#353 – Anikha Greer CrossFit Quarterfinals Submission Fiasco

Listen now

Sevan Matossian (00:02):

Bam. We’re live Anika. You look like you’re 12. Yeah. How old are you?

Anikha Greer (00:08):

I’m 18.

Sevan Matossian (00:09):

Let me see some ID. Let me see some ID. Holy cow.

Mattew Ouza (00:13):

They’re getting younger on the show here. 16, 18.

Sevan Matossian (00:17):

Thanks for coming on. Yeah,

Anikha Greer (00:19):

Of course. Thank you for having me on.

Sevan Matossian (00:21):

Are you, um, are you, um, are you tripping or are we, are you stable?

Anikha Greer (00:28):

I mean, I’m as stable. I’m as stable as I’m gonna be

Sevan Matossian (00:34):

Like, you, you worked your ass off for when, when did you find CrossFit?

Anikha Greer (00:39):

Um, when I was 13, just turned 13

Sevan Matossian (00:42):

And you just turned 19?

Anikha Greer (00:44):

No, I’m not 19 till June.

Sevan Matossian (00:46):

Oh, wow. Yeah. I, I think it says in your profile you’re 19.

Anikha Greer (00:50):

Yeah, it’s uh, I have one of those, those weird birthdays where it’s between at least when I was a teenager, I missed the, like, I only got three years instead of four, cuz my birthday’s between the open and, and the games. So it’s like your birthday as of that competition year. So technically like as of 20, 22 I’m 19, but not till June.

Sevan Matossian (01:10):

Another error by CrossFiting. No, I’m,

Brian Friend (01:15):

That’s what I’m walking into here.

Sevan Matossian (01:17):

Brian, Brian

Mattew Ouza (01:19):

You’s like divorce, Brian,

Sevan Matossian (01:21):

Brian friend, Anika Greer. I just asked to see her ID. She is um, 18 years old. Um, I was just saying that on the, uh, on the website, it says that she’s 19

Brian Friend (01:31):

Which website

Sevan Matossian (01:32):

On the CrossFit games website. I think,

Brian Friend (01:34):

I think it usually reflects the age. The athlete will be at the games if they make the games.

Sevan Matossian (01:38):

Gotcha. And I think she was just explaining that to me.

Brian Friend (01:42):

Okay.

Anikha Greer (01:43):

Stealing my thunder

Brian Friend (01:45):

At how many look, how many books she’s read

Mattew Ouza (01:48):

Very well read.

Sevan Matossian (01:49):

Is that your house or are you in a bookstore? Uh,

Anikha Greer (01:52):

My house basically is a bookstore, but I’m uh, I’m at my dad’s office at, uh, at the university cuz my wifi is terrible at home. So common theme here.

Sevan Matossian (02:03):

What, what state of are you in?

Anikha Greer (02:05):

Uh, I’m in Canada. So I’m in prince, Edward island.

Sevan Matossian (02:09):

That’s the country like that’s above us, right? I’m in, I’m in the United States. You’re up there?

Anikha Greer (02:13):

Yeah. The great white north.

Sevan Matossian (02:14):

Yeah. Why did you do your, um, open in Vegas or sorry, your quarter finals in Vegas. Why did you come down from Canada?

Anikha Greer (02:22):

Um, cuz I’m all alone here to Ruth and uh, I met a lot of the underdogs at waza and we really connected and I mean, one of our goals for this season was to find somewhere for me to, to like spend a longer period of, of time and train just cuz I’m, waap really showed how, uh, used to being alone. I was and not having that push by the people. So it was just like, we knew we wanted to go to Vegas at some point. Um, and with there being no west coast semi, it was like, now it’s probably the best time let’s go get you uncomfortable during quarters and throw down there. So yeah.

Sevan Matossian (02:55):

And so you just hit up Justin Kotler, he’s the, he’s the, um, the man in charge over at underdogs. And you said, Hey, can I come on down for quarter finals? And he’s he opened up his arms and you came down.

Anikha Greer (03:05):

It was so we had met at Gulu and Justin, like we were instantly kind of big fans of each other. Um, I have a pretty good like vibe detector and I really liked him. And so did my coach Brett and anyways it was cool Cooper who kind of set that up cuz Cooper’s like my agent and Danielle’s agent and he’s very close with the underdog. So he, uh, he kind of set that up. I mentioned it to Cooper and Cooper’s like, boom done.

Sevan Matossian (03:30):

I heard Danielle got rid of Cooper as an, as uh, her agent because um, he brought you down. Is that true? Yeah,

Anikha Greer (03:36):

Maybe

Mattew Ouza (03:39):

I heard a rumor

Anikha Greer (03:40):

To get one thing clear. Danielle was the one who invited me to stay with her. That was, I had prior arrangements and she overwrote that and was like, no, no, no Monica’s gonna stay with me. So that was uh, that was Danielle’s calling, not mine.

Sevan Matossian (03:52):

She wanted to, um, she wanted to put, uh, spike, your drink or something. She wanted to give you, give you a roofie or some egg slacks or something. Fuck up you game. Oh,

Mattew Ouza (04:03):

A close eye. Keep it close eye.

Sevan Matossian (04:06):

So, so you, so you come down there and when, and when you came down there, did you come down with anyone? You, you said we no by yourself?

Anikha Greer (04:12):

Um, just myself, Brett and my coach came for actual quarters, but I went down like a, a full training week early to get like kind of the, feel how I would feel if I wanted to be there longer term. Um, and get some like good training in get used to the, the dry air. I still don’t really have a voice, um, cause,

Sevan Matossian (04:30):

Oh that okay. Okay. So this isn’t your voice don’t

Anikha Greer (04:33):

No, I don’t sound like a, a chain smoker. I promise. But yeah, I went down a bit early, got used to everything and stuff before, before time to compete.

Sevan Matossian (04:41):

Okay. So that’s interesting. Cause I was guessing that maybe that was from crying, um, J just to, okay, well just a vouch for you. Every time I go to Las Vegas within a few hours of being there, I get a bloody nose and not like a bad one, but you know, like when I’m, when I pick a booger they’re red. So that is the, I mean that is Vegas.

Anikha Greer (05:00):

Yeah. And I have, I have a asthma too, so it was just like double whammy. I was, I was wheezing for a bit, but I liked it. I liked the heat.

Sevan Matossian (05:08):

Tell, tell me your, your coach’s name. Brett who

Anikha Greer (05:11):

Roberts. He owns my, he coached my very first CrossFit, teens class ever.

Sevan Matossian (05:17):

I’m trying to find him on, you know, what his Instagram account is. I’m trying to find him.

Anikha Greer (05:20):

He’s private, but he’s 72 coach Brett.

Sevan Matossian (05:24):

Ah. Okay. Okay. And he’s been your coach since you’ve been 13 since when you started. Yeah. Wow. That’s crazy. Um, so you were so you’re so the scene is, is that you’re up in Canada, you’re training. And, and have you ever gone to the CrossFit games before? As, as in the, um, teens division,

Anikha Greer (05:39):

Missed it by one point, uh, injured myself now and qualified and second to Emma care and it got canceled cuz of COVID. So nevers a team? No.

Sevan Matossian (05:48):

Okay. So you tell him about last

Anikha Greer (05:49):

Year and then last year 17 and I missed the cross of games by one point again. Wow. This time as an individual. So it’s been a good, it’s been a good, uh, four years and now five it’s. Yeah.

Brian Friend (06:01):

You know whose story that sounds familiar to it’s Brent. Yeah. Susan. I was thinking about that too. Right when she said

Anikha Greer (06:08):

That I like him. So I’m not mad about that comparison.

Sevan Matossian (06:11):

Me too. I love him. He’s dope.

Anikha Greer (06:13):

I think he’s cool.

Sevan Matossian (06:14):

Yeah, me too. Um, like I’ve told my kids that Brent Kowski is really Santa Claus. About how much I would like him. He’s

Anikha Greer (06:23):

Too fair.

Sevan Matossian (06:24):

No, no, no. Pat Vener is the too fair. It’s all Canadian dudes. Um, so, so one year you missed it by one point another year you made it, but um, COVID and then you, and, and so you missed it 1.2 than made teens, but there was no teens cuz of COVID and then you missed going as an individual last year by 1.1,

Anikha Greer (06:43):

One spot, a couple points. But yeah, like three seconds. I also did an extra cleaning jerk on Gretel. Um, and they didn’t get in crossword games. Didn’t give that back to me. So it was like an extra cleaning jerk, one more snatch. It was like a, one of those one second margin types things, but it was like being or something, but yeah, sixth.

Sevan Matossian (07:00):

Okay. What is this con? Sorry to interrupt your story. Who, who, who, what is this? This old man cracks me up. Who’s that?

Anikha Greer (07:09):

It’s definitely about me.

Sevan Matossian (07:10):

It’s definitely what the fuck is this guy talking about? Shave this shit off and look younger. And your mama? Um, I, okay, so you come down there and you’re really pumped. And is there, do you have the whole thing laid out on how you’re going to, what days you’re gonna do the workout? Have you and um, Brett, um, not Brent Falkowski Brett, have you and Brett, your coach laid it out. Okay. These are the days you’re gonna do the workouts. This is, this is how you’re gonna submit ’em here’s the computer or are you okay? I’m just gonna figure out what Kotler and gang are doing and do it that way.

Anikha Greer (07:42):

Exactly. One of, one of my best qualities I guess, is I’m like pretty adaptable. So we were just kind of like, like, I honestly didn’t really talk to Brett until he got down there. And even then even like the underdogs hadn’t really laid much out until we knew what the workouts were, cuz it’s kind of hard to plan like time to T a all that and what we’re good to doing first. Like unless you know them. So no, I just rolled with it and once they got announced, that’s when we kind of laid everything out and I just did what, just did what they told me.

Sevan Matossian (08:09):

Okay. And what, can you gimme an example of what that looks like? Um, the first workout you, um, was announced Friday, right?

Anikha Greer (08:17):

Uh,

Sevan Matossian (08:18):

Is that how it worked? Friday, Thursday, Thursday. So the first workout was announced Thursday. So, and then, and then you had to do two workouts by noon on Friday and then two workouts by noon on Saturday and two workouts by noon on Sunday,

Brian Friend (08:30):

One for Sunday

Sevan Matossian (08:31):

One. Okay. For a total five. And then when does it close on Sunday? The last video submission has to be up

Anikha Greer (08:39):

12 for us. 12:00 PM.

Sevan Matossian (08:42):

12:00 PM. Central standard time. Pacific,

Brian Friend (08:44):

Pacific.

Sevan Matossian (08:45):

Pacific, yeah. Okay.

Anikha Greer (08:46):

12:00 PM. Biggest time, whatever that is.

Sevan Matossian (08:48):

Okay. Oh, and they’re on the same time as California now cuz of the daylight savings. Is that does anyone know?

Brian Friend (08:53):

Think always. I think

Sevan Matossian (08:54):

Always. Always. Okay. Yeah. All right. So, um, are you in conjunction with anyone else when you do this? Do you have a buddy? Who’s like, okay, we’re gonna do me. Um, me and, uh, Danielle are gonna do these two workouts on, uh, Thursday. Then we’re gonna do these two on Friday and the, and this one on Saturday and we’re gonna be done. Like, did you have a, that you were gonna do it with

Anikha Greer (09:15):

Everybody did the same. We all did the same workouts. Like at the same time we just ran heats. Like nobody did a different order of workouts, every single person and underdogs did the same order.

Sevan Matossian (09:25):

Okay.

Brian Friend (09:26):

How many, how many total athletes? 2030.

Anikha Greer (09:29):

So there was, um, myself, Christine Best came Daniel Chira, Sabrina, Mitch, Matt RA, Allison, um, Dakota. Nicole let’s say there was

Brian Friend (09:46):

A dozen or so.

Anikha Greer (09:47):

Yeah, a dozen or so.

Sevan Matossian (09:49):

And where

Brian Friend (09:50):

Was the and most of these athletes either made the semi-finals or were very close or maybe even all of ’em made it. I’m not sure

Anikha Greer (09:55):

You, yeah, there was maybe just a couple that were outside. Yeah.

Sevan Matossian (09:59):

And, and what does the facility look like? It’s just for it’s one giant, um, room, like, like the barn at, um, mayhem. It’s basically one giant room. It’s just a giant gym. Yeah. It’s just a CrossFit gym,

Anikha Greer (10:09):

A big old, big old CrossFit gym.

Sevan Matossian (10:11):

And so you walk in, you put your shit down and someone says, okay, we’re gonna be starting to workout in 30 minute. And everyone starts doing their shit, warming up, getting their bars, making sure they have their judges, all that stuff.

Anikha Greer (10:20):

Yeah. Basically. And Justin and Keefer and Jared and even Brett, like they’re all, they’re getting the heat sorted out. They’re kind of lining the floors and stuff like they’re yeah. Normal kind of. I’m just waiting until I get told what heat I’m gonna go in. Danielle a couple times told me when I was going, like just made the executive decision for me and I was like, great. Um, and I’d just go and do the workout. And we’d always have someone, we were doing it with like nobody was ever alone. And it was typically someone that you get a good, a good push off of and a good matchup with. But,

Sevan Matossian (10:52):

And, and who’s, who’s responsible for your camera?

Anikha Greer (10:55):

Brett,

Sevan Matossian (10:56):

Brett. Okay.

Anikha Greer (10:57):

Typically, well, it’s funny. We actually kind of made this joke, uh, at the start typically. It’s my mom and cuz she’s done that since I was 14. Cuz I’ve competed online. Although it may seem like I’m a fucking newbie when it comes to cameras and score submissions. Um, I’ve been doing online competition since I was 14. Uh, and so my mom’s always been the one who set up the video and made sure everything’s perfect. Um, so we were kind of looking at each other where I was like, don’t make me do the video. He was like, it’s all right. I got it. Cuz I I’m not used to doing that. But yeah, Brett Brett was in charge of my video and video. We had no, no issues with yeah.

Sevan Matossian (11:35):

That’s gotta be so stressful. If I was sitting up video for athletes to submit scores, I would, my OCD would fire up so hard. I’d be like going over is the red light on, is the red light on what’s the battery doing? That’s I’m freaking out’s

Anikha Greer (11:46):

We spend. So if you, uh, anybody who knows me knows that after any time I do a video, I’m like going through and I’m like, oh my God, like right here, I did this rep too fast and you can’t see my elbows lock out all the way. Like are they gonna penalize me? And Brett’s like a, you’re one of the best movers I’ve ever seen. Like I’ve never gotten a penalty also in the four or five years I’ve done online competitions. I’ve never gotten a penalty knock on wood. But so it’s like, I’m always so stressed about my videos and Brett’s always like, Onika, it’s done move past it. It’s fine. So all of this is very, very ironic to me.

Sevan Matossian (12:21):

So Thursday you, you, is that, when is that? When you do the first two workouts.

Anikha Greer (12:27):

Yeah.

Sevan Matossian (12:28):

Okay. And you do the workouts and then who up who uploads them? Does, does someone hand you, do they hand you a GoPro or they hand you your cell phone back to you and then you upload them?

Anikha Greer (12:37):

Yeah. Brett uploaded all of them immediately after there’s like, uh, wa proof has it. It’s really simple. You just upload a YouTube straight from wa proof. And so as soon as we were done, we would start uploading the videos.

Sevan Matossian (12:48):

Okay. So there’s an app called wa proof that uses the phone and that uses the camera inside of the apple, iPhone. You open up the app, you record it and then straight from there, there’s a button and it goes up and it goes up to your YouTube account,

Anikha Greer (13:01):

Goes up to Brett’s my coaches, Brett. I don’t have the YouTube account.

Sevan Matossian (13:05):

Okay. And then from there, let’s talk about that later. And then from there, um, you put a, uh, from there you submit a link. Tell me then what happens from there? Then you upload your first two workouts and then what happens?

Anikha Greer (13:17):

Um, and then I go onto the app, realize I can’t do anything through the app. Then go to the, the website. And I go to my dashboard and copy and paste the link, like submit everything and click submit.

Sevan Matossian (13:31):

And

Anikha Greer (13:32):

99% of the time I then go, go back, like reload the page, go back into my dashboard, click score, submission history, select the workout and take a screenshot of my score saying either like pending or whatever it says before. Um, the leaderboard goes up and I do that 99.9 9 9, 9, 9% of the time.

Sevan Matossian (13:55):

Okay. Let, let me just make sure I understand this. So you do the workout, the whole crew. Does the workout, you use the wa proof app. You upload it to Brett’s YouTube. Then you find a computer. Is that computer in the venue? Is it in the building?

Anikha Greer (14:09):

I use my phone.

Sevan Matossian (14:11):

Okay. So, so, okay. So you try to use an app on the phone, the app doesn’t work. So you use the browser on your phone. Yeah. And you copy the links from Brett’s. Um, you submit, you go to the, um, CrossFit games.com website. You submit your scores, which is a number it’s a time, right. For the first two workouts. And you also copy and paste a link from Brett’s YouTube page. Yeah. So did and did, and then, and then you, and then you went back and you checked it and took a picture. Yep. Day one in the books.

Anikha Greer (14:40):

Exactly.

Sevan Matossian (14:41):

Okay. Sounds good. All right. Day two day, two day two. Uh, same thing.

Anikha Greer (14:46):

Yeah.

Sevan Matossian (14:48):

E E everyone’s there. Everyone’s cool. Danielle’s done. Danielle’s done pouting that you’re there. She’s she’s she’s ready to fucking kick some mask.

Anikha Greer (14:56):

Yeah,

Sevan Matossian (14:57):

No, no. One’s like waiting at the door being like, sorry, Anika. You can’t come in. Danielle brought bouncers and you can’t come close.

Mattew Ouza (15:02):

Set. Close set.

Anikha Greer (15:03):

Not yet.

Sevan Matossian (15:05):

Okay. So you do the two workouts, um, who sets up your camera again? Same dude.

Anikha Greer (15:09):

Yeah.

Sevan Matossian (15:10):

Right. Um, is it hard to talk about this?

Anikha Greer (15:14):

No. I mean, it’s hard to talk, period. I, I wanna talk about it. I, I wanna talk about it. I mean, obviously we’re definitely gonna get to a point where it’s, it’s not fun to talk about, but I definitely need to.

Sevan Matossian (15:26):

Okay. So day two happens just like day one, including that thing that you mentioned at the end, you go back, you refresh it and you take a picture of the, that you’ve submitted it. Okay. And why do you do that?

Anikha Greer (15:39):

Um, because I know technology fails sometimes and I know a couple athletes last year had issues where they submitted a score. Um, and luckily because they took a screenshot, they were able to be okay. Uh, and have proof that it went through through. Um, so it’s just a, it’s a backup plan. We always have. We actually almost always have two cameras going during my workouts. We just didn’t this. And this was another thing that I was like, holy crap. We only got one camera going. Like that was a big stress to me. Um, so it’s like, we are notorious for hitting and every single possible air covering all of our bases.

Sevan Matossian (16:18):

Okay. Um, do, do they, do they require they, so when you take that screenshot, you can see the date and the time.

Anikha Greer (16:25):

Yeah. And, and on the wa proof video, there is a timestamp. Um, and you can also look back on the day at which the YouTube video was posted and see when it was posted there’s yeah. There’s lots of, yeah. Yeah.

Sevan Matossian (16:41):

Okay. Uh, let’s take a quick break to see what the, what this person, uh, Chris forgot says, Danielle, you were a bitch to Anica two. That that’s two OS means also, right? Like all like, like rep she’s a, we, we actually made over at, uh, the seven podcast. We’re we’re we made a, a few graphics yesterday. It’s a silhouette of Danielle. And then, and then the slogan below it says does not play nice with others. We’re trying to we’re we’re we, we haven’t shown anyone yet, but we’re, we’re playing a full attack on, uh, Ms. Danielle brand. We’re

Mattew Ouza (17:12):

Working around copyright. Uh, yeah,

Sevan Matossian (17:14):

Yeah. Does play nice with others. Okay. So the last day goes and, um, and this is, um, you’re not, you’re not even planning on working out on Sunday, right? This is Saturday. Okay. And, um, you do the workout and what was that last workout?

Anikha Greer (17:30):

It was, uh, 30 cow row, 20 brief box from overs 10 power, 1 35.

Sevan Matossian (17:36):

Cool. And do you like that workout?

Anikha Greer (17:39):

Um, so I was really excited for that workout because last year, my worst quarters event was the burpy box jam, overpower, snatch, um, and rowing burpees, uh, are two of my historic, if you followed my season last year, I think Brian knows this or two of my worst historic movements ever. Um, and power snatch, like power output. I’m much better at squat snatching. So it was something that last year would have killed me. Um, but I also knew how much I’d been working on it. So I was actually really excited cuz I really wanted to see how far, how far it improved. And I was really, really happy with the workout. I was really happy.

Sevan Matossian (18:19):

You mean with your perform? You’re not, you were, you were excited to showcase your talents, but you’re also happy with your performance.

Anikha Greer (18:24):

I was so happy with my performance cuz it was, it’s the one of those workouts where like I get more stress workouts. I know I can do well in cuz there’s more pressure. And I would like, I put a lot of pressure on myself, so I was, I was terrified and it went so well for me. So the workout itself and my performance was great.

Sevan Matossian (18:40):

Brian, did she do good?

Brian Friend (18:43):

What’d you say? It was like a three 15 or three 50?

Anikha Greer (18:46):

Yeah, three 50. I was like, I wish it was three 50.

Brian Friend (18:48):

Yeah. I can’t remember which one, but uh, three

Anikha Greer (18:50):

50. It’s still, still lots of room for me to improve, but I was last year. It would’ve been over four 30 probably.

Brian Friend (18:58):

Yeah, no, I, I saw that. I didn’t know your time until earlier. Uh, when your post went up and I was, uh, today. Its pretty good time. You

Anikha Greer (19:04):

Wouldn’t would you,

Sevan Matossian (19:08):

Hey, what place were you in after day one?

Anikha Greer (19:11):

Uh, fourth.

Sevan Matossian (19:12):

You were fourth in the worldwide. Oh, quarter finals in the quarter final. I’m sorry,

Anikha Greer (19:17):

Just north America. I don’t know about

Sevan Matossian (19:18):

Worldwide. Okay. North America. Okay. Thank you. So you were, the

Brian Friend (19:21):

Worldwide is fun to look at, but the north America, the continental, one’s the only one that really matters.

Sevan Matossian (19:25):

Okay. And, and, and you needed to be in the top one 20. Okay. How about after day two? What place for you? You in

Anikha Greer (19:31):

Uh, day two. I got a little hurt cuz I can’t bench and uh, the wall balls hurt me. So I think I was 15th, 15th or 16th

Sevan Matossian (19:41):

Still. Amazing. Good. You, you got 105 places to play with? Yeah. Yeah. Okay. And, and with this score of three 50, doing know, uh, where Anika, uh, Anika or Anika? She,

Brian Friend (19:55):

She

Sevan Matossian (19:55):

Knows. Yeah. Anika. Do you know what place you’d be Anika with the three 50?

Anikha Greer (19:59):

Uh, yeah, it’d be like 15th or 16th.

Sevan Matossian (20:02):

Wow. Did I mention I’m 50 years old?

Anikha Greer (20:05):

No way. Yeah.

Sevan Matossian (20:06):

I know it’s hard to, it’s fucking hard to believe. I know people in the comments have a hard time leaving it too. Um, okay. So, so you do that workout and, and what, when, when you finish it, do you remember the exact first thing you did?

Anikha Greer (20:20):

Um,

Sevan Matossian (20:23):

Who like immediately, did you lie on the ground? Did you go hug Brett? No, I

Anikha Greer (20:26):

Think, I think I went and hugged Brett. I think Cooper gave me a big old slap. Um, and I think I went and hugged Brett and then I, I went and gave, I went and found Kyra like a couple of the other girls who were there and went and gave them a hug cuz it was like, oh my God, we’re done.

Sevan Matossian (20:42):

And you knew and you felt like you did well.

Anikha Greer (20:44):

Yeah. I knew I wasn’t gonna redo. I knew I had, it’s like one of those things where the whole weekend, it was like, oh, if I redid, maybe I could get a second or two, but it’s like, for me it was all about effort and execution. Um, and those two things I think I did better than I almost ever have. Uh, so I, I knew I wasn’t redoing. I knew I was done.

Sevan Matossian (21:03):

And this is Saturday. I just wanna be super duper clear. This is Saturday. Um, March 26th?

Anikha Greer (21:13):

Yes.

Sevan Matossian (21:14):

Okay. And so the workout wasn’t due until Sunday, March 27th at noon. Yeah. And, and do you know what time you finished the workout?

Anikha Greer (21:25):

I can tell you right now.

Sevan Matossian (21:26):

Okay. Yeah. Let’s see.

Anikha Greer (21:28):

Um, if I go back,

Mattew Ouza (21:31):

Are you looking at a screenshot right now? The screenshot you took?

Anikha Greer (21:35):

I didn’t take a screenshot.

Mattew Ouza (21:37):

Oh

Anikha Greer (21:39):

I, Ooh.

Sevan Matossian (21:44):

What time did you know what time

Anikha Greer (21:46):

Saturday at like it was in the afternoon. Let’s say 4:00 PM. Cuz I, I didn’t, I was looking at the pictures I had saved from it, but I downloaded those after, but let’s say it was like Saturday 4:00 PM.

Sevan Matossian (21:58):

Okay. And how many people were in the room with you when you did it?

Anikha Greer (22:01):

Everyone. Literally every single person there.

Sevan Matossian (22:04):

So 20 people.

Anikha Greer (22:05):

Yeah. Plus cameramen plus I’m like we, we have so much footage of me doing it on time. Also in the back of my video is Christine Best doing it at the same time as me and in the back of Christine bests submitted video is me doing the workout at the same time as her.

Sevan Matossian (22:24):

Okay. So, so you finish, let’s say it’s approximately 4:00 PM on Saturday, March 26th. You have a ample time to upload it. Do you do your normal routine? Do you go over and check the video? Did you go over and check wa proof? The app. Yeah. And you like, and you liked what you saw?

Anikha Greer (22:38):

Yeah. Video was fine. Brett immediately looks at me and Brett’s like, I’m gonna go upload this. And I said, sounds good. And he went and sat in the corner, like he normally did and uploaded it and then he texted me the link. Um, and I copy and pasted the link.

Sevan Matossian (22:52):

Wow. Wow. Okay. He, so he, it, it did make it to YouTube a hundred percent. He got the link. Okay. Yep. Okay.

Anikha Greer (22:59):

Video all good. Everything up Saturday at

Sevan Matossian (23:03):

Like, is it up right now? Is it up right now? Yep. Can you go to his YouTube page? Um, uh, Suza and let’s just take a look at it because that will have a stamp and a date on it too. The date it went up, right? What

Mattew Ouza (23:14):

Is, what is YouTube page?

Anikha Greer (23:15):

So I’m the only thing is, I’m not sure if it’s restricted, however, I can go get you this link right now.

Sevan Matossian (23:22):

And I can email email

Anikha Greer (23:23):

To you guys because

Mattew Ouza (23:25):

You shoot in the email because when you upload it too, it gives you a time stamp of once, once you uploaded it. Yep. So I have it all in there a

Sevan Matossian (23:33):

Hundred percent. Okay. Okay. So then, so then he sends and he does that and he sends it. Oh, um, the link he sends you the link. He texts it to you. Yes. The character. Okay. Just

Anikha Greer (23:44):

Down there right now.

Sevan Matossian (23:46):

And then you, then you know that the app doesn’t work. So you go through safari again to go to CrossFit games.com and you submit your score.

Anikha Greer (23:57):

Yes. There we go. I just emailed you the link. Um, yeah. Yeah. So I opened up safari and I remember vividly because I remember vividly filling everything out because I remember copying and pacing, the link, putting it in. I remember going back to the link, making sure that it fully opened, cuz I was like, oh shoot. I don’t want them to have an issue where like they can’t actually get into it cuz you know, if it’s like restricted and blah, blah, blah, whatever. Right. So that I recopy and pasted at it and put it back. Um, I remember changing cuz the default affiliate thing always says CrossFit 7 82 for me. And I was like, oh I’m not a CrossFit. 7 82. So I remember changing that. I remember switching the judge to Cooper marsh. I remember filling out everything, clicking submit and going goodbye and like closing the phone, closing it down and being like, oh I’m done. Um, cuz it was

Sevan Matossian (24:47):

A, oh do you think that’s what did it that you closed your turned your phone off before it was done?

Anikha Greer (24:53):

It just been, I mean, I know that people were having internet issues with uploading it at the gym. Like that was a big conversation. This weekend was that I think some people had to submit a score without the video and then send the video in later. Um, and so like the VI, the internet also wasn’t great there. I was having to use my data a lot of the time I might have been on the internet. It very well could have been that I closed it too soon. Like there could have been so many little tech things, but like I know I filled everything out. It’s just what happened between filling it out and the CrossFit games receiving that information. I it’s a mystery.

Sevan Matossian (25:30):

Were you guys using wifi in the gym or, or cellular do you know?

Anikha Greer (25:33):

Depends. Depends on if it was loading or not. There’d be some days I’d be like on Instagram and nothing would load. So I’d be like, fuck this. And I had to turn off the wifi and use my data. So I actually, I don’t know if I was on data. If I was on wifi, uh, during that

Sevan Matossian (25:46):

God, you’re a keep, I’m gonna say something really sexist here. A girl that knows the difference between cellular and wifi. That’s amazing. Awesome. Uh, make a note of that and dudes who are watching, she can run faster and lift more than you end. She’s technically smarter than you just keep

Anikha Greer (26:02):

Her. Is she though?

Sevan Matossian (26:04):

Okay. Did

Mattew Ouza (26:05):

You send it to the, the, to the Sivan email to Savan him?

Anikha Greer (26:08):

I don’t have it. I don’t know. I sent it to whoever sent me, I think the Sivan podcast.

Mattew Ouza (26:13):

Yeah, that was it. I don’t have it yet.

Sevan Matossian (26:17):

Okay. So, so, so, so, so it’s up and then, and then so Sunday comes around and you’re checking the leaderboard and you don’t see your name. Tell, tell me how it unfolds from there.

Anikha Greer (26:27):

Yeah. So exactly. So he,

Sevan Matossian (26:28):

And why didn’t you take a picture that time? Do, do you have a strong, do you have a strong like OCD? Like do you check to see if your front door’s locked five or six times? Do you do wear that weird shit that I do? No, you don’t do that sometimes.

Anikha Greer (26:38):

I’m sometimes I’m too laid back. Okay. Um, typically not on things I care about and things that my entire life revolves around.

Sevan Matossian (26:46):

Yeah. Um,

Anikha Greer (26:47):

And I mean, I have this question has been haunting my brain for the past four days of why didn’t I double check? Um, and I mean, it’s a million dollar question. Um, but yeah, like I put it in and vividly, remember, and it’s Cooper and Brett, I remember asking me multiple times you put your scoring. Right. And I’m like, yes, because I have that image in my brain of me filling everything out. I was like, yeah, it’s in, um,

Sevan Matossian (27:14):

At this point it almost doesn’t even matter, right? Yeah. If you did, or if you didn’t,

Anikha Greer (27:19):

I’m like I’m in, like I knew I had a good score and I think for me is like, I wasn’t even, I wasn’t even checking. I honestly wasn’t even on my phone that much. It has been a very, very long weekend. Yeah. Um, just very out of my own element around people who are very different than the people I’m normally around a totally different environment. Also. I’m also at an Airbnb now cuz Brett came to me and Brett stayed together. This Airbnb does not have wifi. Um, it doesn’t have of windows, the oven lights on fire.

Sevan Matossian (27:46):

Uh we’re

Anikha Greer (27:48):

In literally the most like unfathomable environment ever completely a zone. I lit the oven on fire. Like It’s, there’s just so

Sevan Matossian (27:57):

Many little

Sevan Matossian (27:58):

Things. We do it different here in America. Is,

Brian Friend (28:01):

Is that the same place Ricky stayed when he went

Sevan Matossian (28:03):

There? Maybe

Anikha Greer (28:03):

There’s like chickens outside. I was like,

Sevan Matossian (28:07):

No. Um, Ricky stayed in one of those hotels where they charged by the hour. Like you just go in and fucking leave. It sounds like she got

Sevan Matossian (28:14):

Airbnb

Anikha Greer (28:14):

Basically. I’m like, what did they do in this? There was no racks in the oven. I was like, what are they using this oven for?

Sevan Matossian (28:19):

Wow. Like

Anikha Greer (28:20):

It was so anyway, so it’s like gorgeous all over the place too. Cuz I was jump being between going back to Danielle’s to do recovery stuff, going to Kira’s like all over the place. Like just cuz I can’t really do much in my own Airbnb. So it was kind of, we’re just all over the place a little bit. Um, but when I think about like why I didn’t, it had been such a long two weeks with so many things throwing and I think um,

Sevan Matossian (28:43):

When you, sorry to interrupt you when you went to Danielle’s house, did you see that couch? That um, she walked on barefoot and made the Instagram

Sevan Matossian (28:49):

Video. The orange couch? Yeah.

Anikha Greer (28:51):

Oh yeah. We love that couch. That’s like that’s an expensive ass couch.

Sevan Matossian (28:55):

God can you imagine she can ma I was just tripping on that. Some she’s so amazing that she can make an Instagram post of her just walking around her house, opening and closing blinds. Fuck. You should have made, you should have made a, you should made put on those exact same clothes and done that video and post. No,

Sevan Matossian (29:11):

She made that video

Anikha Greer (29:12):

While I was

Sevan Matossian (29:13):

Sleeping. That’s so good. I was sleep in the other room.

Sevan Matossian (29:16):

That’s how you know you’re on another level. This world is not fair.

Sevan Matossian (29:20):

Oh I got 10,000 followers off that video. Yeah, my goodness. I don’t wanna put it.

Sevan Matossian (29:24):

Goodness. Okay. So then you, you, you submit this thing. Um, you turn it off and then I wanna know when you’ve realized that something’s not right?

Anikha Greer (29:32):

Yeah. So the next morning there was

Sevan Matossian (29:34):

Couple, this is, this is Sunday, March, uh, 27th. Okay. 27th. Okay.

Anikha Greer (29:39):

So we’re going to the gym we had. So the night before we had gone, because we were done and like we were all hanging out, having fun. Um, so the next morning we were like, let’s go in and watch the couple people that are gonna redo, like support, you know, like now we were in the like kind of much more chill phase. All of the tensions had kind of dropped a little bit. Um,
