06):

The third year of the festival. And, and, and, and was it a CrossFit event when it first started?

Kyle Russell (22:12):

It’s always been, you know, a functional fitness.

Sevan Matossian (22:15):

That’s what I meant. Yeah, that’s what I meant. Yeah. You just

Kyle Russell (22:18):

Call that, but

Sevan Matossian (22:19):

Yeah. Hey, isn’t it, isn’t it crazy dude, that you’re are, are you in that building where that red.is right now? Yeah,

Kyle Russell (22:27):

Right now. Yep.

Sevan Matossian (22:28):

Yeah, you’re there and I’m Oh, can’t even get me in the map over here. I’m all the way over here.

Kyle Russell (22:33):

Yep. I used to, I used to live in California myself, like for a very short time.

Sevan Matossian (22:39):

You live Oh, for how long?

Kyle Russell (22:41):

Just like a year.

Sevan Matossian (22:42):

What year was Oh, and where?

Kyle Russell (22:44):

Um, just across the border from Reno, like Northern California.

Sevan Matossian (22:48):

Okay. Uh, Tahoe.

Kyle Russell (22:50):

Yeah. Lia. Yeah. Just because we were, uh, like I was playing football all that soccer many, many, many years ago when I was 18.

Sevan Matossian (23:01):

What, um, this event, um, it has a, does it have a qualifier?

Kyle Russell (23:06):

Yeah, so the qualifiers are gonna come out April Festival, literally we have a week on Saturday until the call first came out and the deadline for people to register is like the day before. So the Friday, so a week on Friday is when, uh, the deadline is.

Sevan Matossian (23:23):

Yeah. So that, so that’s, um, that’s coming up very soon. There’s like 10, only 10 days left to register.

Kyle Russell (23:28):

10 days <inaudible>. Yeah. And it’s, it is honestly, so well set up for, my voice is pretty going from the quarter finals, so I I’ve not got much of my voice, but um, yeah, like it’s perfectly situated for people who wanna come across from America, from Europe. In fact, in year one when we first set the, the event up, we had so many people sign up from America, Australia, New Zealand, all over Europe, people from all over to come because like Scotland as known one as being like the most beautiful country in the world. And there was just nothing here that was utilized in what we had. And that when it, when I first set the event up, that was, there was this actual season at that point. So this actual season there was, you know, ov they were using their mountain where they would run up the volcano. There was North Norwegian CrossFit challenge and they had people going up, uh, miss Ski slope. Dubai had people out in the desert. We had the China, Chinese, um, Asian CrossFit challenge. They had like a Chinese implement that they used all these countries that were doing something that was really specific to where, to to their country. And using that as a kinda highlight for the competition.

Sevan Matossian (24:31):

Yeah.

Kyle Russell (24:32):

And, and Scotland just like known as the most beautiful country in the world. And yet there was nothing here. Um, the only event at the time was, was one that was indoors. And yet, so I’m an outdoor person myself. I’m always about for seasons. Um, and so I just wanted to use something that was the mountains I love <inaudible>, which is, it’s like the biggest fresh, uh, freshwater body of water in the UK lock. It’s a big well known, um, lock or lake and, and Scotland. But as much as it’s like, it seems like you’re in the middle of nowhere. You’re, you are right in the shadow of the mountains. You’re um, you’ve got the mountains one side, you get the walk there at the same time, like it’s really, really accessible. So you only like 35 minutes from international airport Glasgow in terms drive and then like 45 minutes from Glasgow Central Station like train station. So the actual logistics of, of the event and how accessible it is, is perfectly made for international athletes and people traveling across to come and compete. So, you know, you literally feel like you’re in the hail in the middle of nowhere, but it’s still pretty easy to get to.

Sevan Matossian (25:36):

Um, uh, what’s it mean that it’s a, um, uh, license CrossFit event? What does that mean?

Kyle Russell (25:43):

Um, I don’t even know. Just like you have. So similar to when you fill your gym, it’s, it’s very similar. So there was a bit of a lengthy process to go through. Um, we had to sort of show previous years show, show what we’ve done, um, previously, um, show like the, like the logistics show how accessible it actually was to get there, but to show that kind of stuff. Um, and then just show us some of the programming and bits and pieces. And then CrossFit q just looked at it and then if you get accepted, they would then, um, give you like a contract and it basically means you’re just similar to like with your gym, you’re allowed to use the, the name and, and you know, have it as a CrossFit license event. It’s on the CrossFit, um, games website. So you can go in and look through all the license events that is very similar to like affiliating the gym in terms of you, you pay a fee to be licensed and then, um, you can, you can use the cross by name.

Sevan Matossian (26:35):

Um, so people will, people will register now and then the qualifier will be from the first to the 21st. Yeah, yeah. And, and then basically straight from there, then you’ll know who actually gets an invite. And then basically you fly out to Scotland in the second week of July and uh, and get it on. Um, can you give us any idea what the qualifier looks like? How many workouts it is?

Kyle Russell (26:58):

Yeah, so there’s one weeks, two weeks. So one event will come out or one qualifier will come out every week, but you still have the full three week period to, to do the, the, the fee qualifiers. It’s actually gonna be four scores. So it’s 3, 3 1 count four scores. Um, I was actually speaking to Taylor Taylor self and he was saying that he was quite keen to, to pick it apart, pick up, pick the qualifiers apart. So I’m happy for them to do that afterwards. Um, but I, I think the qual the actual qualifying events and the programming that at the, the, uh, the festival are really unique. Um, and I think that’s one of the main things that’s so good about it. Like I, some, some events like, to be honest with you, we are not set up to make money. Like as an event, we had an individual competition, all athletes compete over two days.

(27:46):

And that was something that was really keen to do was to make sure, like whether you’re scaled an immediate RX athlete, no matter what level you’re at, you’ll still complete six or seven events across two days. Um, and so in that sense, yeah, like the program is really split. It allows us to then do some more single modality tests. Um, so like year one we had like a mountain trail run, so they ran up with the mountains nearby, like halfway out the mountain came back down. So just, just a mountain trail run is, is the first event, like really have to test to do something like that single modality if you only have, you know, three tests in, in a weekend. So we have like six or seven tests across the weekend and so that we can really test everyth and, and and the qualifiers themselves, I kinda see them as part of the overall program. So if you look at like the three, four workouts or the qualifiers, they’re very much testing you inside the box and then everything that we do, as much as testing you outside the box. Um, we also had like, so 2021 the festival, we had like an open water, uh, swim and kayak I event and then

Sevan Matossian (28:46):

Open swimming kayak event.

Kyle Russell (28:47):

Yeah. So we had open watch swimming in Kayak. So

Sevan Matossian (28:49):

And that’s in the same water where the Lochness monster is?

Kyle Russell (28:52):

No, that’s Lochness

Sevan Matossian (28:54):

<laugh>. Oh, okay.

Kyle Russell (28:54):

That’s a different lock. Yeah. Load. Yeah. So it was like four, 400 meter open watch, swim, came in, grab a kayak and then do like a 600 meter Yeah, kayak. And then the year later Dave wrote, done that at the games, done a kirk at the games. So that was pretty cool. Yeah. And then we did, um, that same year we did like a, a sandbag clean ladder. So we had like five different sandbags and just as fast as you can run through them, um, all the way down. And then obviously now we had the sandbag clean ladder at the games last year, just try to kill. So it’s pretty cool to see some of the stuff that we’re doing as, uh, in line with, uh,

Sevan Matossian (29:31):

Yeah. Um, why is, is, uh, is, are those dates too close to the games? Why did you pick those dates?

Kyle Russell (29:39):

Um, I was speaking to someone this other day. It’s, it’s really hard for us to find a time cause Scotland’s not the, the warmest place in the world that you can do the type of events that we do outside of the summer. It’s really got to be in the summer. Um, the only thing we could do and be, make it slightly earlier or slightly later, but the games are in August.
