#758 – Wodapalooza 2023 Team Day 1 Event 2

Listen now

Sevan Matossian (00:01):

Bam, we’re live. Uh, why am I, Matt Burns, uh, Sevan is gonna have a nuclear meltdown by the end of this weekend. What happened? What happened? What did I miss? What did I miss? Uh, before I say anything else, uh, and before you write anything, um, let me, oh, yeah, this is a good point. Has, uh, uh, uh, did you, did Paige Samza reach out with, uh, for any photo tips to, uh, Danny Spiegel? Well, that, I mean, if she wants to increase her, uh, followers, she could do that. Um, I wanna show you something really quick. I, I started the last show with this, and I just wanna reiterate it, uh, a little bit more. Uh, there’s a guy out there named Brian Spin. He has a website called the, uh, barbell Spin. Uh, he’s been an amazing, uh, resource for all of us in the space. He was around for a while, then he vanished, and now he’s back on the scene. And I wanna show you this s shot he got with his iPhone yesterday of, uh, the great, the great GI Mahers. Uh, there should be 30 shots like this, but I think he might be, uh, the only one. Okay. Action.

(01:40):

And this is a guy he spent 250 bucks to fly to waals of his own money, sleeping on someone’s couch, and just, I mean, can you pull up his whole Instagram? This Instagram is crazy.

Taylor Self (01:51):

Yeah. He made that real himself. He’s better than like a 16 year old girl.

Sevan Matossian (01:56):

He is better than a 16 year old girl. You’re right. It’s fucking amazing. Now, what’s crazy is, and this is kind of what I was trying to share with Don Falwell, uh, the CEO of CrossFit, uh, who I very, very, very fond of. This is what I’m trying to share with them. This, these are people out here making this shit for free. And it’s 10 times better than anything that they have at CrossFit games. And those, I betcha they have five people on the ground and have spent fucking 20 to $50,000 to cover Waap Polooza. It, it’s, it’s absolutely nuts that this guy, uh, no one’s reaching out. I mean, uh, they could just ask this guy for his shit, Hey, we’re gonna give you $10 a photo. I mean, what is going on? This is, this is the biggest problem. Uh, I mean, with the, uh, notoriety, the best guys are, are are doing, I mean, he’s doing it cuz it’s passion.

Taylor Self (02:46):

Yeah. CrossFits Media Department sounds like when you said in that someone came in for an interview and they said, Hey, are you retarded? And they’re like, yeah. And you’re like, all right. You fraught. You’re, you’re

Sevan Matossian (02:53):

Hired. <laugh>. Yeah, yeah, yeah. <laugh>. Yeah. That is exactly how they did the, that is what’s going on there. There’s a prerequisite to be retarded in order to work there. Here’s the thing too. I, I implore any and all athletes to support this guy. The barbell spin. This is, I’m envious of what he’s doing. The only thing I have, I have three little boys. That’s the only thing better in my life than his life. And, uh, uh, I, maybe he has kids too, but it’s crazy what he’s doing. He is really giving, uh, the athletes a place to showcase their shit. Look at Lucas Parker like the sweat off, sweat off his forehead. Okay. Uh, the final heat has started of event two. We’re back with Mr. Uh, beaver and Matt Suza and Mr. Self of smtp. Oh, we got one more. We got more of one more fun one that, uh, Caleb insists that we do. You wanna

Mattew Souza (03:44):

Walk for us

Sevan Matossian (03:45):

Too? Sure, sure, sure. One more fun one. Oh, this is from the CrossFit Games. Yeah. Oh, let’s see what they got.

Taylor Self (03:51):

Looks like the boys are out in front. Yeah, that’s horrible.

Sevan Matossian (03:58):

Okay, so the CrossFit Games thinks it’s cool to show them jerking with a filter on, uh, they think that this is fucking Comic-Con and some brownie shit. My God.

Taylor Self (04:10):

Did you see Mike? Have you

Sevan Matossian (04:11):

Seen movie? Is that real? Is that really CrossFit games? Yes.

Taylor Self (04:14):

Look

Sevan Matossian (04:14):

At even Barbell Spin said, have y’all been hacked? Did you see this? Oh my God, that’s bad. Have

Taylor Self (04:19):

You seen the movie Midsummer?

Caleb Beaver (04:21):

No.

Taylor Self (04:23):

Savon.

Sevan Matossian (04:23):

No. But I want to, but let’s, let’s get to this event real quick and then when we’re do some downtime, we’ll ask pound those guys. My goodness. What is going on over there? The Great John Young is in the house. Uh, we will switch over and make, uh, the su cam as he walks to the whistle bigger, uh, su do we have anyone in, uh, the Bay, bay Point Bay Love Bay? Bay Bay, whatever stadium.

Mattew Souza (04:49):

Uh, hopefully somebody got in there, but that line never really died down. It just stayed consistent since we last, uh, showed everybody on there. Uh, I have,

Sevan Matossian (04:58):

Uh, is there any way you can get in there?

Mattew Souza (05:01):

Let’s go find out.

Sevan Matossian (05:03):

Yeah, why don’t you walk, can you walk around to the side where they finished? Remember la remember where, uh, right by the tunnel? Can you walk in the, the exit way

Taylor Self (05:10):

Bukowski’s first out of the water?

Mattew Souza (05:11):

Yeah. We’ll, we’ll give it

Sevan Matossian (05:12):

A go. Okay. Uh, go ahead. Taylor.

Taylor Self (05:14):

Brent Kowski is in the lead on the triplet portion, the D Ball, clean Swim, and Squat. We don’t know what the order of lead is on the AirRunner. So it, what what I I’m assuming is gonna happen is we’re not gonna really know who wins the 5K until that portion is over. And what we’re just gonna be watching is essentially a race on the D ball. And Falkowski is at the ball up first, and he’s got his first squat, second squat, third squat for Falkowski. He’s four squats ahead. Now, Noah Olson’s got the ball up. Fk Kowski is five squats in. I don’t think Noah’s gonna be able to catch him despite a slightly quicker cycle pace on the squat. Let’s see.

Sevan Matossian (05:56):

Uh, and, and this is two scored events. So theoretically someone could just go on the run or run the 5K and do nothing else and take zero in the other one.

Taylor Self (06:05):

Yes. Yeah, they would have to take zero in the other event.

Sevan Matossian (06:08):

Correct. Okay. And then you could do it the other way too. You could just have your three guys sprint through the other event and not know one even get on the runner. Correct.

Taylor Self (06:14):

But that’s not a winning strategy.

Sevan Matossian (06:17):

No, no. It might

Taylor Self (06:18):

Say cotton.

Sevan Matossian (06:18):

Right. Okay. And and are they scored equally? They’re both a hundred point events.

Taylor Self (06:23):

They are scored equally. You know, there’s an interesting technique difference here in the squats. A lot of guys are shouldering the D ball to squat it. Oh, wow. It looks like, uh, Noel Olson actually beat Brent Falkowski off of the D Ball. Man, these cleans are tough with the water like that. D balls are wet. Chandler Smith is in the lead. Pat Vener is also on the D ball cleans. A lot of the athletes are bear hug squatting versus squatting the ball on their shoulder. And the thing that makes the bear hug squat slightly easier is when you get the ball in between your legs like that and you get to the bottom of the squat, you can almost rest part of the weight on your legs. And so it’s like you’re deloading some of the weight on the squat.

Sevan Matossian (07:09):

What is Hopper thinks it’s Hopper looks like Hopper’s doing touch and go. Why is he doing that?

Taylor Self (07:13):

No, he’s not.

Sevan Matossian (07:14):

Yeah, he did three. Who is that? He just did three Shoulder to, um,

Taylor Self (07:17):

That’s a, that’s a guy next to Hopper with the white cap.

Sevan Matossian (07:24):

Oh, they’re, they shoulder it and squatted. Okay. I didn’t realize that,

Taylor Self (07:27):

That some guys are finishing their first round of the triplet, which is so, so it’s a, it’s basically one round through 21 cleans open water swim, 15 squats. And so you’re seeing some guys finishing their last bit while other guys are starting

Sevan Matossian (07:41):

It. That’s what they call it. They’re calling that a clean a Dal

Taylor Self (07:45):

D ball, clean dal to shoulder. Yep.

Sevan Matossian (07:48):

Is that the same as shouldering?

Taylor Self (07:50):

Yes. Yeah.

Sevan Matossian (07:50):

Okay.

Taylor Self (07:51):

Chandler Smith off of the D Ball first entering the water. Pat Vener is not gonna be far behind.

Sevan Matossian (07:59):

Look at that girl. Pretending not to look at him as he walks by. Do you see that? She, you’re she’s just like, I thought it was just guys who did that.

Mattew Souza (08:05):

Hey, seven until, uh, you were looking up the other monitor, but, uh, we got blocked.

Sevan Matossian (08:11):

Yeah, right there. Can you just walk through there?

Mattew Souza (08:14):

You, you weren’t watching. I walked through there and I had it on the screen. The gentleman over there told me it was a no go let pass that.

Sevan Matossian (08:20):

Oh. What if you don’t have a camera? What if you just wanna go back there and smoke a blunt. Oh,

Mattew Souza (08:24):

What? Move by Pat.

Taylor Self (08:26):

Yeah. Pat Vener pass Chandler Smith on the ramp. Dove in the water right

Sevan Matossian (08:30):

Ahead. Just dived right

Mattew Souza (08:32):

Before. Hey, I’m gonna swing around to that opposite side and see if I can get in over there. Please get shot that opposite side.

Sevan Matossian (08:38):

Okay. Uh, I’m gonna give you guys an instant replay of that. Was that good? I missed it. Yeah,

Taylor Self (08:43):

It was a good pass. Yeah. Chandler Smith walked the whole way from his D ball to the water entrance and Pat jogged it and dove ahead of him.

Sevan Matossian (08:51):

Okay. Let’s see. Willie

John Young (08:52):

Georges is in third for team Go

Taylor Self (08:54):

Wide. Looks like Chandler’s still gonna pass. Pat on the swim.

Sevan Matossian (08:58):

So this is a couple seconds ago. This is what Taylor was talking about. Uh, pat just, oh man. Wow. Wow. I love that. That’s solid, right?

Taylor Self (09:08):

Uh, Chandler caught ’em on the swim. Chandler’s now ahead. They are rounding the buoy. What

John Young (09:15):

Do you think there’s Tyler, Georges and third, I believe.

Taylor Self (09:17):

Nope, that’s Hopper,

John Young (09:19):

Is it? Yep. Willie Georges behind him. Then

Sevan Matossian (09:22):

L look at how there’s three people talking to Vener now. Is that necessary? How about just one person talk to him?

Taylor Self (09:27):

What do you, what do you mean? Where,

Sevan Matossian (09:28):

Where like, as he goes by those judges, he doesn’t even acknowledge him.

John Young (09:32):

Look how Fast House he’s gone.

Taylor Self (09:35):

Yeah.

John Young (09:36):

Around 14 minutes is when we should be looking for the 5k, uh, winner. The leading run right now is 1415.

Taylor Self (09:44):

I don’t know that anyone’s gonna beat the Canadians on this workout just,

John Young (09:49):

Just by being fitter. <laugh>

Taylor Self (09:51):

The totality. No, the, no. Brent and Pat are such good runners. Um,

John Young (09:56):

The good do, I mean, hopper and Sprague are just as good as runners and Spragues.

Taylor Self (10:02):

No, Spragues not as as good of a, I don’t believe Sprague as good of a runner as Brent or Pat.

Sevan Matossian (10:08):

Uh, Edo. Santos, uh, what are your thoughts on the official water polos? A stream. It has been a train wreck since the beginning. They should contract, uh, out to you. You mean just in terms of like the, I I don’t know what part of it’s been a train wreck. Just like the, um, the stutters and it going down

Taylor Self (10:21):

Hopper just passed Vener in the water. Wow. Pat’s on to a, to a breast stroke for a second.

John Young (10:30):

Hopper might catch Chandler. How far left that guy to go?

Taylor Self (10:33):

No. I don’t think Chandler’s getting caught in the water.

Sevan Matossian (10:35):

Look at Suza. Look at Suza making a move. Look at ’em. Look at ’em. Just at cool. At, cool at, cool. Yeah. Good

John Young (10:42):

Job. Suza.

Sevan Matossian (10:43):

That’s great. Yes. Suza. Yes. Suza. Hey, here’s the thing. I, they don’t need to contract it out. They just should just give us full access and we only add value. That’s what it comes down to. We just fucking add value. We love the fucking event. We love the athletes. We love everything that’s going on. Look at Marconi. Is that Jake Marconi getting some right in front there on? Yeah. Or just a dude with the pony?

John Young (11:05):

Some

Taylor Self (11:05):

Other dude with a, with a girl haircut. All

John Young (11:08):

Marco. Marco. The last heat. Yeah.

Sevan Matossian (11:11):

Uh, Suza Pan to the right. Just a tiny bit. Is that Travis Mayer? No,

Taylor Self (11:15):

Man, pat really got passed up. He’s slowing down on the water.

Sevan Matossian (11:23):

Uh, I’m, I’m, I’m, I’m pretty happy. I mean, I haven’t watched a lot. I just watched, uh, chase and, uh, Shawn go at it, uh, doing the women’s events for 40 minutes while I worked out. And I thought they did a great job. I thought, I mean, for the most part I liked it. I thought it was kind of a cheesed dick move that those girls took a photo together while the event was still going on the floor. You should have a little bit of etiquette, uh, wait to snap photos until all the athletes are done. Maybe

Taylor Self (11:48):

Chandler’s gonna be first back to the ramp,

Sevan Matossian (11:51):

But hey, uh, kudos to the, uh, to the, to the, uh, video team, the broadcast team, uh, Hamilton Road for capturing that. You know, I mean, like, then that gives us something to talk about to,

Taylor Self (12:01):

He’s gotta run, man. He’s walking too much.

John Young (12:02):

He’s not going to,

Taylor Self (12:03):

There we go. He’s trotting. Now

Sevan Matossian (12:05):

How steep is that ramp, Taylor, you’ve climbed out there?

Taylor Self (12:08):

Uh, it’s not,

Sevan Matossian (12:09):

It looks steep. It looks like the last thing you wanna do if you’re exhausted.

Caleb Beaver (12:12):

It’s pretty steep,

Sevan Matossian (12:14):

But it’s How come they all tip to that edge that that’s just like

John Young (12:18):

Susan, this view is great.

Caleb Beaver (12:20):

Last year when they had the ramp, it was like at an angle and they were coming and going off of the same side. So eventually the ramp was just like falling down to the side and I had to sit on the opposite side to counterbalance it, to ruin it from like falling into the water

Sevan Matossian (12:36):

With like, with like your feet in the water.

Caleb Beaver (12:38):

Yeah. Yeah. Well, I was just like, basically like, you know how when, you know how in sailing they counterbalance off the side of the boat? Yeah. That’s basically what I was doing on the side of the ramp.

Sevan Matossian (12:46):

Yeah. Well, it, it, it’s definitely tipping over into that one corner now. Hey, those are the kind of things, if you have a coach or if you’re an athlete, you should be paying attention to, right? Those are the, the nuances and the details that like, you know, that people always talk about that make the difference between the champions and the non champions.

Taylor Self (13:04):

I, I think something like that. Ramp tipping, that’s what we’re talking about. Yeah. Yeah. I think that’s more something that the best athletes adapt to on the fly. I don’t think a lot of coaches try to account for those. I think more that the things that me and Nier were talking about are like movement efficiency and, and small details. Not like, oh, the ramp’s tipping, but like, oh, are you shifting forward in your squat or are you getting your head through on your shoulder to overhead? Are you jumping the bar off your shoulders? Things like that. Um, that ramp tipping is just something that a good athlete can adapt to and a bad athlete’s gonna have an issue with.

Sevan Matossian (13:36):

What if I’m a coach and this year I notice that, so I make a note. So I tell my athletes next year, Hey, here’s 10 things I noticed last year that you may want to just pay attention to stay

Taylor Self (13:44):

Towards the center of the ramp. Yeah, but that’s not something they’re gonna think about in training. It’s like, okay, before the event, Hey, just make sure you stay in the center of that ramp.

Sevan Matossian (13:50):

Right? Uh, what is the demand on, uh, zelner’s core, Mr. Young holding the ball down low there by, uh, cock balls tough. Or, or is it so low that it’s not demanding on the core?

Taylor Self (14:00):

That’s so it’s a little better to squat that way almost, because at the bottom of the squat, you deload the weight of the ball as it hits your legs. Does that make sense?

Sevan Matossian (14:10):

Yes. Yes. It’s, it rests on your lap. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>. So, but, but young, if you hold it too high, you’ll, you’ll fuck up that whole concept, right? If you’re like two inches too high, you screwed it

Taylor Self (14:20):

Up. Correct. You gotta hold it right on your right on your pubic bone. Almost.

Sevan Matossian (14:26):

Yes, John.

John Young (14:28):

Yeah. Yeah. Mean

Sevan Matossian (14:29):

<laugh>

Taylor Self (14:31):

Right on the Mons.

John Young (14:32):

Something for me to add

Taylor Self (14:34):

Ons. Pubs baby. There’s a little pocket there. Some of these

John Young (14:37):

Guys get a little house. Hey, Canadian team is almost done with the run hand is in the air. They have 400 me, uh, 40 meters left. Four. I don’t know how they do the fingers.

Taylor Self (14:47):

Ah, it’s gonna be going by a hundred.

Sevan Matossian (14:49):

I don’t know how they do it either. Okay, so it’s 400. Yes.

John Young (14:52):

14, 10, 14, 11. There’s a whole bunch of hands in the air

Sevan Matossian (14:58):

Off to dinner, like, and subscribe and hit the bell. Email and text all

Taylor Self (15:02):

Your friends. This just straight out, all out sprinting looks

Sevan Matossian (15:06):

Like. And where do you see that? I

Taylor Self (15:07):

Don’t see it. Look at

Sevan Matossian (15:08):

His cheek shaking. Oh yes.

John Young (15:10):

That’s Ben Smith. Smith Bros. Team just finished. No, not that guy. He just finished though.

Sevan Matossian (15:16):

Okay. Hey, are you allowed to hold the rails while you run?

Taylor Self (15:19):

No.

Sevan Matossian (15:20):

No. So you get some sort of, uh, one or two seconds at a time to touch the rail, like if you were gonna fall or when you first get on or when you get off.

Taylor Self (15:31):

Correct.

Sevan Matossian (15:32):

Okay. And what is that time? Is it one, do they have a ti official time for that one or two?

John Young (15:36):

Yeah. So all of the teams were behind the winning time of the last seat. Last seat. The winning time was 1415. So I think team training culture or team team, uh, training programming won the 5K at 14.

Taylor Self (15:49):

Well, yeah, don’t bleep that out.

Sevan Matossian (15:53):

Which part?

Taylor Self (15:54):

Any, any programming where it doesn’t come from my mouth or Jr’s?

Mattew Souza (15:58):

<laugh>.

Sevan Matossian (16:01):

Oh, let’s

Taylor Self (16:01):

See. Adler’s entering the water. I’m not sure who’s ahead of ’em. Is that a young James Sprague in the water?

Sevan Matossian (16:11):

Oh, look, uh, my mom just sent me this. I don’t know if you can see it. You can’t see it? Damn. Uh, it looks like my six year old son’s working on the next CrossFit games. Post Nudie.

Mattew Souza (16:22):

<laugh> <laugh>.

Sevan Matossian (16:26):

It’s Rebecca the Rabbit,

Mattew Souza (16:29):

Mickey Mouse. Heres

Taylor Self (16:30):

Oh wow. Those little graphics.

Sevan Matossian (16:34):

Yeah. I don’t know what is going on over there. Uh, team Pank and Fifth Place with only one pan on it. Spencer Panik.

John Young (16:44):

There’s two Pan or no, no, no, you’re right, you’re right. Sorry.

Sevan Matossian (16:48):

And, uh, we got Tu Magda on the team and Jacob’s the other guy. Jacob Hoeppner. Thank you Rich phony. Getting some camera time. Uh, he definitely had his hands on the rails for more than two seconds.

Taylor Self (17:03):

It’s hard to tell who that is. I don’t think it’s James Sprague. I think that’s Travis Mayer. I think so too. Yeah, bet that is Travis Mayer.

John Young (17:12):

They’re kind of making a statement. They’ve uh, they won this one. They won the last one.

Taylor Self (17:17):

Travis is a good swimmer. Whose stroke is that?

Sevan Matossian (17:21):

Well, someone in the comments wrote, uh, rich Froning is 56 years old.

Mattew Souza (17:25):

<laugh>.

Sevan Matossian (17:28):

God, it’s dickhead Central over there.

John Young (17:32):

You’re saying Roman is behind him. Behind Travis.

Mattew Souza (17:36):

What’s up with the Roman stroke?

Taylor Self (17:38):

That’s, yeah. It’s what it looks like. That’s his stroke. He just is up. He’s a big dude, man. Not sure

Sevan Matossian (17:44):

Hey, it works for him, but it’s got a little bit of that Frankenstein feel, right The way it slaps the water.

Caleb Beaver (17:50):

He’s probably wasting so much energy reaching his arms all the way back like that. Like a

Taylor Self (17:54):

Windmill. You see how high he is in the water, how upward angle he looks. It just, when, when you’re swimming like that and you’re swimming uphill, your shoulders get so tired, it’s almost your’re, almost flushing them by swinging them like that instead of keeping your elbow up and your arm bent a little more and reaching. Um, so he is just got such a shoulder dominant, la dominant upper body dominant stroke, which is not ideal, but he’s so aerobically fit that he does well in the water compared to the field. Put him up against any swimmer. He is gonna get destroyed.

Sevan Matossian (18:24):

Um, hey, um, would you, could you beat Chase Ingram and uh, uh, are you a better swimmer than Chase Ingram?

Taylor Self (18:29):

I don’t know what kind of background he has. He’s

John Young (18:31):

A swimmer.

Taylor Self (18:32):

Collegiate.

Sevan Matossian (18:33):

Collegiate.

Caleb Beaver (18:34):

Collegiate.

Taylor Self (18:35):

<laugh>. Well, I’ve He’s a

John Young (18:37):

Swimmer.

Taylor Self (18:38):

Yeah, I’ve beaten some. I’ve beaten some.

Sevan Matossian (18:42):

Oh, chase is saying it’s a Russian technique. <laugh> racist. Okay, so it looks like, it looks like pretty much everyone’s done except the lift move and faster, heavier, faster lifting team.

Taylor Self (18:57):

Lift heavy, move slow.

Sevan Matossian (18:59):

Yes. <laugh>. Oh, and Travis. Uh, although Travis Mayer. Ooh, Travis almost fell making that turn.

Taylor Self (19:04):

He’s got a few no reps on this D ball right here. Christian Harris has, he should try my program. We spent a lot of time on the ball.

Sevan Matossian (19:11):

<laugh>. There you go.

Caleb Beaver (19:13):

Does Roman have a mayhem tattoo?

Sevan Matossian (19:15):

Yes.

Taylor Self (19:15):

Or is that one of those he’s doing, it’s not an actual mayhem tattoo. It’s just a, a sticker.

Sevan Matossian (19:21):

That’s cool. Okay, so the boys are hurting here. Uh, they got a fresh Travis Mayer, fresh Chandler Smith’s fresh? No, uh, no. Uh, what’s his last name? Olson. Olson, uh, fresh Noah Olson. And they are not, uh, they’re not even close to contention for winning the second half.

Taylor Self (19:37):

It doesn’t even look like Tim Paulson swam. Look at his hair. It’s fully dry.

Sevan Matossian (19:42):

Where is he?

Taylor Self (19:43):

He must have had a swim gap on

Sevan Matossian (19:44):

Which video? Ours are theirs.

Taylor Self (19:46):

He was on the stream. Yeah, he’s off now.

John Young (19:49):

No, the, the boys are murdering it.

Taylor Self (19:52):

Yeah,

John Young (19:55):

2213 was the, uh, winning time to beat. So all of these teams are way ahead of them.

Sevan Matossian (20:02):

Oh, they are ahead of them. Well, how come everyone looks like they’re done and they’re the only ones working? They’re that far ahead. Yeah. Oh, so everything I said was the exact opposite of the truth.

John Young (20:11):

Well, they’re out

Taylor Self (20:12):

In second Canadian. Wow.

Sevan Matossian (20:17):

Okay. So they’re killing it. They’re absolutely unstoppable.

John Young (20:21):

Yeah, they’re they’re doing phenomenal. Well, I mean, we don’t know how their 5K is, but

Taylor Self (20:25):

Jeff Adler passed. Who? James Sprague. Wow.

Sevan Matossian (20:32):

Adler looks so fresh. His squats don’t look like anyone else’s.

Taylor Self (20:36):

Spragues have an

John Young (20:37):

Tough adler’s. An amazing squatter. I wonder if Team Pan will beat him. Hmm. Oh, they’re, they’re close. They’re closing in.

Taylor Self (20:49):

Who’s squatting for Team Pan? I don’t know. I don’t know. Oh, they’re gonna catch up. They’re gonna pass. Yep. Team Pan’s gonna pass. Maybe

John Young (20:56):

It’s, there’s three left.

Taylor Self (20:58):

Yeah. I don’t know. I don’t think he did it.

John Young (21:00):

He’s done.

Sevan Matossian (21:02):

Oh fuck

John Young (21:03):

This guy. Hold on.

Taylor Self (21:05):

Wow. Five seconds.

Sevan Matossian (21:10):

Sprague almost dd TD himself, his face right into the ground. D

Taylor Self (21:14):

Dtd.

Sevan Matossian (21:14):

D dtd.

Taylor Self (21:16):

What does that mean? I

Sevan Matossian (21:17):

Dunno. It’s just a wrestling move. I remember from a little kid when I used to watch WW F Oh shit. Yeah, Tim Paulson’s hair is dry.

Taylor Self (21:24):

Yeah, I think he wore a swim cap.

John Young (21:33):

Bkg should just, uh, put the ball down and say that they finished.

Sevan Matossian (21:38):

Is that how they did that? What happened in that last event?

John Young (21:40):

He rode for 40 meters.

Taylor Self (21:43):

That’s fucking unreal.

John Young (21:44):

Instead of two 40,

Taylor Self (21:46):

You know that, that’s confirmed.

John Young (21:48):

Yeah. The judge said you’re good. She had her hand in the air like immediately and it was 40 meters. And then she said, you’re good. And he ran.

Sevan Matossian (21:54):

But how does that king, is that King bk in friends?

Taylor Self (21:57):

Yes. Yeah. How do you know that was 40 meters? Do you know? Like, where’d you get that?

John Young (22:01):

Uh, from the, from the comments. So I guess not confirmed, but,

Sevan Matossian (22:05):

But hey, they’re still in first even with that.

John Young (22:08):

Yeah. They haven’t fixed it.

Sevan Matossian (22:11):

Or maybe they did fix it.

John Young (22:12):

No, cuz he was behind like the last five teams. You have to add, you have to add like 30 seconds to their time. And if they’re saying, if they’re saying that we can’t fix it, it was a judge air. Oh,

Taylor Self (22:29):

His biceps cramping up. You look at Sam Cornier, look at his bicep.

John Young (22:34):

Is this mayhem?

Taylor Self (22:35):

Yeah. Look at his bicep cramping up. Oh man. That

John Young (22:39):

I wonder. I mean, he’s, he’s got eight squats.

Sevan Matossian (22:42):

Oh shit. Wow. Can he It’s cramping up Good.

John Young (22:46):

He’s not gonna be able to lift it. It’s gonna cramp. As soon as he touched. As soon as he starts.

Sevan Matossian (22:50):

Hi. His hand like turned into a claw. His hand turned into a claw.

Taylor Self (22:55):

Bear hug. Squat it.

John Young (23:00):

Oh, you’re fine, man.

Sevan Matossian (23:08):

Oh, that was crazy to watch, wasn’t it? To watch his arm cramp like that.

John Young (23:14):

Well,

Sevan Matossian (23:19):

10th place in this 10th place in this heat from mayhem.

Taylor Self (23:25):

Tough. How many times coming to Waap Polos and losing on a team? Do you think it takes for Rich before he is just like, all right, I’m fucking done with this place.

John Young (23:40):

<laugh>. I mean, how many times is Brian gonna r him first before he realizes Waap Polos is not the games and he’s not, it doesn’t have it rigged.

Sevan Matossian (23:48):

Oh damn.

Taylor Self (23:49):

Rich has the games rigged.

John Young (23:51):

No, no, no, no. He’s got the, the system rigged like Rich, rich is, will go into whatever category that he’s gonna be the fittest person in. You know what I mean? And there’s not gonna be equally as fit people. And I mean, the game, the team has always been like that.

Taylor Self (24:08):

Oh wow. That sounds fucked up. But D D T,

Sevan Matossian (24:11):

God, I can’t believe Ken Walters knows this. Uh, in professional wrestling, A D D T is any move in which the wrestler has the opponent in a front face lock inverted, headlock, and falls down or backwards to drive the opponent’s head into the mat. I didn’t, I haven’t heard that term. D d t in 30 years. I don’t even know where

Taylor Self (24:26):

It’s double dick. Take down baby. Yeah, the dirty dick. Take down. Yeah.

Sevan Matossian (24:31):

Did you know it Caleb?

Caleb Beaver (24:33):

I had looked it up, but I know I’ve, I know what it is now that

John Young (24:36):

I’ve seen it. Yeah, it’s a vessel dude.

Sevan Matossian (24:37):

Yeah. Yeah. There it is. That guy on top is getting the d d t.

John Young (24:41):

That’s where you get in a guillotine. And then, uh,

Taylor Self (24:44):

When he said, when you said profe, when the guy in the comment said, professional wrestling, I was thinking like wrestling, not wwe. <laugh>

John Young (24:52):

Collegiate

Taylor Self (24:53):

Wrestling. And I was like, that doesn’t sound legal. Yeah, it’s collegiate not the correct word to use.

John Young (24:58):

Guys. That’s not what you said.

Caleb Beaver (25:00):

You said collegiate

John Young (25:02):

Collegial. Eat

Taylor Self (25:04):

My fucking dick. Meat

Sevan Matossian (25:06):

<laugh>. Mark Bell flew Jake, the snakes move. I maybe it was, I can’t remember. Jake the Snake. Yeah, maybe. Yeah, I guess I can kinda see that. Yeah. I’m

Taylor Self (25:13):

Gonna give you guys the double dick. Take down <laugh>.

Sevan Matossian (25:17):

Uh, there was a video game with the character called the Piran and that was his move too, I think. So that was, uh, Alex Smith, uh, finishing up 15th. Is that Daddy’s Angels? No, Smith Brothers. Okay, so they took 14th.

John Young (25:33):

No, daddy’s angels is Chris Harris’s team.

Sevan Matossian (25:37):

Well, Chris Harris’s team might be in last place, but they sure look good.

Taylor Self (25:41):

<laugh>. It’s all about the looks baby.

John Young (25:45):

It is for them.

Sevan Matossian (25:52):

Chandler Smith getting a towel.

Taylor Self (25:54):

Yeah, they smoked it.

Sevan Matossian (25:56):

Hey, did you see that you weren’t allowed to use a towel to drive your ball? Why do you think that was?

John Young (26:00):

I don’t, I don’t know. Even

Taylor Self (26:02):

The playing field.

John Young (26:03):

I feel like the way, but they

Caleb Beaver (26:04):

Weren’t even letting them wipe. They weren’t even letting wipe down the floor either.

Taylor Self (26:10):

We want to add in as much danger as possible.

John Young (26:16):

I feel like the later heats get disa. This is more of a disadvantage to them than

Taylor Self (26:20):

The first. Yeah. Cause it’s so much wetter. Absolutely.

Sevan Matossian (26:23):

I show you two, uh, funny things right here. Uh,

Taylor Self (26:27):

<laugh>, deep down <laugh>.

Sevan Matossian (26:30):

I’m gonna show you two funny moves here. Uh, look at this. Uh, athleticism on, uh, Noah Olson’s part on this. Uh, there’s gonna be a replay here.

Taylor Self (26:43):

What? Huh?

Sevan Matossian (26:44):

Look at this. Woo. What? Woo. Now, uh, this next thing you’re about to see, uh, tell me which athlete this is. Right? Uh, here. Who’s that?

John Young (26:54):

Brent Fki.

Sevan Matossian (26:55):

Okay, Brent, let me tell you. Somebody do not run down the ramp with your hands up like that buddy <laugh>.

John Young (26:59):

No way.

Sevan Matossian (27:03):

Oh, Brent, I love you. It’s too easy. I’m sorry. I do like you. I’m sorry. It’s too easy. I won’t, I’ll leave you alone. I’m, why do I do that?

Taylor Self (27:10):

I can just hear him going as he runs down the ramp.

Sevan Matossian (27:13):

He’s never gonna come on the show if I keep doing that.

Taylor Self (27:16):

Has he ever been

Sevan Matossian (27:17):

On? No, but I like him and we, I think we have. Yeah,

John Young (27:19):

He did. He was here for Hunter McIntyre.

Sevan Matossian (27:22):

Brent Frankowski.

John Young (27:23):

Yeah. Brent Falkowski and Hunter McIntyre when added on your show, and that’s why he won’t come back.

Taylor Self (27:28):

Oh, wow. Did that what

Sevan Matossian (27:30):

You’re saying that on this show

John Young (27:32):

You, you mediated it

Sevan Matossian (27:33):

<laugh>. Okay, hold on a second. Let’s see what’s going on here with Mr. I

John Young (27:36):

Mediated it. No, no. Savon.

Taylor Self (27:37):

Yeah. I’m like, what the fuck

Sevan Matossian (27:38):

Are you talking about? No, I never had Brenton when

John Young (27:41):

Hunter McIntyre was at the games.

Sevan Matossian (27:43):

Yeah,

John Young (27:44):

You had, you had him and him and Brent on

Sevan Matossian (27:47):

Oh oh, like on for the CrossFit podcast?

John Young (27:51):

Yes.

Sevan Matossian (27:52):

Oh shit. I don’t even remember that. Wow.

John Young (27:54):

Not not for Guap Polooza, but he’s been on the podcast before.

Sevan Matossian (27:58):

Oh. Jiggy Josh is saying that was Armen show.

Taylor Self (28:01):

Ah, yeah. Just, ah, he’s culturally app appropriating you with Armon

Sevan Matossian (28:06):

Hammer, bro. You can’t tell two Armenians apart. Yeah, same. You can’t tell. Same. Holy shit. Holy shit. This motherfucker picked Lucy, this motherfucker picked Amy Kringle instead of Lucy Campbell, and he picked Armon Hammer instead of Sub Sian. You

Taylor Self (28:19):

Both look like you got a gallon of life source in your hair and fucking wear glasses.

Sevan Matossian (28:28):

Okay, uh, let’s, let’s eavesdrops on that, uh, interview that Mr. Spin is doing with Matt Suza. Sorry, Suza let us in on this shit. Who’s he interviewing? Looks like a know.

John Young (28:36):

That’s my bad. That’s my bad

Sevan Matossian (28:37):

Guys. That’s, I like it. I’m glad

Taylor Self (28:40):

That’s my, that

Sevan Matossian (28:41):

Is Suza. Let’s hear this shit. The

Mattew Souza (28:44):

German, you guys aren’t gonna be able to the music, so, uh,

Sevan Matossian (28:49):

Tell us what we can and can’t hear. We can’t hear shit. <laugh>. Yeah, <laugh>.

Mattew Souza (28:54):

We could have, uh, Brian recap what he just did now that they killed the music. Hold on.

Sevan Matossian (29:03):

Uh, let me see if I can get, uh, let’s pull up. Can we pull up the leaderboards? Uh, Mr. Caleb,

John Young (29:08):

The Women’s Leader Board’s updated.

Sevan Matossian (29:10):

Oh, okay. Let’s, let’s cruise on over there and let me see if I can send, uh, Ariel Lowen a, um,

John Young (29:20):

Do they have another event tonight?

Sevan Matossian (29:23):

I, I think there is one more, uh, uh, event. I

John Young (29:27):

Mean, she’s probably getting ready for it then.

Sevan Matossian (29:30):

Let’s see if we can get her on. Here we go. Oh, I think, oh, maybe, maybe, uh, maybe, uh, Suza already sent her a link. Uh, maybe, uh, should I send, uh, you know, if she doesn’t respond, I could always, I it would be cool to hear from, uh, Rebecca Fussier and see, uh, see how she’s doing after the individuals. Okay.
